Chapter 69 - Chapter 69: Concerto for Chaos and Destruction

[Third Person]

The bridge of the star cruiser Resolute was a controlled chaos. Admiral Yularen barked orders, clone officers scurried between consoles, and a tense Anakin Skywalker watched on the holoprojector as Commander Rick's lone fighter relentlessly approached the defenseless Refuge Station. They were too far. They wouldn't make it in time.

"General," Yularen said, his voice grave. "At his current speed, he'll impact the station in ninety seconds."

Just as despair began to settle in, a sound filled the bridge. It wasn't an alarm. It was the cheerful tinkling of bells.

A bright, offensively pink portal opened in the center of the command bridge.

Clone officers instinctively raised their blasters. Anakin ignited his lightsaber. Out of the portal stepped Kaelen and Padmé, followed by a Rick who looked furious at the humiliation of his transport method, and a Morty who looked like he was about to faint.

"Don't shoot, you idiots!" Rick yelled. "We're here to save your pathetic asses!"

Anakin and Yularen stared, dumbfounded.

"Kaelen, Rick," Anakin said, his shock overcoming his relief. "What... how?"

"Less how, more now," Kaelen said, his calmness contrasting with the bridge's panic. He walked to the main tactical console. Rick positioned himself beside him. The strange pair of geniuses ignored everyone else, their minds already synchronized.

"Class-G Annihilation Fighter, custom," Rick said, analyzing the readings. "He's using a quark plasma cannon! That thing can tear through a Venator's shields like tissue paper!"

"His attack pattern is a standard bombing loop. Predictable," Kaelen added, his cybernetic eye processing the telemetry data. "But he's charging the reality field disruptor as a finishing blow. He doesn't want to destroy the station. He wants to erase it from existence."

They looked at each other. No words were needed. The plan formed between them in an instant of shared understanding.

"I need more power!" Rick yelled at a terrified comms technician. "Reroute power from secondary life support to this console! And if anyone suffocates, it's for a good cause!"

As the technician trembled in obedience, Rick began typing on the console at impossible speed, turning a comms panel into a cybernetic weapon. "HA! I just turned his navigation system into a playable, buggy version of 'Pong'! Now his autopilot doesn't know if it's attacking a space station or trying to hit a little ball!"

On the main screen, they saw the enemy fighter begin to move erratically, its warning shots now veering into empty space.

"That buys the station a few seconds," Kaelen said. "But it won't stop the disruptor. General," he turned to Anakin, "I need you to fire a single proton torpedo."

"At that fighter? Our shields won't withstand the return fire!" Yularen protested.

"Not at the ship," Kaelen calmly corrected. "At these exact coordinates. Right here." He pointed to a spot in empty space, halfway between them and the battle. Then, he raised his own portal gun. This one wasn't pink. It was emerald green, stable and silent.

Anakin looked at Kaelen, then at the confidence in Padmé's eyes. He made a decision. "Ordnance officer, load one torpedo! Fire at Director Ror's coordinates!"

"But sir, there's nothing there!" the clone protested.

"DO IT!" Anakin roared.

The torpedo was launched. As it flew towards empty space, Kaelen opened a small, perfect green portal directly in its path. The torpedo vanished inside. An instant later, Kaelen opened a second portal. This one appeared not outside the enemy fighter, but inside its reactor room, right next to the overloaded power core.

The proton torpedo exited the second portal and detonated.

There was no large explosion outside. The enemy ship simply... convulsed. It spasmed in on itself as if in immense pain. A few lights flickered, and then, with a soft pop no one could hear in the vacuum, it imploded, vanishing in a flash of light and leaving only a cloud of sparkling particles.

Silence.

The bridge of the Resolute fell into a deathly silence. The threat, which had been seconds from annihilating fifty thousand people, had been neutralized in less than a minute by two men and a terrified teenager.

Admiral Yularen removed his cap, a gesture of pure astonishment. The clone officers looked at each other, their helmets hiding their shock.

Anakin Skywalker, the Hero With No Fear, the Chosen One, deactivated his lightsaber. He looked at Kaelen and Rick, who were already arguing about the inefficiency of Republic reactors. And for the first time, Anakin understood the true scale of power. The Force was powerful, yes. It could move rocks, influence minds, sense the future.

But these two... these two could rewrite physics on a napkin.

"Well," Rick said, looking at his pink portal gun with disgust. "That was effective, but I still hate this stupid color. It made me feel ridiculously heroic and competent."

"Teamwork makes the dream work, old man," Kaelen replied, making his own portal vanish.

They turned to face the stunned bridge crew. Kaelen offered Anakin a quiet smile.

"Refuge Station secured, General. Now, if you'll excuse us, I believe we have a war to end."
