I stormed to my room. I am enraged. I know this marriage is supposed to mean nothing but I will never live in the same house as my supposed husband and his mistress. I watched my mum's marriage play out that way and it traumatized me the most as a child.
My fingers trembled in anger as I grabbed my phone and dialed his younger brother, Henry's number.
I have heard rumors about how Benson feared his father. Maybe he would at least come to his senses if i reported him.
"Hi Violet." He answered
"I would like to have a meeting with your father, it's about Benson."
"Oh. What could be so urgent that you would request a meeting with my father? Is my brother taking out his madness on you?"
For a moment i wondered how he would speak about his own brother like that. I soon snapped out of it, reminded of my anger.
"I would rather speak about it in person."
"Okay. I will speak to him and get in touch with you about when to meet."
As the call ended I dropped to my bed. I needed all of this to end, but how is it possible when mum has refused to leave that wretched family. If she had agreed to come with me, we would have ditched everyone and everything and moved to another country to start over.
In a couple of hours, i received a call from Henry and we agreed on a place to meet. It was the famous NovaForge group. The organization Mr. Theodore has worked tirelessly to build.
I strolled into the building as Henry led me to his father's office. He was seated on a swivel chair, facing away from me with his head relaxed against the backrest.
Henry left as soon as he ushered me into his father's office.
"Hello Mr. Theodore." I said, taking a seat on the sofa by the door.
He slowly turned the chair, "Miss Violet." He calmly said, "How can I help you?"
Miss Violet? I wondered. I cleared my throat, unsure of how to compose my words.
"I understand your son and I are in an arranged marriage but it doesn't give him the right to abuse me by bringing in another woman to live with us."
He froze. His contenance changed and he immediately stood up from the chair, causing it to go in circular motions.
He walked towards the sofa and took a seat.
"My son brought in a woman to live with you?"
"Yes. I believe he owes me common courtesy and respect even though it is a loveless marriage. He can have his mistress outside but not in-"
"What is this mistress's name?" His voice interrupted me. At this point he seemed more interested in the matter than i had expected. Also i wondered what concerned him with her name?
"Serelith." I answered.
His countenance worsened. I could see his jaw tighten.
"I apologize for any inconvenience my son must have caused you. I promise I will call him to order. You may leave."
"Okay. Thank you."
By the time I got back home I was told Benson had left the house. I hoped he had taken his thing with him but she was infact at home and in her room upstairs. The more i thought about it, the more angry I got.
Now that i think about it, Benson doesn't deserve my apology. I want my note back. I hope more than anything he hasn't read it.
I made my way to his room. I think the maids must have cleaned his room because I couldn't find the note where I kept it. I scanned his room, until my gaze landed on the little library in a far corner of the room.
I walked towards it. My note was sitting on a book, it looked untouched because i had folded it in several segments and it still stayed that way. I angrily picked my note. My attention is drawn to the book it was sitting on. It was my favorite book growing up. I smiled and picked it, reminded of how it got me through some dark days. A diary suddenly fell out of it.
I picked it up immediately. The last thing I wanted was for Benson to think I was roundsacking his room. I genuinely didn't care about him or any of his things and just wanted to get my note but for some reason I was drawn to see the content of the diary. It looked like something that belonged to a child.
I opened it curiously and there is a note on the first page, with a writing that couldn't be easily understood. Something a child would write. It read.
"Father killed grandma. I am not crazy."
I squinted trying to understand.
I opened a few more pages to read. "The nurse slapped me when I said i was not crazy and father killed grandma."
"They gave me pills but I didn't take them, because I am not crazy."
I felt a rush of blood in my face, as my heart raced. I am not sure what happened but this seemed like a note written by Benson when he was young. Did.. i shook the thought out of my head. It can't be. I don't think anyone would be so cruel. No.
It seems like Benson has a very horrible relationship with his father. I wondered the authenticity of the note. My heart raced as I remembered what i had just done. I should never have spoken with his father!
I was about opening more pages to get more context when I heard footsteps approaching. I hurriedly put the note inside the book and placed it back on the shelf.
I walked to the door hoping it would be Han or one of the maids but I was wrong.
