Chapter 5 - CHAPTER 5 - WHO ARE YOU?

"You must feel like you're on cloud nine." Kora spat.

Valeigh paled, her brows furrowed, "Sorry?"

"Yeah, you must feel like a Queen because he stood up for you. But remember your place here, you're nothing but a lowly slave dreaming of being Luna."

"I don't know why you dislike me, but don't you think you should vent on Alpha Ezekiel and not me?"

"You!"

"Me what?" Her voice came out soft like a hummingbird's.

Kora's nose flared, her chest heaving upwards and downwards.

Valeigh rolled her eyes. If Kora was going to stop low, she was going to stay high, to prove to her that they weren't the same. She was never going to let anyone trample on her anymore!

Her eyes darted to the woman. She bowed slightly, "Greetings, Alpha Queen."

"Keep your greetings to yourself." She spat, her eyes spitting venom and hatred.

Okay…Why's everyone worked up?

"Okay." Valeigh muttered, rolling her eyes gently.

"Okay? That's all you can say?" Kora chuckled, "Go back to wherever hole you crawled out from."

"Look sweetheart, I have no issues with you. You can choose to remain here as a mistress if you wish, but you must know that you'll never be Luna."

Kora's eyes widened, "You!"

"This is the second time you're saying that. Just beat me up if you can."

"Arrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!" Kora screamed, running out of the hall.

Valeigh chuckled, folding her arms under her breasts.

"You must feel happy saying that."

Her eyes rested on the Alpha Queen—Queen Silla, mother of the strongest Alpha she has ever heard of.

"I don't."

She walked slowly to the door, her eyes fixed on the floor.

"If I ever find out that you're a fake mate…" Queen Silla muttered. She paused by the door, fixing her gaze on the woman.

"I swear I'll kill you myself. So run far away while you still can."

"Understoood." she whispered and strolled out of the room.

She dropped her head as she took the path Ezekiel and she took when they were coming.

"That crazy man." She seethed, under her breath.

"Who is crazy?" A cool, airy voice whispered behind her.

She dropped her head as she took the path Ezekiel and she took when they were coming.

"That crazy man." She seethed, under her breath.

"Who is crazy?" A cool, airy voice whispered behind her.

She turned around and her mouth fell open. A hot demigod-like man stood behind her, clad in a bathrobe.

Water dripped from his body and fell on his bare, hard rock chest. His jet black hair clung to his face and he rubbed his red lips with his fingers.

"Are you drooling?" He asked, the amusement evident on his face.

"M-M-Me….drooling?"

"You're stuttering too." he cracked, laughter echoing through the quiet hall. "Where the hell did Zeke pick you from? You're too innocent for him."

"Pardon?"

"Run while you can, sweetheart. Zeke is a beast."

She blinked her eyes and turned her back on him, walking away quickly.

"I'm Tamlin and it's fvcking nice to meet you!" He shouted.

Valeigh blocked her ears with her palm.

"This place reeks of crazy people."

A particular figure stood lazily some meters away from her—Alpha Ezekiel.

"How was familiarizing yourself with your mother-in-law like?"

"Familiarizing myself with her?" Valeigh scoffed, "She freaking threatened me!"

Ezekiel chuckled, taking slow strides towards her. He stopped in front of her and brushed her hair with his fingertips. She looked up at him and almost laughed at their height difference—he was probably taller than her by a foot.

Compared to his body frame, hers was like that of a ten year old. She was slim, small and frail. It looked funny, but a bit appealing.

"If she yells at you, yell back. If she bites your neck, bite back harder. That way, they'll believe you're really my mate."

Valeigh shook her head, "She already dislikes me. Imagine what would happen if I began fighting her."

He pulled her closely by the waist, raising her up to his eye level. Their lips were inches apart and their breaths fanned each other's face.

"The auburn haired lady hates me. You didn't tell me you had a mistress." Valeigh blurted out, glaring at him.

"I expected it. You should learn to stand up for yourself, beauty."

"B-B-Beauty?"

"Yeah, you're beautiful." He whispered into her ears, dropping her slowly.

"Day one and I can't understand this place." Valeigh coughed lightly, changing the topic.

"Observings things without saying a word, ignoring certain statements and avoiding certain people will save you from a lot of troubles here."

Her brows furrowed and she gave him a quizzical look.

"Are you asking me to stay silent?"

"For a full moon, avoid trouble. After that, you're free to do whatever you like."

She nodded. He walked away, she trailed behind him with her lip in her mouth. They walked for a while and entered a hallway.

"The Alpha is coming!" A voice shrieked.

Valeigh could see people moving helter skelter doing one thing or the other.

"Where are we going?"

"Your quarters."

Her eyes lit up and she giggled like a child who was offered chocolates.

"You thought we were gonna be sleeping together?"

"Er…but I'm grateful we aren't."

A hearty laughter filled his lips and he ruffled her hair gently, "You amuse me, Leigh."

They entered the building and she froze.

One, two, three, five, seven, twenty or so maidens stood, their heads bowed.

"Good Heavens!" A gasp escaped Valeigh's throat.

"Greetings, Alpha! Greetings, Lady Leigh!"

She nodded, waving at them slightly.

"Pick any three to serve as your personal maids."

"Three is quite a number." she murmured, staring at him with gooey eyes. "Can I take two?"

"He nodded and she moved forward, examining the maidens. Her eyes fell on a young girl—she was probably around nineteen or twenty.

Valeigh walked to her and tapped her on the shoulders, "Hi. I'm Leigh."

"I'm Aurelia, My Lady."

"Do you mind being my helper?"

Aurelia beamed, her white teeth glistening, "No, I don't mind. It's an honour for me."

She turned to Ezekiel with a grin, "That's all for now. I'll pick the second one later."

"Alright."

Ezekiel pecked her hair and nudged her shoulder, "Go with them. I have a council meeting now."

"Thanks."

"I'll see you at dinner."

"Dinner?"

"Hm, we eat dinner together. We'll see later." He said, turning his back on her and walking out of the hallway.

"Come with me, My Lady."

-----

Valeigh walked into a gorgeous room and her eyes lit up. This place was paradisiacal!

The floors were polished, the walls looked like nature itself, the room smelt of lavender, mint and olive—her favourite combination. She rushed to the vanity mirror and stared at her profile with a smile on her face.

"Let's see your closet." Aurelia giggled.

They rushed to the closet and her mouth fell open. There were different dresses—ball gowns, plain gowns, council meeting gowns, hunting dresses, dancing dresses. The jeweleries stole her breath and she covered her mouth in awe.

This is all fake! Valeigh whispered to herself.

The door burst open and a red haired lady, dressed in an archer's robe stepped into the room with a grim expression.

"Who are you?"
