Chapter 6 - Magic Training Begins!

(Rokvel's POV)

When I entered my hause again, the scenery was much more family friendly.

My mother is currentyly sewing something on knitting needles and my father sharpens the kitchen knifes.

I just go inside and sit at the pillows.

- Hey dad, how is the village chief like?

- His name is Rokkus, I think you should know this. Hm, well, he is the most respected person in this village, so while turning to him use Mr. or elder. He is a kind hearted men, I don't think you have to stress about meeting him. I will go with you, so you are ok.

- If you say so.

We chat with eachother for a while and then I go to sleep.

When I get up we eat the breakfast and I go to the chief village hause with my father.

The hause was a bit bigger than ours. When my father knocked to the door, an old man looking like he is in his sixties opened the door.

- Ah, Roxen, and you are probably Rokvel, welcome. Please come inside.

He said with an easy tone and polite smile. He really makes an impression of the kind, old man.

As we entered his hause, the diffrance in furnishing is massive.

Inside the hause are many bookshelfs, desk, comfortable bed, table with 5 chairs and even fireplace is looking more expensive than ours. I can imagine this is all to emphasize his status in the village, but the goleden candlestick is just an extravagance.

- Have a sit.

He said and we take a place at the table.

- I heard that you are a smart boy, Rokvel. Already can read and write before the age of 5 is very impressive feat. Can you do me a favour and read a short tekst?

- Um, yes, if it's in Demon God tongue.

- Ofcourse, here.

He said and gave me a sheet of paper on witch were writen random sentence.

- Ekhem, "Today we have a beatifull weather, don't you think we shoud go the town shoping?"

I read the whole sentence in fluid Demon God tongue.

- Very good, Rokvel, you really are a clever child. But I've heard you also used magic, is that true.

- Yes, but I can't do it anymore. I forgot the incantation.

- Hm, what a pity. I thought I will see our genius in action, but I guess we can't do anything about it. But if you need anything to develop your skills, don't hesitate to ask me. It's one of my duties to care about the next generations.

It's just like Hitogami said. He want's to do me a favor with hope it will somehow be beneficial to him.

- Actually I have a little selifish request.

My father gave me a stern look. I know it's a bit rude, but there are things important and more inportant

- Ask anything you like and I will check if it's in my power to make it happen.

- Well, I really like to read and I have already readed all the books we have. Can I borrow one of your books Mr. Rokkus?

- Only that? Well, ofcourse, I don't mind it. You can even get one to yourself. But be careful to not damage it.

- I will be Mr. Rokkus!

- You can choose any from bookshelfs.

- Thank you, Mr.Rokkus.

- No problem, young Rokvel. I will talk with your father a bit, don't rush your choice.

I get up from table and go to the bookshelfs.

There is many books here. A lot of them is written in other tongues so I don't know what they are about. I'm looking for "Incredible Force of Nature" I'm curious is there really a book like that.

I have already looked through half ot the bookshelf and I didn't find the book with such title.

When I was checking the lowest shelf I saw the small book leaned in the corner of the shelf. You would have to lie down to notice it, but not if you are not even a meter tall.

The book is really dusty, nobody has read it in a while I suppose.

I grabbed the book and read the title, "Incredible Force of Nature".

That's it!

I opened the book and read the first page.

On the first page are notes of some guy describing flowers, animals and things like that. But when you read through this, the topic of the book changes.

It's really a magic book! Later in the half of the book are informations about the magic arts!

This guy saids he is a saint level fire magican and advanced in the rest of the elemental magic.

I can see that every spell has written icantation and the effect.

I will read more details in home.

I walked up to my talking father and Rokkus.

- I chose this one.

I said and show them the cover.

- Oh, sorry for the state of this book. I didn't knew I had her. Where did you find this one?

- On the lowest shelf.

- Ah, I rarely reach out for them. You can keep that one. If it's at this state, I will not miss her.

- Thank you again, Mr. Rokkus.

- You welcome kid.

- Then I think it's time for us to go. We really appreciate the gift, Elder Rokkus.

My father said while he stands up.

-It's my pleasure really.

Then he walked us to the door and we said our goodbye.

- Rokvel, you know this is rude to ask for a gift in your first meeting?

- I'm sorry dad.

- You've got lucky that Mr. Rokkus wasn't interested in this book or else I woud refuse to take it home. What's even this book about?

- It's about animals and plants.

- Hm, we didn't have a book about this in home. Good choice.

- Can I go to read outside and go home little later?

- Yeah, you should spend more time outside you know?

He said and smircked.

I know what you are thinking about old man. You really shoud pull back a little or I will end up with a new brother or sister in this rate, and I don't plan to become your personal baby sitter.

- Alright. I will comeback before it gets dark.

- Okay, see you home.

Then I runned to my new founded place to study magic and opened up the book on the first page about the magic arts.

I finally find out what the so called mana about Hitogami said is.

The book says that "Mana is the natural energy source for employing and invocation of magic."

It seems that every living being in the six-faced world posses a certain amount of mana - mana pool.

I first time meet the term six-faced world. It's the name of our whole world.

It also says that mana or magical power reserve of a person is generally believed to be inherited and the amount one has is determined at birth.

In the other words, it denies what Hitogami says. He belives that daily exhaustion and refilling your mana pool is making it grow.

I don't have any other choice but to check that myself over time.

The next thing is a method to cast a spell.

There are two main ways to cast a spell. Through an incantation or magic circle.

The first method is the most common one, and I can't describle the second one, because it wasn't studied well enough by the author of the book.

The magic is divided on two types.

Attack magic is:

Water magic,

Fire magic,

Wind magic,

and Earth magic,

There's also Healing magic, witch divides on:

Healing magic,

Detoxification magic,

Divine strike magic,

and Protection Magic.

There's also a summoning magic, but it also requires a magic circle to cast.

Magic mastery is ranked in this ranks from lowest to highest:

Beginner/Elementary,

Intermediate,

Advanced,

Saintly/Holy,

Kingly,

Imperial/Emperor,

and finally Divine or Godly rank.

Unfortunetly, the mage only reached Saint level in one category in attack magic and advanced in every other attack magic.

As for healing magic, he reached intermediate healing and detox. magic. He didn't even achive beginner rank in divine strike and protection magic.

It seems Healing magic is a lot harder art.

I think I will start with Water Magic to train my mana manipulation...
