Chapter 7 - CHAPTER 2 V 3

You Broke Me FirstVolume 3 — Chapter 2:

Fractured HeartsThe hospital room was cloaked in a heavy silence, broken only by the rhythmic beep of the heart monitor and the soft rustle of rain against the windowpane. Shayne sat beside Jenna's bed, his hand gently holding hers, feeling the fragile pulse beneath his fingers. The weight of everything—the accusations, the danger, the secrets—pressed down on him like a storm threatening to break.

Hagar stood near the window, her gaze distant, lost in memories she dared not voice. The past was a shadow she carried—one that now threatened to consume them all.

A Moment of Vulnerability Shayne broke the silence, his voice barely above a whisper. "Jenna's fighting for her life… and we're still so blind to what's really happening."

Hagar turned, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears. "I never wanted you to get hurt, Shayne. I thought if I kept the truth hidden, I could protect you."

He looked at her, pain and confusion swirling in his gaze. "But the truth always finds a way out, doesn't it? And sometimes, it breaks us."

She nodded, swallowing hard. "I've been broken before. More than you know. My marriage… my past—it's full of scars I thought I buried. But they're all coming back."

Shayne reached out, cupping her face gently. "You don't have to carry that alone anymore."

For a moment, their eyes locked—two souls bruised but yearning for connection. Yet beneath the tenderness lay a fragile tension, the unspoken fear that love might be the very thing that would break them.

The Weight of Secrets Hagar's voice trembled as she began to reveal fragments of her past. "My ex-husband… he was more than just a failed marriage. He was part of something dark—something that reaches into MacTech's core. I left to protect my son, to protect myself. But I never imagined it would follow me here."

Shayne's heart ached. "And now it's dragging us both into the abyss."

She looked away, tears tracing silent paths down her cheeks. "I staged the love, Shayne. I used you because I was afraid—afraid of being alone, afraid of being hurt again. But somewhere along the way, I started to feel something real. And now, I don't know if I can ever make it right."

Shayne's throat tightened. "You broke me first… but maybe, just maybe, we can heal together."

A Glimmer of Hope As the night deepened, they sat in quiet companionship, the storm outside mirroring the turmoil within. Jenna's soft breaths were a reminder of the fragility of life—and the urgency of their fight.

Suddenly, Hagar's phone buzzed with a message: "Meet me at the old warehouse. Answers await."

Shayne's eyes widened. "Who sent that?"

Hagar shook her head. "I don't know. But it's a risk we have to take."

They exchanged a glance—fear, hope, and determination mingling in the space between them.

Cliffhanger:As they prepared to leave the hospital room, the door creaked open. A shadow fell across the threshold—a man with cold eyes and a smile that didn't reach his face.

"Hagar," he said slowly, voice dripping with menace. "You thought you could escape the past. But it's caught up with you. And now, so have I."

Shayne stood protectively in front of Hagar, heart pounding. The battle for truth, love, and survival was far from over.
