Chapter 11 (Bom POV): The Queen, the City, and the Chicken
After I killed a Lamburian alone, by myself, like the impressive, heroic, devastatingly handsome immortal doctor I am—we finally reached Zarethune.
The city? Big.
Bigger than Regsialand. More modern too. Outside → a giant stone wall, thick and tall, wrapping the city like a protective shield. Smart. Monsters didn't play around here.
Faye pressed her face against the window. "Wow… it's beautiful."
Regis smiled like a lovesick poet. "Not as beautiful as you."
She blushed. Smiled. Looked down shyly.
I stuck my tongue out. Disgusting. Romantic in front of me? I'm the only one allowed to flirt with them here. Rude.
We rolled deeper into the city, through busy streets, until we reached the main castle. Impressive. Huge. Money could practically be smelled in the air.
Regis adjusted his cloak. "Let's go. She should be waiting. I sent word days ago."
We all stepped out of the carriage. The guards checked our names, glanced at us suspiciously (especially me—jealous of such a handsome me obviously !), then waved us through. Inside → straight to the throne room.
A few minutes later… she entered.
No. A goddess entered.
Flowing white dress. Long, rich orange hair. Emerald green eyes. Regal posture.
Bob's jaw? Wide open. Caught flies.
Clavis? Blinked like he'd been rebooted.
She smiled at Regis but before she could speak—
I waved awkwardly. "Hi! I'm Bom. Famous. Handsome. Doctor. You must be the legendary, beautiful Zare."
Regis rolled his eyes like it physically hurt him.
Zare chuckled. "I am. And you must be Regis's newest headache."
She turned to Regis with a warm smile. "It's been too long, my friend."
Then to Faye. "And this lovely lady must be?"
Faye stepped forward. "I'm Faye, Your Highness."
Regis quickly added, "My pretty fiancée."
Zare raised an eyebrow but nodded politely. Then she glanced at the rest of us.
Before Hector or Clavis could speak—
"BOB! Single since birth!" Bob yelled, raising both hands like he was declaring war.
Hector shoved him aside. "I'm Hector, Your Highness."
Clavis, : "Clavis. …Also single."
I almost choked holding in my laugh. Clavis?! The cold knight? Into Zare? I filed that for later blackmail material.
Zare ignored the circus, looking at Regis. "So… you want to go to Lordor. May I ask why?"
Regis tensed. "I can't explain now, but it's important. I swear on my crown."
Zare studied him, thoughtful. Then smiled. "I trust you. But be careful. The monsters aren't your only enemies. The other kingdoms…" She trailed off.
"I know," Regis said firmly. "But I'm not alone."
Zare's gaze drifted across our weird little group. "Clearly."
She softened again. "I wish you luck. Truly. You should eat before heading out. The journey through the wilds will be brutal."
"Wait." I raised my hand. "Chicken restaurant here?"
She smiled. "Of course. Every kind of restaurant."
Regis glared at me. "We'll go. I wanted to greet you first, Zare."
Faye stepped forward. "Thank you for your kindness."
"Welcome, all of you," Zare replied, graceful as ever. "Stay in the city as long as you wish. The danger is once you cross that outer gate."
We started walking back toward the doors. But before we left, I caught something strange—
Clavis… glancing at Zare with what could only be described as puppy eyes.
Clavis. Puppy. Eyes.
Was I dreaming? The second coldest knight in Regsialand falling for a queen? " cause obviously hector is the N1 coldest night ... "
Someone write this down , this will entre history ! . I need this for later.
As we stepped back into the city streets, Regis was talking about finding a motel.
I was already searching for the chicken.
Priorities.
