"Madam please don't leave" Rosalia pleaded with Eva who kept on dragging her luggage along the frontier of the mansion.She had woken up in her bed few hours ago tended to by Rosalia.Their family doctor did not come to check on her.By order of Hendrixx maybe.The tears of her heart drowned out Rosalia's pleas.She was so going to miss the old woman.She has been the only person to geniuely care about her apart from Old Mrs Vaughn.
A dazzling black Mercedes Benz drove smoothly into the compound and parked in front of her, "Speak of the devil" Eva muttered as Talia came down from the car and she wasn't alone, right beside her was her mother in law. "Good evening mother" Eva greeted, she is getting a divorce from Hendrixx but she still needed to respect her soon to be ex-husband's mother until then.But why were they together? Has she given her support to Talia? She wasn't liked by Joan,that she knew pretty well as the woman never failed to show her dislike towards her(Eva) but she wouldn't be as petty and unreasonable as to support the relationship between Hendrixx and Talia would she?.
Joan eyed Eva from head to toe taking in the dreadful sight of her simple clothes and shabby luggage.Eva cleared her throat and spoke " Mother,I have decided to divorce Hendrixx". Joan hummed in response feeling happy about it but did not express it.Now there would be no trouble In replacing the unsuitable, thought Joan.
"Don't be greedy into demanding half of his wealth as alimony.You didn't add any value to his life anyway!"
By that,Joan meant that she didn't give Hendrixx a child.When infact it was her son who refused to touch her.Eva found it wierd that he never made any intimate approach to her.At first she had thought he had problems with his..... Untill she realized that he was fucking other women and was too disgusted by her.Eva's hand clenched tightly around the luggage handle until her knuckles turned white. "Do not worry ma'am.I will only take a compensation deserving for the time I spent with him.Please do not be upset if I were to end up demanding more than half"
"What are you saying you worthless girl?!" Joan barked puzzled by Eva's boldness,the girl didn't dare talk back to her before,that was the only reason why she tolerated her for this wrong because Eva respected her.she perhaps would have left things the way they were if she had gotten a grandchild from her.
"You should control that mouth of yours around elders,Eva" Talia spoke
"And you should control that pussy of yours lest it becomes infected" Eva then looked straight at Joan and added "You wouldn't want to precious son to die of venereal disease would you"
Joan raised her hand and slapped Eva hard across the face.But instead of shutting up,Eva continued "Your hit isn't as hard as it used to be.I guess your bones are getting old underneath that young fake skin"
"You!!" Joan was close to exploding with anger.She raised her hand wanting to slap some sense Into her former daughter in law.Her eyes widened as hand was held mid air by Eva "You bitch! How dare you?"
"Don't be upset Mother-in-law I just don't want your bones to get broken" Eva let go of Joan's wrist which reddened as a result of her hold on it.
"Smack!" A loud slap was heard, Talia's head spinned."smack!!" Another one landed before she could recover from the first slap.Joan was scared to interfere for a moment.'what has gotten in her all of a sudden?' she mused surprised by Eva's behavior.Talia lost her footing and balance.Wearing super high heels didn't help with balance as she fell down unto the floor her ankle hurting as a sign that it must have sprained.
"Have you gone crazy?" Talia screamed out. Eva shrugged, folding her arms. "What? You deserve more than that much for taking everything that I have ever wanted" She bent down wanting to make sure the next words she was about to say got home to Talia's brain.
"Protect them, everything you've stolen from me because I will be coming for them one by one" Eva said and walked back to where her luggage was, giving Rosalia a tight goodbye hug and whispered to her "You now see why I won't stay"
Take good care of yourself my dear.And be safe" Rosalia whispered back.
"I will Rosalia.I will" They broke apart from the hug.Eva walked out the mansion gates with a strong feeling of confidence.The first ever in her twenty three years of existence.She didn't know where it came from but it felt so good, standing up for herself for once.The wind blowing across her face and messing up her hair gave her a sense of freedom.Being Hendrixx's Vaughn's wife had kept her caged but now she has broken free from it.In those years of being married she had no other thoughts except getting her husband to love her.Looking back at that now,Eva realized that she had been nothing but a fool.
