I placed the completed daggar on the rack at the back of the Smithy, this rack is designated for 'complete' orders. I choose to make a bronze chest scale armour next, pulling out 5 copper bars from under the workbench and place them in the furnace.
After a few moments the bars are ready to be worked, and I don't delay. I start by slivering off strips from one of the bars, each around half an inch square and an eighth of an inch thick. Pounding each sliver twice, they become slightly curved with a dragons scale appearance.
Making 4 of the 5 bars into these scales, I make the last bar into a pile of thin rods. As I polish all the pieces and stack them up, ready to be assembled. It didn't take me long before I was holding up a shimmering scale male armour chest plate.
Once again, I am greeted by a few notifications. The first notification was the normal item crafted prompt, and it said,
"You have crafted fine bronze scale armour (uncommon) (masterwork)"
The second notification was for my proficiency, and it simply said,
"Your bronze proficiency has raised to advanced, using bronze is now more efficient."
The last screen was the items description, although this one was interesting, because it wanted me to name the item. Looking at the design of the armour, it looks like layered dragon scales. Taking this into account I named the piece bronze dragon mail.
Bronze dragon mail
Fine bronze scale armour (uncommon) (masterwork)
A flawless bronze scale armour, hand crafted by a master crafter. This armour is unmatched by anything currently crafted.
Defense: 30
Duribilty: 50
Attributes: Constitution +5
This time there was no special feature like the dagger, however it did say something about being unmatched by anything currently in its class. Taking a moment to look at my own armour, which only had a defence of 10 and made from iron. I could see the advantage of this bronze armour, a huge smile stretching across my face. I crafted a few other pieces for the orders all being fine quality, uncommon, and masterwork.
Looking at the bronze items on the rack, there is a total of 6 items. Thanks to my increased proficiency with bronze, which is now at the intermediate level, I completed all the bronze orders in a matter of just a few hours only using 14 bronze bars leaving 6 under the workbench.
Andron comes back to check on my progress, only to be held speechless at the items I have crafted. "These are all of such great quality, and they are all uncommon as well!" Andy mused in disbelief.
I beamed happily at Andy's words, before asking if they were satisfactory. Andy smiled and tossed me a silver coin. "Above expectations to be sure!" Andy said as he smiled. " I will return tomorrow to start on the iron items. its getting really late, and I'm starting to get hungry." I said storing away my smithing hammer.
Andy nods in understanding and said, "Vary well, I'll see to tomorrow." I prepared to leave then remembered the bronze bars, "I managed to complete all bronze items with some bronze bars leftover." Andy was again struck speechless for a moment, before finally saying "how?"
I shrugged and said, "It must be my intermediate level proficiency in bronze working." Andy looked at me in bewilderment. "What do you mean intermediate level proficiency, I'm only a basic level proficiency?" Andy questioned. I looked at him in shock, not fully understanding what I just heard. How could I be at the third level of proficiency, while this old black smith was still only at the second level.
After a short chat with Andy, I finally say goodnight and make my way back to the inn. Once there, I pay for another 10 days, giving me 14 days paid. I still had another 54 copper pieces after getting my change. Getting my daily meal and 2 tankerds of ale, I find my self a seat and begin scarfing it down. Finishing with a loud belch, I pat my full belly and get up, accidentally bumping into another patron, a large human adorned in full plate armour.
"Watch where your going munchkin!" The man yelled. "My apologies, you over grown tin can." I said in return. The man laughed at my remark and said, "I like you little man, you got guts, I'm Torvin. What's your name?"
I replied, "I'm Matthew, and stop calling me little man." Torvin laughed, a booming belly laugh, and then replied, "Vary well Matthew, care to sit with us? Here" He gestured excitedly "These are my party members."
He then pointed to each one as he introduced them, "Helga, she's our mage. Furdi, she's our rouge. Hector here, is our ranger. And you have already met me. I'm a paladin, the shield tank of this group." He finished in a wide smile "We do have one more but he's at the temple right now, his name is Dominic and he's a Claric, our groups healer."
I nod to each of them, and take a seat. "It's a pleasure to meet all of you, you all seem to be geared for battle." I said with a slight bit of amusement at the group. Taking note of the high quality gear and powerful people in front of me. "So what brings you to Thescia?" I ask slowly.
