As I got out of bed in a hurry, I didn't notice the woman as the bell rang out loud. Getting dressed, I only realized the woman after they got up in a hurry to dress. We left the bedroom to meet the members of Red Roses, as they too had donned their gear. 'Victoria, please take care of your members first. I know you're part of the Night Raptors, but you're also the leader of The Red Roses, and they need you now.' I said, shocking the members of The Red Roses, as they thought I would force them to fall under my command, but I wouldn't do that. I prefer not to force people to do things against their will unless absolutely necessary.
She smiled and nodded. 'Okay, Jacob. We will meet you at the city wall, please be safe.' She said as they made their way to the Adventure's Office. Josephine and Genevieve accompanied me to the Mercenary Office, and as we entered, the place was packed as the head came downstairs to speak. 'The Count has offered all mercenaries five gold a day to all mercenaries who fight and kill five people per day.' He said, making me smirk, as that isn't too bad of a deal, as we listened in on the briefing until he looked over at me. 'The Night Raptors, please follow me to the Count's place. We will need your help with the battle to come.' He said before letting everyone go.
I walked by Evelyn and tapped her, signaling her to lean down as I whispered into her ear. 'After this is done, would you like to have dinner with me?' I asked her, making her shocked as she looked at me and chuckled. 'Aren't you a little young for dating?' She said, rolling her eyes as I smirked. 'Well, why don't you ask Josephine if I am anything but little?' I said, making her look at Josephine with a deadpan expression. Josephine turned her face away, whistling like she doesn't know what's going on. 'You can think about it, Evelyn. Just give me your answer after the battle.' I said as her father was walking this way. She became quiet while we left the Office.
Making our way to the Count's mansion, as we entered, I noticed a woman in armor. She was in her mid to late thirties, but the way she carried herself and the vibe she gave me was strong. Almost on the level of John, as she looked over at me and nodded with a gentle smile. 'Jacob, you're here. This is my wife, Joan. She will be leading the city's defense. I have a mission I would like to ask of you, and I am willing to pay you the same as before.' He said as I looked at his wife, her body was amazing, but I pushed those thoughts to the back of my mind for the time being as I turned my head towards him. 'What kind of mission?' I asked.
'I want you to use the Escape tunnel in this mansion, and when they attack the city, I want you to kill the General of the Army. We must break their will to fight and rout them here. The nobles are amassing an army, but it will take them a few days to get here. I don't think they will make it in time, but I believe you can. My wife had just returned from scouting the bodies and backed up your claim of killing Earth Dragons. This mission is something I can only leave in your hands, Jacob.' He said, looking at me seriously as I thought for a moment and nodded. 'It is risky, but I am willing to do it. But I ask if I am to fall in this battle, I want your word that you will take care of my women and children as I plan to go to the battlefield alone.' I said, making Josephine speak. 'I want to come!' She yelled, making me shake my head.
'No, I want you two to join The Red Roses during this fight. I don't know if I can fight worry about you two, plus I do not know who this General is, but I know he is strong. I will have to be on edge this whole fight and having you by my side will make me split my focus.' I said, looking at Josephine, who bit her lip while squeezing her hands before finally sighing and nodding. She knew he was worried about her and the child she might be caring for; she hadn't had the time to talk to a healer yet to find out if she was pregnant, so he was being cautious with her. 'I will do what you ask, but please return to me.' She said with a tear falling down her cheek as I walked over and pulled her arm, making her lean forward. I wiped the tear away, then kissed her. 'I don't plan on dying anytime soon, Josephine.' I said, smiling.
Genevieve was wearing a mask, as I didn't want anyone to know who she was just yet. However, she watched the way I talked to Josephine, and part of her desired someone to care for her like that. Growing up in the palace, it was all political motive if someone cared for you or not; she had to prove herself time and time again, but even then, it wasn't enough, as she was a woman. She started to feel strange emotions for this boy named Jacob as she watched everything quietly. 'I will head out within the hour, Count. Do you agree to my terms?' I said as he looked at me and smiled, nodding his head. 'Your women and children will be taken care of if you die on the battlefield, if you pull this off, I will reward you a thousand gold coins.' He said.
I nodded and sent the two women away as I looked out from his mansion at the Army as I spoke. 'How many are there? I had to have killed around 20,000.' I said when an elegant voice spoke up. 'You killed 22,457. At least that's what I counted.' Joan said as her husband left the room, leaving the two of us looking out the window. 'Thank you for risking your life for the city.' She said, bowing with a hand over her heart. 'You don't need to thank me, this war has taken everything from me. So I can't just let this continue, or it will take from others just as it had taken from me.' I said, shocking her. She looked at me with interest as to how a child could think so clearly and deeply about life. Shouldn't they be worried about whether their friends like them at this age? What kind of life did this Jacob live as she thought while smiling gently?
Thirty minutes later, Joan guided me to the tunnel, which was small; only one person could fit walking down it. 'God speed, Jacob.' She said, placing a hand on my head and kissing my forehead as she leaned down, making me get a full view of her ample chest, making me cough and nod. I started to make my way down the tunnel, which took me close to an hour to walk. As I came to a set of stairs, I pushed open a trap door inside an old cabin. Looking around before opening it completely, I stepped into the room. Looking out the window first to make sure no one was outside, I left the cabin after summoning Adam. I made haste towards the city, and I slowed down once I could hear the sound of drums. I looked out onto the battlefield, and I saw that the Army was ready to make its move.
I waited for them to start to attack as a man with a white beard walked out from within the Army on a horse. He felt like my teacher, making me squint. His silver armor and broadsword shone in the light as he pointed his sword towards the city, and the Army started to move. I knew my target, the sinister-looking man, was next to him at this time. 'So that's the General, this will be a lot harder than I thought, as I started to sweat.' I said, taking a deep breath and looking at him. The moment the Army got close to the wall, I rushed out of the forest, summoning all of my Dinos. As they roared their fierce roars, the General looked over and glared.
'I will take charge, this boy has been a thorn in my side!' He yelled as he and the sinister-looking man took the cavalry and charged us. The battle has finally kicked off; the fate of Guel will be decided in this one fight. Gripping my bow tightly, I grabbed an Epic-rank arrow and poured three types of element nature magic into it, firing it at the General as it flew with great speed. His sword shinnied, and he swung it, sending a magic shockwave as the arrow and shockwave met the ground, cracking under it before exploding. 'Fuck me.' That was all I could think of to say.
