Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Announcement

(The lights dim suddenly. Pale blue lights flash. A mysterious melody hums from the crystalline walls of the dome.)

A projection screen at the front displays the following words:

Official Announcement – Future Mind Technology Conference

Location: Main hall of the "Nova Aurora" dome, floating in upper Earth orbit.

Attendance: Over 30,000 people—scientists, engineers, journalists, and world leaders, alongside surveillance robots and AI translators.

Event: The official unveiling of the Neural CloudLink technology.

Ron was already familiar with this technology.

A fusion of neuroscience and cloud computing, Neural CloudLink connects human brains to a vast neural network hosted on cloud servers.

It's like wiring the human nervous system into the internet—only deeper: involving thoughts, emotions, and memories.

Nanotech chips or fine neural interfaces are implanted in specific regions of the brain, often the cortex or brainstem.

These chips convert electrical brain signals into digital data.

The neural signals are transmitted to massive cloud centers via ultra-high-speed 9G connections.

The brain no longer functions alone. It becomes part of a shared neural network including:

Other human minds.

A massive archive of emotions and knowledge.

This data is processed in real time:

Enhancing cognitive abilities (memory, focus, creativity).

Engaging in direct thought-conversations with AI.

Instantly sharing skills and experiences (like The Matrix).

The CloudLink also sends signals back to the brain:

To modify behavior or emotional state (like neural antidepressants).

To simulate feelings or memories.

To trigger physical responses like movement or reflexes.

Applications:

Medicine: Brain disorder treatment, prosthetic control, memory enhancement.

Military: Silent communication, automated tactical decisions, brain-linked squads.

Education: Uploading skills directly into the mind, like learning a language in seconds.

Security: Detecting aggressive intentions before crimes occur.

Social Control: Monitoring thoughts, programming emotional responses, guiding group behavior.

Of course, it's not that simple.

This conference is more of a spectacle to attract investment from powerful families—because this project carries dangers the world may never accept:

Loss of mental privacy: Humans no longer own their thoughts.

Mass control: Whoever controls the cloud, controls the minds.

Neural inequality: Those with "higher access" become smarter or more powerful.

Dehumanization: Are you still human if your mind is no longer yours?

Think about it:

If you could delete your depression or anxiety, and communicate purely with thoughts—

Would you still be human?

As Ron weighed the pros and cons, the presentation continued.

The host spoke (his calm voice growing stronger):

"Ladies and gentlemen... the time has come.

For centuries, humanity dreamed of minds speaking to each other, of thoughts shared without words—of dissolving the boundary between self and other.

Today... that dream is real."

(The central stage opens slowly. A woman in a sleek metallic suit steps forward—Professor Jessica Korr, lead of the Neural CloudLink project.)

Liana (clear voice, addressing the crowd):

"We've spent twenty years building this moment.

What we unveil today won't just change the world—it will change what it means to be human.

I present to you, for the first time in human history, the Neural CloudLink.

The first cloud-based neural interface capable of directly linking thoughts, memories, and language between human minds... with no devices.

No screens. No phones. Just you—and your mind.

Starting today, we can carry knowledge like we carry memories.

We can learn, connect, and create—at the speed of light."

(A massive screen lights up behind her, showing a live demonstration. A young man closes his eyes on one side. Across the stage, a girl suddenly smiles.)

Host:

"Did you hear what he said?"

The girl (in wonder):

"He didn't say anything.

But he... thought it. And I knew exactly what he meant."

(Thunderous applause. Some rise to their feet. Others shout in disbelief.)

Jessica (looking at the audience):

"But we do not offer miracles without cost.

Ethical dilemmas, mental security, and privacy—these are challenges we will face together.

We stand at the dawn of a new age—one we can rise with... or burn in."

(She pauses. A moment of silence. Then finishes with one final line.)

"Welcome to the post-thought era."

(The hall floods with light. Applause roars.)
