Chapter 16 - Trust Level Increased

"Fire Style: Great Dragon Fire Technique!"

Obito quickly made hand signs, gathering chakra throughout his body and into his mouth. He completed the nature and shape transformation at top speed, spewing out a fiercely burning fire dragon that charged rapidly towards Uchiha Tekka.

Uchiha Tekka had grown increasingly surprised during their close-quarters combat. He hadn't expected Obito to have improved so much over just one break; he had made significant progress compared to his third year.

Seeing Obito making hand signs to release a ninjutsu, Uchiha Tekka immediately began his own hand signs, preparing to use a ninjutsu to directly counter Obito. He refused to believe that if Obito's taijutsu had improved so much, his ninjutsu could have improved as well. He didn't believe he would lose to Obito in a ninjutsu clash.

"Fire Style: Great Fireball Technique!" Uchiha Tekka unleashed his chakra, blowing out a human-sized fireball towards Obito.

On one side was a fierce fire dragon with bared fangs, and on the other, a powerful, raging fireball. The two ninjutsu were about to collide.

"I envy them, they've already learned offensive ninjutsu."

Many of the observing students felt envious. Some of them hadn't even mastered the Three Basic Jutsu, let alone learned new ninjutsu, nor did they have the means to learn them.

"No, you call this a dead-last?" Students from other classes were surprised. They had originally come to see Uchiha Tekka's strength, but discovered that Obito could actually use such a well-executed Fire Style ninjutsu. At this level, he couldn't be called a dead-last; "honor student" was closer.

"But I still think Uchiha Tekka is stronger. His fireball looks much larger than Uchiha Obito's fire dragon," someone commented. He thought that in a ninjutsu clash, the seemingly larger Great Fireball would definitely win.

"Truly worthy of an Uchiha. I didn't expect this Uchiha Obito to hide his strength so well. Even if he's not as good as Uchiha Tekka, with this strength, he could hope to get first place in my class. It's a shame his theoretical grades are too poor," Kimura Sanjin lamented as he graded the two.

Students from prestigious ninja clans were just different. In his student days, he was content just mastering the Three Basic Jutsu. Based on Obito's taijutsu performance and the ninjutsu he displayed, even if he was eliminated in the first round, he would give Obito a decent score.

Just as the two ninjutsu were about to collide, the fire dragon suddenly soared upwards, avoiding a collision with the Great Fireball, and continued to rush towards Uchiha Tekka. Meanwhile, Obito moved swiftly, dodging the Great Fireball while controlling the Great Dragon Fire.

Uchiha Tekka hadn't expected Obito to be so underhanded, not continuing the ninjutsu clash. However, he was momentarily helpless; a Great Fireball couldn't turn corners. Seeing the fire dragon steadily approaching, Uchiha Tekka tried to dodge but found it was too late. He could only grit his teeth and prepare to take the hit, bracing for injury.

Just then, Muyue, who had been ready, made his move. He used the Body Flicker Technique to appear beside Uchiha Tekka, bringing him out of the combat area before setting him down.

"Thank you, Sensei," Uchiha Tekka thanked Muyue. Without Muyue's intervention, injury would have been unavoidable.

Muyue nodded in acknowledgment, then announced the result of the battle: "First match, Uchiha Obito wins."

Some of the observing students hadn't fully processed what happened; the situation had changed too rapidly in an instant. They had been ready to watch a Fire Style showdown, but suddenly Obito pulled off a cheeky move, ending the battle in an instant. If the teacher hadn't intervened, Uchiha Tekka might even have been injured.

"This Uchiha Obito is not to be underestimated," an observing student looked at Obito with apprehension. Uchiha Tekka's human-sized fireball certainly looked impressive, but in reality, it wasn't easy to hit with in most situations. Obito's Great Dragon Fire Technique, however, was different. Although its attack range wasn't large, it was extremely flexible and easier to hit the opponent with.

"Well done, Obito!" Rin Nohara congratulated Obito with a happy expression. She was genuinely happy for Obito. Having defeated Uchiha Tekka head-on in the practical exam meant that even with poor theoretical grades, no one would call Obito a "dead-last" anymore. After all, ninjas ultimately had to rely on their strength.

As Obito walked over, he heard Rin Nohara's praise and immediately broke into a triumphant smile, saying proudly, "Hehe, I told you it would be fine!"

At this moment, Obito was incredibly grateful to Muyue. He knew what all this change was due to: becoming Muyue's disciple and receiving Muyue's careful guidance every day. If it were his old self, he probably would have been disoriented by Uchiha Tekka's punches during the taijutsu clash.

[Disciple Uchiha Obito's trust level has increased. Current trust level: Three]

Muyue was reading the exam roster when a system message popped up. He glanced at Obito, who was currently smiling widely and saying something to Rin Nohara.

"Looks like being a love-struck fool isn't without its benefits," Muyue thought to himself.

Trust levels were very difficult to raise because even a single level-up brought a significant increase, directly doubling the benefits and enhancing the effects of disciple returns. The reason why Shisui and the others hadn't returned much chakra before was that they hadn't reached the period of rapid strength growth yet. If they reached that period, and Shisui gained 10,000 chakra, a higher trust level would mean an additional 10,000 chakra.

Muyue's expectation was to have one trust level three within a semester. Obito reaching level three in a month was an unexpected gain.

The subsequent battles weren't as intense as the first. Generally, there were no situations that required a teacher's intervention. Muyue sat on his chair, grading students based on their performance, and chatted idly with Kimura Sanjin.

If it weren't for supervising the exam, Muyue would have wandered around, using his appraisal skill to see if there were any hidden geniuses. He had four disciple slots, currently only three were filled, leaving one empty. Without knowing if the number of disciple slots could increase, Muyue didn't plan to use this slot on anyone with potential below S-rank. The higher the disciple's potential, the more rewards he would receive in the future. There were many geniuses in Konoha, and the ninja world was vast. There was no need to rush to fill the slots; an additional disciple wouldn't bring much improvement in a short time.

Muyue opened his panel and checked his attributes.

[Name: Hanyu Muyue] [Age: 18]

[Chakra: 5300]

[Skills: Water Style: Water Severing Wave, Fire Style: Great Dragon Fire Technique, Water Style: Water Wall, Wind Style: Pressure Damage...]

[Evaluation: You have mastered numerous ninjutsu, including many advanced ones, allowing you to handle various situations. Ordinary Jonin are no match for you.]

In fact, his improvement speed was quite fast. He gained 1,000 chakra in a month, and his ninjutsu went from just two to dozens, including powerful ones like Water Severing Wave. Just by looking at the panel, he could easily defeat his past self when he first transmigrated.

The morning passed, and the first two rounds of battles quickly concluded. However, Might Guy wasn't able to prove himself like Obito, because his opponents were relatively ordinary. Although Might Guy dealt with them cleanly and efficiently, it wasn't enough to completely change people's perceptions of him. But Muyue knew this was only a matter of time, as the internal class practical exams would conclude in the afternoon, and then a class first-place winner would be decided.
