Currently, the cohort were in the medical room, waiting for Nephis to wake up. No one spoke, as they were all busy with their own thoughts. Even the 'ferocious' Effie seemed to be in deep thought — unlike her usual self, unable to think of any appropriate jokes for Doofus considering their current situation.
Well, Sunny didn't really care about everyone else. He was in a dilemma.
'Insane. She is insane. We see each other after two years and the first thing she does...SHE touched my cheeks.'
Sunny was quite flustered after that encounter. After all, even if he denied it himself, he loved her. Feeling conflicted once again. But he understood... he understood how brutal her journey must have been — spending two years without human touch or interaction.
But…
Yes, he was excited to see Neph, even though it seemed like he was pushing away his feelings for her. Love is a bastard — something no human has control over. Maybe even gods couldn't explain love properly. After all, there was no proper definition of it. 'Love is love.'
But that didn't bother Sunny for the past two years, as he kept on doing things to keep himself distracted from thinking about Neph or those 'feelings'.
'Ah, goddamnit. For spell's sake, this wasn't supposed to happen.'
The treacherous Lost from Light was stumped. He didn't know what to do for once! Shock, excitement, relief, fear, and peace... his heart felt finally at peace knowing that she was with him now. But it also held a tang of fear, as she was closer than ever to him.
What would she do with their special bond?
But all those emotions aside, the one thing he was sure of was that he missed her.
Yes, after all that time spent together — and even as they spent two years apart — she was still the only person Sunny trusted the most, the only person he found peace with.
'Damnation, when will she wake up?'
Letting out a quiet sigh...
Neph's eyes fluttered slowly as she was waking up. All four of them froze, watching her. She slowly batted her eyelids and looked at everyone… although her eyes lingered on Sunny for a bit longer, showing a pale smile to him.
"Hello everyone. It's nice to finally meet you guys again."
Cassie was about to embrace her in a hug when—
'Huh?'
The three of them collectively thought, as Sunny rushed forward and hugged her.
No one expected this. Even the stoic Nephis was surprised. Quickly composing herself, she embraced Sunny tightly.
They both knew they held some sort of feelings for each other that they didn't recognize. But more than that — they needed each other.
Neph ran her hand through his hair, seemingly trying to comfort him...
"I missed you."
"I missed you too, Sunny."
Sunny quietly sobbed in her embrace as he let out all the emotions that he had buried deep within him. He didn't care if Effie got more material to joke about. He didn't care if Kai and Cassie were watching either... well, Cassie couldn't see...
Suddenly realising what he did, he backed off and cleared his throat, seemingly acting as if nothing had happened.
"So, what were you whispering right now, Doofus?" Effie gleamed.
"Shut up."
"I didn't take sunny for the expressive type."
'oh god,they aren't gonna leave me alone'
Sunny did something which startled everyone.
