After, everything was said and done, alex body started to disappear from white hall where he had stayed and in few second he completely vanished from place
----------
The white void shattered.
Light twisted around Alex like rippling waves, and in the blink of an eye, his form emerged—not on land, not even falling through sky—but hovering in the upper atmosphere of a burning, chaotic world.
Beneath him stretched the realm of Múspellsheimr—a scorched hellscape of obsidian cliffs, lava oceans, and rivers of ash, glowing under a sky choked by flame.
But Alex wasn't falling.
He hovered, weightless, suspended midair as the blazing winds of the realm howled around him.
Fall resistance... it's real.
It was a passive trait mentioned deep in the Spirit Race lore. Now, as a Mutated Spirit, Alex had complete control over his ethereal body.
"Status Panel" Alex said
A soft ding echoed as he opened his status panel:
🔹 Character Status Panel
Name: Honored One
Race: Mutated Spirit
Level: 0
EXP: 0 / 100
Health (HP): ∞ (Temporary Protection Active) [A temporary buff given by the system to prevent fall-death. But it expires after 2 hours. ]
Status Effect: [Atmospheric Descent Safety Protocol: Enabled]
Time Remaining: 01:59:43
That didn't bother him.
The Heartstone's Good Luck Sense had guided him here—to Múspellsheimr, the bottommost leaf on Yggdrasil's Tree.
According to my logic, the thing that makes Múspellsheimr unique is Nidhogg the world serpent, as according to game lore, it sleeps in the roots of a tree, and the roots of a tree are closest to Múspellsheimr
And if Nidhogg starts devouring again, this world will be the first to fall. Which means the greatest secrets... or the greatest threats... lie here.
Rather than descending to the land immediately, Alex turned his gaze downward, beneath Múspellsheimr, toward the swirling space where the Tree's roots vanished into the void.
Let's see what lies closer to the serpent itself.
He began drifting downward.
🌌 1 hour Later...
For hours, Alex moved through the emptiness beyond Múspellsheimr's edge.
The further he traveled, the more unnatural space felt—darker, heavier, pulsing with an ancient tension.
Then, he saw it.
A field of floating debris, vast and jagged, orbiting something unseen.
Among shattered fragments of ancient stone, dead metal, and ruined spires... he saw it:
A massive, pitch-black mountain, floating alone in the void.
It wasn't just made of rock. It seemed to absorb light, consume sound.
As he approached, the system text blinked faintly:
[Warning: Unknown Structure Detected]
Data classification failed.
Origin: ???
Gravitational presence: Moderate.
Entity activity: High (Caution advised).
But Alex didn't stop.
The mountain wasn't a rock.
It was a nest.
Because now he could see them—serpents.
Not ordinary ones. These were astral, coiled through space like living shadows.
He floated closer, invoking another scan.
[Entity: Young Serpent of the Devourer]
Race: Lesser Nidhogg Offspring
Status: Dormant / Unaware
Soul-Class: Level 60-70
Aggression: Passive unless provoked
Children... of the World Devourer.
A rush of instinct flooded him. His eyes narrowed.
Perfect first target.
Since his HP was still infinite, even the venom of these creatures couldn't affect him. Some slashed at his glowing soul-body as he drifted through the coils—but their fangs passed through him like whispers.
He moved deeper.
Into the mountain.
🐍 The Heart of the Nest
The inside of the mountain was not stone, but some kind of hardened flesh or scaled shell. The walls pulsed faintly, alive with heat and soul energy. Dim red light illuminated a vast underground cave.
And inside—
Eggs.
Hundreds of them.
Some the size of fists. Others like horses. Some cracked, some glowing faintly.
But one...
One egg towered above the rest.
At least four stories tall, pulsing with darkness, veined with glowing crimson lines. It rested alone in the center, like a temple of doom.
[Entity: Unhatched Greater Serpent Egg]
Lineage: Direct Descendant of Nidhogg
Status: Dormant
Level: 0 (Unborn)
Soul-Class: (____)
Stability: High Threat: ???
Alex stared at it.
It was still Level 0.
And so was he.
Perfect match.
His spectral form drifted closer.
The rules said I can only possess creatures of equal or lower level... and only once per species.
Then this... will be my first.
He reached out, his spirit flaring. The cold darkness of the egg responded.
It began to glow.
