Two hours had passed and they were still climbing the hill, at least seeing the top of the hill gave Malcon strength to continue. And as the vice captain predicted, Bane was closest to the top.
Their stay on the island has not been so bad, apart from the captain's brutal training. After meeting the king of Eleanor, he sent them to this island in the middle of nowhere, to keep them out from the nose of any scout in the three world powers.
He wanted them to train solely on their martial art for a whole year, before taking them to a school where their magic and cultivation will be enhanced. But the training would soon be over, as today would make it a year of their stay on this island.
Few minutes later bane was already at the top, he quickly dropped his bucket and ran to the bell pinned to the ground, and with great strength slammed the bell with a stick he picked from the ground. The sound of the bell echoed through the forest, signifying there was a winner.
"Finally." Malcon shouted as he climbed up to the top, and dropped his bucket. But when he looked at bane, he saw him standing still, as though he had been petrified. Following his gaze, Malcon eyes widened in surprise.
Adrian was lying on the grass using a small rock as his pillow as the cool breeze smashed in his face.
"How… How long have you been here?" Malcon asked.
"not sure…over an hour ago." he replied, still staring at the blue cloudless sky.
The fourth person to get to the top was Megan, then slowly the rest turned up. When the twenty five of them had gathered they decided to go down. Going down was a lot easier than climbing up, and ofcourse more fun, they kept on pouring each other the water from the bucket as they ran down.
"I must congratulate you all for successfully completing your training." the captain said smiling.
"and before I forget…who was the last person to get to the top?" the captain asked.
Malcon was expecting Sam to step forward, but instead he saw ivy. She had pink long hair that flowed gracefully down to her waist, her glowing pink eyes were now deem, and her face filled with embarrassment. Her sister Megan was the fourth person that got to the top of the hill.
"looks like you had a long fall?" the captain asked, noticing that her cloth was wet.
"What about Sam?" someone shouted in the crowd.
"ohh…Sam broke both his hand and his left leg after falling from the hill the seventh time, and he is currently being treated." the vice captain answered.
"And who is the first person that got to the top?" the captain asked.
The vice captain turned her gaze to both Megan and Bane, but none of them looked as though they were willing to come out. Her eyes widened in disbelief as she saw Adrian step forward. He was a boy with messy white hair, he had a cloudy, yet pale eyes, his well defined chin and well sculpted jawline gave him a defined look.
"Congrats." the captain said, with a smirk on his face, shaking adrian.
"And for the rest of you, you're free to do whatever you want, but make sure you return back before sundown." the captain said, leaving.
They had all decided to go to the beach. Quickly taking their bath, they went to the dining hall, where they had their breakfast.
Halfway through the breakfast, the door to the dinning hall slowly opened and Sam walked in like a celebrity, smiling as though the stage lights were on him. On seeing him everybody laughed and at the same time clapping for him.
"You're coming to the beach, right?" Bane asked Malcon immediately after he finished his meal.
"Yeah." malcon replied.
"I will be waiting for you there." he said running off with the first set that had finished their breakfast "but don't keep me waiting." he shouted running off.
By the time Malcon was done with his meal everyone had already gone down to the beach.
Standing up he took his empty plate to the dish room, where he saw Emliy still washing the dishes. She was obviously angry, and expressed her anger to the pitiful plate she was washing. Malcon was not interested in consoling anyone. He dropped his plate beside the girl.
"If you don't mind." she said before Malcon could leave," could you wait for me, let's go down to the beach together." she pleaded.
"I'll be in my room, if you're done call me." Malcon said leaving.
"thanks." he heard her mutter under her breath.
He walked up the stairs to the boys room but came to a halt, when he heard the vice captain laughing. He smiled at the thought of Lavander's face if he told him.
He lay down on his bed, waiting for Emily and that was when he noticed something. He had never seen the house this quiet, even at midnight, Sam's loud snore usually breaks the silence of the night.
After about ten minutes, he was sure Emliy was done with the dishes. He got up from his bed and changed into his swim suit. That was when he caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror, and was surprised with how his body structure had changed in just one year, his abs were more visible.
"Malcon!" Emliy shouted.
On hearing his name Malcon quickly walked out of the room. But suddenly bumped into someone, he knew it was a girl as he could feel the softness of her chest on his. There was a loud thud as they both fell to the ground, and Malcon eyes interlocked with a deep sea blue eye, for a while they lay down staring at each other. Malcon could feel her warm breath on his face, he had never been this close to a girl, so close that their lips were only inches apart. Suddenly It looked like her consciousness had drifted back into her, as her eyes widened and she quickly stood up.
"I…am sorry." Megan said as her cheek slowly turned red.
Malcon was surprised on seeing the so-called emotionless girl blush. Looking at her once more, Malcon couldn't deny the fact that she was a beautiful girl.
Her black long hair gleamed as though it was polished, her oval face well sculpted, her nose was small yet round, she had tiny red lips, and her cheeks bloomed like roses. Seeing her in a swimsuit made it impossible to look away, the swim suit hugged her body perfectly displaying the outline of her delicate body.
Malcon stood up from the floor dusting himself.
"Emily told me to call you…we're waiting downstairs," she stammered.
"Eden!" Emliy shouted
"What took you so long?" she asked on seeing Malcon and Megan. And without waiting for an answer she jugged outside and Megan ran after her.
In about twenty minutes they arrived at the beach.
"yeeeeee!" Emliy shouted, diving into the water.
Malcon walked over to bane who sat on the sand
"Where have you been?" he asked on seeing Malcon.
" I had to wait for Emily before coming out," Malcon replied.
"captain Wayne got a letter from the king" bane said " and i overheard him talking about the letter with the vice captain"
"What was the content of the letter?" Malcon asked.
"the king will visit in two days from now" bane replied.
"forget about the king… let's go and swim," Malcon said, dragging Bane to his feet.
After swimming, they played volleyball and went hunting. When they were done hunting, they created a fire and steamed all they had haunted and ate till their fill.
"We should get going," Clara said, remembering what the captain said. But some insisted that they finished the meat before going.
After eating the meat, they organized themself in a queue, and started their journey back to the house. It was almost sundown and they had to hurry.
"Did you see sam?"
"Did you see sam?"
"Did you see sam?"
"Did you see sam?"
The question kept on passing till it reached Malcon.
"no he answered".
Since nobody saw Sam they had to stop, while some boys went in search of him. Four minutes later they returned without Sam.
"Let's leave sam…it's almost sundown," a girl proposed.
"Were not leaving anyone behind" lavander snapped, and they went back to look for him.
****
Sam did not even know how he got lost, all he knew was that during the hunt, he lost contact with his friends. Since then he had been trying to locate the beach, but it looked like he was going deeper into the forest.
It was already sundown and he could barely see, so he decided to sit at a spot and wait for them to find him, but what visited him was a very large snake. On seeing the snake he took a few steps back but tripped on a stone and rolled down a hill like place.
By the time he stopped rolling he was sure he had lost the snake, but he felt so dizzy that he couldn't even stand up. Suddenly a huge shadow casted above him and when he looked up, his eyes interlocked with a blood red eye.
