Uncle Kone step through the portal that lead to earth
I took a deep breath and followed after him.
And the moment my feet touched the other side…
I gasped.
"Wowwwww."
The sky was dark but beautiful, sparkling with lights, I saw tall buildings and their windows glowing like fireflies caught in glass boxes,
We were standing on a rooftop and the breeze gently lifted my long silver hair. I spun slowly, taking it all in, immensed with the beauty of everything, the stars was peeking like it was just as curious as I was
"Where are we?" I whispered, turning to Uncle Kone with wide eyes.
He smiled "you like right, this is Seoul, we are actually in South Korea, One of my favorite places on Earth, imp"
"Seoul," I repeated, testing the name on my tongue
He held my hands and suddenly we were no longer on the rooftop
We were standing on a street filled with cherry blossom trees, and a little building stood giving a warm ambiance from just looking at it, light were spilling from its windows and the tantalizing aroma coming from it was divine
I almost floated toward it.
Uncle Kone laughed "let's go in imp"
We saw an old human and he appears to be a man, he stood at the door, his beard curling like stardust. The moment he saw Uncle Kone, his whole wrinkled face broke into a happy smile.
"Well, well, well, who do we have here today, Still hiding in the shadows, are we?"
Uncle Kone laughed, smiling playfully. "only for you Joon"
The old man's eyes turned towards my direction. "And who's this pretty little moon bean hiding behind you?"
I stepped forward, squared my shoulders, flipped my silver hair over one shoulder and said with a sassy grin, "Have lived longer than you, Mr Joon".
He blinked. Then he let out a chuckle that I loved immediately.
Joon, this Is Azura, my sister's daughter and the future Queen, Uncle Kone said
"Welcome to my café, princess," he said with a wink. "Come in. You're just in time for the fresh batch."
The place was small, but warm and welcoming, it was filled with glass jars and candles. He placed a tiny dish in front of me something soft, golden-brown, with a drizzle of honey.
"What's this?" I asked, nose twitching from how wonderful it smelt.
"Hotteok," he said proudly. "this one is on the house for the not so little princess."
I bowed dramatically. "Your service has my loyalty, Mr Joon".
Then I took the tiniest bite.
This is delicious
And then, I took the biggest bite.
I forgot my manners and decorum, sorryRiona, I absorbed it in three glorious, sticky gulps, licking my fingers with no shame whatsoever. I didn't even care that honey was dripping from my chin.
"This…" I moaned, "is everything."
Uncle Kone was shaking his head fighting a smile, "you are embarrassing me Imp"
And I responded with a toothy grin, sticking my tongue out
After finishing up, We were just about to leave the cozy little cafe, Mr Joon gave me something white and pointed at my face
I got the message and wipe the honey beard from my chin
Uncle Kone turned to Mr Joon with a warm smile."Thank you my dear friend"
Mr Joon waved him off like he'd just did something crazy "Ah, please!, Don't thank me, You both are always welcome here. This little lady brightens the whole place up."
I did a mock curtsey, fluttering my lashes. "Of course I do. I'm just like that."
He let out a belly laugh. "She's got spirit! Reminds me of my granddaughter, before she turned sixteen and declared war on her parents."
Uncle Kone chuckled and reached into his robe, pulling out a small shimmering bottle. "For your back, Should help with the pain."
Mr Joon eyes lit . "The last one worked like magic, Thank you Kone"
Uncle nodded and we stepped out of the Cafe, into the cold night
Tall glass towers reached up like they were tickling the stars. The lights glowed gold and silver and neon pink. The air smelled different and it was a good different
Fast object zoomed past like beasts. Humans bustled around, chattering, laughing, walking,And they all seemed so… normal, and i wonder why mother wanted to stay away
"There nothing to be scared about ," I said softly. "The humans are lovely creatures"
Uncle Kone chuckled beside me. " it's true some of them are, But some are just like Gilmore selfish, greedy, and a pain in the bottom."
That last part made me snort. "You said bottom."
"Yes I did, Azura, Yes I did ."
I grinned and looped my arm through his. "So when you are not seeing Mr Joon what else do you do here when you sneak away from the palace, leaving me alone to die of loneliness" i said dramatically
He glanced at me sideways. "why are you so curious imp."
"I'll take that as a yes, so what exactly do you do " i said looking at him
He sighed, but the fond smile didn't leave his face. "I go to the hospital. I help people heal. Silently. Sometimes, I have to pretend to be a doctor. I even have a coat and stethoscope, when it's needed.
My eyes widened. "You're serious?"
"I am, I just wanted to contribute. Here I feel useful, like I'm not just existing and I'm actually useful, you know " He said
I stopped walking and faced him. "Then I want to see it."
He blinked. "No. Absolutely not."
"But this is our last visit, remember, If I don't go now, I'll never get to see the thing you love most, the thing that makes you happy."
"You're using emotional manipulation."
"I'm using gift"
He turned away.
I grabbed his sleeve. "Pleeease."
He sighed, the kind of sigh that meant he was losing the battle. "Fine. But you stay out of sight"
