Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Lowering Your Guard

I heard a knock on my door and at first I hesitated to answer. The last man that knocked about was trying to proposition me into something I was not down for. I sighed, pushing the memory down, and said to the person to, "Come in." Even though I knew it was one of the Cathal brothers, I was surprised to see them knock.

I looked up from my notes and saw that it was the second oldest Noah. He was leaning against the wall and taking me in. I could say that I was doing the same. He was not wearing the apron that he was using to cook, so I could see every muscle that shaped his delicious body.

"Is there something that you need, Mr. Cathal." I said, showing respect but at the same time taunting. I heard him scoff under his breath.

"Mr. Cathal is our father and that bastard is buried six feet under." I could tell that was a touchy subject.

"What can I help you with, Noah," I said.

"There it is the little demon that I was waiting to see." He chuckled.

"Excuse me," I asked. I could tell that they were trying to get under my skin. On my worst day. It would not work.

"You are a little hellion. That is the only thing that I can think of that would make Jeger keep someone like you."

I smirked, "That and my skills to get into any encrypted code, but why, pray tell, do you think I'm a hellion?" This man piqued my interest.

"Your eyes." He said. "That fire in your eyes shows that you would have burned down Jeger's compound if we had not gotten there first."

I shrugged. I was not going to deny that he was wrong, but I would be damned if I admitted that he was one hundred percent correct. If I had gotten everything that I needed from his database, I would have covered my tracks and destroyed any evidence that I was there. Even if it meant watching it go up in flames.

I chuckled as I moved out of the bed and in front of the tall tatted Irishmen. "You know what I see, Noah," I whispered.

"And what is that," he peered down at me.

I bit my lip and giggled. "Temptation."

He raised his eyebrows at me and leaned down. "Oh really."

"Yes," I said, standing on my tiptoes. "Temptation…you want to know. You want to know what it looks like."

"Oh I got a pretty idea of that," Noah said, scanning his gaze over my frame. I had gone to bed and changed to night shorts that stopped mid thigh and an off-the-shoulder crop top that was two sizes big on me.

"True, but you wanna know what it feels like in your hands," I said as I put my arms behind my back. I tilted my neck to the side and let him inhale my perfume.

He chuckled as he ran his knuckles down my side. I could not help but hiss at the warmth of his touch. Would I welcome it when I pushed Terrell away? Who was I kidding? I threatened Terrell with a knife and here I was serving myself up on a platter for Noah.

I licked my lips and gently but the tip. I watched Noah dart his tongue close enough to taste the salt of my skin.

"You want to know what it tastes like," I said, letting my eyes close as he inched closer to me.

Before either of us could do anything about it, we heard someone clear their throat. I suddenly stepped back and recovered from the daze that I was in. In the midst of getting Noah to lower his guard around me, I had lowered mine and did not notice anyone near.

Noah clicked his tongue and chuckled as he looked at me. I gulped at the vision that I saw. His eyes burned with a hunger that could not be denied. I was right when I said he was tempted and now looking at him I could tell he would eat me if I let him.

The thought of this man in between my legs feasting on my soul made me clamp my legs tighter together not to let the smell of sex fill the room. Noah had not even touched me yet and I was already soaked with the idea of him.

I looked over to see that Rory was looking at both of us. "Be careful with this one brother. I am starting to think that we don't have a lamb in our den," he said as he hit his brother's shoulder. Noah kept his eyes on me.

"I do believe that you are right, little brother. Our hellion is starting to show her true colors right before our eyes."

When Noah said that, my eyes widdened. There was no way that I had let myself go that far. I closed my eyes and threw up every wall to hide my emotions. I learned from my mother that the moment you let your emotions waiver they will be the telltale sign of your weakness.

"If there is nothing else you two want from me, I will head to bed." I said, holding both siblings in my gaze.

"And who's bed would that be spitfire? My brother's or yours?" Rory challenged me. I smirked as I took a step back and pointed for them to leave the room. I did not trust myself to answer anything. I did not trust myself not to lose my cool against any of them.

"Well, good night, Chris," Rory said as he walked away. I could hear him chuckling down the hall.

Arrogant little shit.

"Rest well, my little hellion," Noah said as he left, but then he stopped. "Oh before I forget, Ash wants to see you in the room." He smiled at me before pivoting his feet, turning around and walking away.

I shook my head. I truly thought that I could get under Noah's skin, but in the attempt I left myself wide open again. And again to the twin that believe that I was not what I seemed.

I sighed as I pulled my hair out of its hold and shook it. I walked outside into the hallway and went directly to Asher's office.

When I made it down the second hallway, I noticed that the door was wide open. Had he been expecting me?

I knocked on the doorframe and waited.

"Miss Young, you can come in." His deep voice sent chills through my body. I walked in and saw him leaning against his desk with a folder in his hand.

"You wanted to see me," I asked. He smirked, having only one side smile. He handed me the folder and all I saw was a name.

"I said at Jeger's compound that we would employ you. I want to see if you are really as good as they make you out to be."

"And with only this name…Dawson Brooks." I said, looking for something further. But nothing. He had only given me a first and last name.

"I want you to give me everything on this Brooks character. I want you to find everything from their spending account to their mother's maiden name."

I looked at him confused. "Why?"

"Does it matter? I am giving you a job to do," Asher said in a harsh tone. I nodded. I wanted to ask more but I knew that I would get shut down.

"What is my time frame?"

Asher looked at me, "I want it by the end of the week." He walked back to his desk and sat at his computer.

I nodded once more, "Given it being Sunday, that gives me close to eight days." I paused, thinking over my search. I was confident. "I may have it sooner, possibly in two, maybe three days."

He looked up from the screen. "That short time span?"

I shrugged, "I always try to beat the clock if you will." I sighed as I saw him go back to his work.

"If there is nothing else, I will head off to bed.

"Good night Miss Young." He never looked up from the computer after that. I shut the door behind me and went down the hall. I could see there was light illuminating from hall lights and a flicker in the living room. When I made my way closer, I could see Colin and Noah watching a movie. I walked behind the couch not to disturb them and went to my room.

I entered the bedroom and noticed that it was pitch black. I thought that I had left the nightstand light on. I pushed my shorts down from my body and stopped midway when I felt a presence in my room.

"Do you wanna tell me what you are doing in here, little spitfire?"
