Adam spotted Emily navigating the bustling streets. He teleported ahead, blocking her path, and tried to speak, but Emily simply sidestepped him and continued walking.
Maybe she didn't notice me, Adam thought, desperately trying to convince himself.
He teleported again as she headed towards a tavern, appearing at the entrance. He waved, trying to catch her attention before speaking. Emily, seeing him, turned 180 degrees and walked away even faster. She definitely noticed me this time, Adam conceded with a sigh.
Desperate for her to remember, Adam's mind raced. He was convinced that if Emily simply touched his heart, her memories would flood back, and she'd embrace him. Driven by this thought, he teleported into an alley, intending to cut her off. Emily gasped in shock as he suddenly appeared from around the corner.
"Wait!" Adam pleaded, reaching out. "I just need your hand..." Before he could finish, Emily shrieked and sprinted away.
Adam, frantic, chased after her. Emily, seeing him gaining, pushed herself even faster. Adam briefly lost sight of her, so he teleported into the sky and spotted her hiding in another alley. He reappeared around the corner, trying to stop her.
"What do you want?!" Emily screamed, startled by his sudden appearance.
Adam waved both hands, trying to signal he meant no harm. "I just need you to touch..."
Before he could complete his sentence, Emily screamed again and ran as fast as she could.
Adam, in disbelief, used his powers to pursue her. Lightning struck the ground as he blurred forward, almost catching her despite her head start. Seeing him close in, Emily used her magic to enhance her speed, dashing through the kingdom's entrance and out into the wilderness, hoping to lose him in the forest.
Adam teleported into the sky, tracking her mana signature hidden within the trees. He reappeared beside her, causing her to shriek in terror before jumping away into a defensive stance, drawing her sword.
"Stop!" Adam shouted, "I don't mean any harm!"
"Stay back!" she screamed, her voice cracking. "I know you've been looking at my body with perverted eyes, and you've been doing it every time we meet!"
"No!" Adam cried, utterly shocked. "It's not what you think!"
"You said it yourself!" Emily's voice cracked, shaking. "You wanted my hands!"
"No, please listen!" Adam retorted, exasperated. "I didn't mean it in a perverted way!"
"Yeah, you meant what, then?" Emily shot back, her fear turning to anger. "You sick pervert! You even said you want me to touch you!"
Adam was profoundly confused and flabbergasted by her twisted conclusion. "It's not what you think, seriously!"
Emily grew more afraid as Adam stepped closer. "You chased me all the way here! Knowing I'm alone and want me to touch you, you sick freak! You think you can do whatever you want, pervert?! I am a knight, and I can easily kill you!"
Adam held his hands out in a placating gesture. "Yes, you're a knight. I'm not here to do anything perverted to you. I just want you to listen to what I have to say."
Emily, still defensive but trying to be fair, finally relented. "Okay, fine. As a knight, I'll try to hear you out."
Adam, relieved to see some progress, quickly explained, "If your hand just touches my heart, you'll understand everything."
Emily gulped. Still holding her sword in one hand, she tentatively extended her other hand towards Adam, trying to summon the courage to touch his heart, though still wary and disgusted by her perception of him as a pervert.
