Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: Settling Arrangements

The Demonic Wrath Fire Lotus was a technique Xiao Yan had created in his previous life. It was also the dou skill that had made him famous. In those early days, he hadn't cultivated any profound techniques—barely a handful of even Profound Class ones. He had relied entirely on this self-created fire lotus technique to survive countless ordeals.

Even after acquiring more advanced battle skills later on, he still spent a great deal of time refining this one. In time, it surpassed the original Profound Class level, reaching heights that even Heaven Class techniques struggled to match.

The technique involved merging various flames and triggering their destructive properties to form a fearsome fire lotus. It was this technique that earned him the title "Demonic Wrath Saint" in his past life.

Once he obtained the Purifying Lotus Demonic Flame, the power of his fire lotus soared to its peak. To further enhance the effects of his clan's bloodline seal, he went out of his way to obtain two more powerful Heavenly Flames and fused them into the fire lotus. The result was a cataclysmic lotus that even high-tier Dou Saints would dread.

In this life, Xiao Yan chose to cultivate the Flame Mantra for the same reason. When he first saw the technique, it felt as though it had been crafted specifically for him. After all, the fire lotus's power depended on the quality of the flames—and the strongest flames in this world were without question the Heavenly Flames.

In his past life, he had only used common flames, and so the lotus's power remained at the Profound level. But now, with Flame Mantra, he could refine multiple Heavenly Flames. The Demonic Wrath Fire Lotus would undoubtedly become even more terrifying than before.

That said, with his current strength, cultivating a high-tier technique like Flame Conjuring Technique was still extremely difficult. If not for having refined the soul of the Blackflame Cloud Sculpt, which drastically enhanced his soul power, he likely wouldn't have even completed the first step.

Even so, it took him four whole months just to create the initial spark of the Transforming Flame. His next goal was to gather various beast flames to further empower it, ensuring it could support the use of his Fire Lotus. Unfortunately, he hadn't yet gathered enough beast blood to complete the preparation—if he had, he'd already have another trump card in hand.

'Time to move on,' Xiao Yan exhaled softly. Though he had spent most of these past few months tempering the Transforming Flame, he hadn't neglected his Dou Qi cultivation. His current level already rivaled that of his father back in Wu Tan City—perhaps even surpassed it in true combat power.

"Planning to leave already?" Yao Lao teased. "What are you going to do with your little live-in wife? Just abandon her here?"

"You don't need to worry about that. I have plans," Xiao Yan ignored the teasing tone and calmly walked toward the small wooden house he had built.

Xiao Yixian sat by the little medicine furnace as usual, fiddling with her new prescription. When she saw Xiao Yan, she was surprised.

"You're back early today? I haven't even started cooking yet."

Before she could stand, Xiao Yan gently pressed her shoulder and smiled.

"Take a break. I'll cook today."

"You know how to cook?" Xiao Yixian looked skeptical. Xiao Yan had never taken the initiative to cook before. Sure, he'd grilled fish, but that was hardly the same as preparing a full meal.

"Truth is, I'm the greatest chef on the Dou Qi Continent."

"Braggart." Naturally, she didn't believe him, but when she tasted the meal he prepared, she had to admit—his cooking was far better than hers.

"Damn you, why does it taste so good? What if I get fat because of you?"

"You're just a kid. Eat more so you can grow," Xiao Yan grinned.

"Stop acting like you're not a kid too," Xiao Yixian grumbled. "So tell me, why the sudden kindness? What's with the fancy dinner?"

"Because I'm leaving. This meal is my way of thanking you for cooking all this time."

"You're leaving?" She paused, then nodded. "Alright… I guess it's been getting a little boring here anyway. So, when are we leaving?"

"A few days from now. I need to arrange a place for you first."

When she heard that, panic flickered in her eyes.

"You mean… you're not taking me with you?"

After all this time spent together, she had become deeply reliant on him. And that was precisely what Xiao Yan intended. The future Heavenly Poison Woman was still just a child. By isolating her and showing up to help at the critical moments, he could plant an indelible mark in her heart.

"Yes. The place I'm going is too dangerous. Bringing you along would be inconvenient," Xiao Yan said calmly. "Don't worry, I've already arranged a place for you. Didn't you always want to become a doctor who saves lives? I'll get you your own clinic."

"But..." Xiao Yixian opened her mouth to protest, but seeing the unshakable look on his face, she fell silent and returned to her food, visibly upset.

"Alright, don't look so down. Want to know where I'm sending you?" Xiao Yan smiled at her sulking. He knew all his efforts over the past months had paid off and wasn't about to waste them now.

"Where?"

"My hometown—Wu Tan City," he replied evenly.

Even if he wasn't bringing her to the Chu Yun Empire, he would never let her out of his control. Wu Tan City was the Xiao Family's territory, making it the perfect place to settle her. Besides, the gold and techniques he had found in the mountain cave weren't of much use to him now—he could pass them to his father to bolster their strength.

"You're from Wu Tan City?" Xiao Yixian blinked in surprise. Though the city was small by Jia Ma Empire standards, compared to her tiny village, it was practically a metropolis. Even compared to the largest nearby town, it was a giant.

"I'm not just from Wu Tan City. I'm the young master of the Xiao Family," Xiao Yan joked. "Just stay there quietly, and I'll come get you after I finish my business."

Xiao Yan understood that to truly win someone over, you didn't need to stay by their side constantly. Only by leaving them for a time would they realize your importance. That way, when you returned, their attachment would be even stronger.
