Chapter 90 - Emily's memories fades of the other world

Emily spent her days immersed in a life she once thought lost, reliving cherished moments with her parents. Unsure how long this reunion would last, her parents poured all their energy into reclaiming the time they'd missed, engaging in activities Emily had been forbidden from due to her illness.

Her presence filled them with a joy and love they once believed was gone forever. They yearned to see their daughter truly smile again, living life to the fullest by their side. Each day unfolded with outings and heartfelt conversations.

Given her past circumstances, Emily couldn't simply return to school. Her parents, desperate to maximize their time with her, even considered quitting their jobs.

Emily, however, insisted they shouldn't. She reassured them she could wait for them to come home from work. Her parents compromised, taking half-days and refusing overtime, ensuring they were always there for her. Emily explained she would stay as long as they needed her and expressed a desire to revisit this world she'd lost and reconnect with old friends.

Fading Memories and a Haunting Feeling

As time wore on, Emily's memories of the other world began to fade, feeling increasingly like a distant dream, then an imaginary sensation. A nagging feeling persisted that something was amiss, something she couldn't quite grasp.

She was slowly losing memories of someone she loved, someone deeply important whom she felt she should remember, or recover a memory of, in this world. Emily was unable to pinpoint who this vital person was.

Gradually, her accounts of the other world became vague, and even her parents' memories of her telling them about it began to blur. They slowly reverted to being a family as if Emily had never left.

Emily continued with her life, and eventually, her parents successfully enrolled her in school. Old friends and acquaintances who knew Emily slowly lost their vivid memories of her passing; it was as if she had always been there throughout their lives.

Emily's parents even forged documents, portraying her as a twin sister who had been handed to their grandparents when young, allowing Emily to seamlessly reintegrate and make new friends at her new school.

Her old friends, who had initially believed the "twin sister" story, gradually lost their memories of the entire elaborate setup. Emily blended back into her old life as if nothing had ever happened.

Despite all this, Emily still found herself pondering at night, gazing at the moon. A haunting question echoed in her mind: Who was this person she was supposed to remember?

Emily's past life is being overwritten, and her memories of Adam are slowly vanishing. This is a significant development that isolates her further from her life with Adam.
