"Well, what do you think, Paul? Is the outside world as interesting as you thought?" my mother murmured softly.
"Hmm..." I simply mumbled as I settled into a thoughtful position with a hand on my chin.
I had already turned one year old in this world, so my mother took me out of my room for the first time, and the view was...disappointing.
We only walked a few meters until we found a window in the hallway that overlooked part of the outside garden.
There was nothing there, just grass, and in the distance, the mansion wall could be seen.
"Oh? What's wrong, Paul? Isn't this what you expected?" my mother murmured as she slightly adjusted me in her grasp.
"Mmm..." I mumbled again, now frowning.
"Haaa... I knew it, then I'll have to call for help... Elina!!" With a shout, my mother called for a maid, who came running to where we were.
"Lady Valentina...can I help you with something?" the maid murmured.
"Yes, please take Paul for a walk. Don't stray too far... try to go to the gardens."
"Of course, My Lady..." With a bow, the maid took me in her arms, and so we began walking through the halls.
I glanced at my mother curiously.
Why didn't she take me? Now that I think about it, she had a hard time walking out of the room...
Could she be sick?
I frowned again as I looked in my mother's direction, but now I couldn't even speak, so asking about her condition wasn't a possibility.
After walking for a few minutes, we arrived at a balcony of the mansion where I could see a little more of the landscape. We were on the third floor, and below us, I could see some guards and maids doing chores.
Common tasks.
"So, what do you think, young master?" The maid asked while holding me firmly.
Elina, as my mother called her, was a middle-aged maid with blonde hair, blue eyes, and a kind smile.
She is the second person I see the most in my daily life, as she helps my mother with various things, such as dressing her or simply delivering food.
I trusted her, and I could see that my mother did too, so there was no problem.
"Hmm..." I murmured again, but now with a neutral expression.
Deep down, I feel like a prisoner who has just been released from prison after a very long sentence.
Now I just want to run around and explore this place! Not spend all day in that room!
"Haaa... Does the young master want to go explore more?" the maid asked with a tone of resignation.
"Aha!" I nodded with a smile.
She blinked several times in surprise before I realized my mistake.
"Uuuuh..." I shrugged as I looked outside again.
"Okay... y-you win, young master," she said, although I could see the surprise on her face.
I made a mental note to be more cautious about how I behave around adults.
After descending the three floors, the maid led me to a small garden filled with flowers and placed me on the ground.
"...well, you can play here if you want," she muttered softly.
Are you kidding me? How the hell am I supposed to play here? Do you want me to eat dirt, perhaps?!
Uugh... I miss my computer... wait a minute, what's a computer?
"I heard from Lady Valentina that you can walk now, right? It's honestly incredible." Elina pulled me out of my thoughts, and I nodded.
Shit! I did it again!
"I see..." she muttered, narrowing her eyes and then smiling affectionately.
"Go ahead, you can play all you want here."
"..." I looked below me and there was only grass and dirt.
"Uh-huh!" I slowly got up and began to walk slowly.
My butt had filled with grass and now my whole body was itchy.
I frowned again as I walked around the place until a few minutes later I dropped on my butt onto the grass.
"up!" I said, trying to sound like I was babbling as I stretched out my hands.
"I see, it's a little boring after all, isn't it?" she murmured as she picked me up, and so we walked back to my mother's room.
She was, as always, in her bed reading a book, and when she saw me walk in, a beautiful smile spread across her face.
"Paul! Did you have fun?" she murmured as she hugged me tightly.
"Hmm!" I murmured with a smile as I hugged her back.
"I took the young master to the garden where he could play a little."
"I see. It must have been a relief to get out of this room after so long, wasn't it, dear?" my mother asked with a smile, and I nodded.
"Well, if anything else is needed, I'm at your service, Lady Valentina."
"You know, the same as always," my mother said with a wink, and Elina nodded, then left the room.
As usual, I can assume she helps my mother change clothes and bring in food.
Although that requires around three maids daily, and I can see why.
Every time my mother bathes, a maid stays to watch me while my mother enters the bathroom with two other maids. I can see it's somewhat painful for her since I always hear her complaining with soft moans.
I can also see the maid who's watching me blush slightly at the noises.
She must be worried anyway.
But it's worth it since when she's done, my mother comes out of the bathroom with a smile on her face.
So at least that eases my worries a little.
...
Another year has passed since I first opened my eyes which means I am now two years old.
I haven't made much progress in my exploration of the mansion except for going to that garden almost daily In addition to going every night to a huge room where my mother, father and I have dinner.
And yes, I say my father because now I am 100% sure that the only man who comes to visit my mother is my father.
Amarant Notos Greyrat my father's name
Valentina Notos Greyrat my mother's name
And for my part my name is Paul Notos Greyrat.
Simple, right?
As I suspected from the beginning, it seems we are a wealthy family or nobles from some country since despite being a mansion, the technology of this world can be summed up as... medieval.
You can see it from miles away, the rooms, the candles as lighting, the guards using swords and the carriages...
And also for some reason I feel distant from this place, as if something is telling me that this is not my time, for some reason this technology seems very outdated to me but I don't know why.
"...aul... Paul!"
"Eh?..."
"Is something wrong, dear? You look a little distracted," my mother murmured as she wiped the food from my mouth.
"It's nothing," I murmured with a smile.
"Hehe, it's okay" she just smiled as she hugged me tightly.
Haaa...this is life.
Since I started to grow a little, my mother's hugs are summarized in her burying my head in her breasts, at first I was very ashamed of this but over the years I got used to it to the point where I look forward to it and the best way to get it is by being a good boy like I am!
I just can't help it, the feeling of those two soft mountains of flesh on my face is just too good to pass up!
But even as a little boy I try to hold back a little so as not to raise suspicions.
"Lady Valentina, it's time for dinner," Elina the Maid said as she slowly entered the room.
"Oh? I see. Can you take Paul there for me please? I'll go with Lina and Marie to help me."
"As you command, My Lady," she said with a bow, then she took me in her arms and left the room.
After walking for about ten minutes Elina and I arrived at a huge room with a table in the middle.
This was the dining room and since I was one year old I have come to dine here daily.
My father was already here, sitting at the head of the table as he stared at me.
I don't know why, but unlike my mother, my father always has that strict look on his face.
As if he were telling me with his eyes, "I will accept nothing less than perfection from you".
"Elina... Is Valentina on her way?" My father's voice was deep, almost commanding, so I looked away from him and focused on the butlers serving the food.
"Yes, Lidia and Marie are helping her. She asked me to bring Lord Paul first."
"Hmm... I see. Leave Paul in his seat and leave."
"As you command, my lord," she said with a bow, then placed me in my chair next to my father's before leaving the room.
Due to my small stomach, I was served a smaller portion than my father, but it was still a meal that could be considered luxurious in this world.
Terminator wild boar ribs with mashed potatoes, tubers that I don't know where they come from, and for dessert, a fruit cake that I sincerely hate, and plain water and goat's milk.
"Paul..." My father's voice brought me out of my thoughts as I slowly turned my head to look at him. He raised an eyebrow as he looked at me. His gaze always seemed to analyze me, which sincerely made me uncomfortable.
"How have you been, Paul?" my father said suddenly.
"Uh... fine," I mumbled, sounding as childish as I could.
"I see," he replied, and the conversation died.
It's been like this every night, although I don't blame him.
Not everyone would expect to have a fluid conversation with a two-year-old, but the way he looks at me still makes me feel really uncomfortable.
"Sorry I'm late. I got caught up doing some things," my mother's voice was like a lifeline for the awkward situation I was in.
"Okay, we can eat now." With my father's order, we started eating. Dinners in this house are always silent, and I've noticed my mother glance over at me from time to time, making sure I don't make a mess with my food. But with the knowledge in this brain of mine, I realized that playing with food isn't a good thing at all, so I decided to eat formally.
"The young master has such good manners despite his age..."
"It's incredible, and I heard he learned to crawl when he was barely six months old!"
"Really?..."
"I honestly find it hard to believe something like that is possible..."
"Is the young master a genius?!"
The murmurs of the butlers and maids reached my ears as we ate. I couldn't comment, and I swore I saw a small smile on my father's face, so I didn't pay attention to it either.
...
Another month passed and something happened that changed my perspective of this world forever.
It all happened on an ordinary day, Elina and I were in the same garden as always while I was trying to strengthen my little legs.
But it had rained a little the night before so there was a mud puddle near where I was standing.
I'll give you a simple summary, Elina called me so I wouldn't go too far, I answered "ok" but I made the mistake of looking at her with a smile.
I only realized it when I was already on my butt on the ground, but the impact was so strong that I fell on my back and my head hit the ground.
"Young master!" Elina screamed in fear as she ran towards me.
"Haaa..." How pathetic, right? I thought as I sighed.
Elina quickly ran up to me as I got up from the floor. My butt was covered in mud, as was my left cheek.
"..." I remained silent as she picked me up, checking my condition.
"Haaa...what a relief," she sighed when she saw I was okay.
"Yes, but now I'd like to change my clothes, miss!"
"Just to make sure..." she murmured, then placed her hand on my head.
"...Divine power is rich and nourishing. It offers the strength to rise again to those who have lost it. Healing!" With a strange chant, Elina's hand glowed green, and the slight pain in my back immediately dissipated.
"Huh?" With my eyes wide open and my mouth agape like a fish without water, I looked at Elina, who only gave me a tender smile.
"This will be our secret young master, okay?" she murmured, sweat running down her forehead, but I ignored her. That... that was magic?! How the hell is that even possible?!
A world that's not just medieval, but also magical?!!!
This won't be easy...
