"You should be thankful that the young master favors you a lot! If not, he wouldn't defy his own father and request to bring food for you!" the maid shouted, and I frowned at her in annoyance.
Who would be grateful for his action? I scorned as I stared at the muddied food with disgust. Even pigs wouldn't want to eat this kind of food.
Good thing that Faerielle was asleep and she wouldn't experience this type of treatment. My poor Faerielle, your so-called family is treating you like this, but why do you keep longing for them?
"You! You demon! You dared to glare at me?!" the maid screamed and threw the muddied food into my face.
How dare this bitch—! Does she wish for her death?!
I wipe off the stinky food on my face, but my eyes remain focused on her. Then I grabbed the plate and threw them on her face.
Did she think that I'm Faerielle the pushover? Tsk. And who is she to bully us? She's nothing but a mere maid.
"This tiny bitch!" a slap resounded in the room, and I never showed any emotion. Then she gripped my face, trying to intimidate me. However, instead of backing off, I smirked and spit on her bleeding face.
Enraged, she pushed me and slapped me more. When she heard footsteps that were heading in this direction, she left the room unceremoniously.
"Hah!" I lay on the cold floor. Then laughter echoed in my room as I imagined the face of that maid. Seeing her enraged expression just brightens my day.
Oh, if only Faerielle wasn't soft and gullible, then I'd parade through this mansion while torturing everyone who dared to look down on her.
Good thing she wasn't conscious today. If she is, then she would've resisted my control and been bullied again.
To hide what happened today, I healed myself and cleaned the room. In this mansion, this room is my territory. Whoever tried to undermine me in my territory will face nothing but my wrath.
A huge grin formed on my face. Looks like I'll have another target to unleash my frustrations.
While I was planning what I should do to make my target pay, the door blasted open and men wearing all-white clothing entered. Behind them were the shocked and confused faces of my so-called father and his family, along with the maids.
But why are they here? And with this, uh... priests?
Don't tell me... They learned about our ability? But how? I always ensured that this ability remained secret, so why did these priests storm into this mansion?
Then, a man whose aura screams with respect stepped out of the crowd. Based on the other priests actions, I can tell that this man has a higher position than others.
Is he the Pope?
"Silver hair, golden eyes..." he muttered with tears streaming from his eyes. "Greetings, Saintess..." he greeted and bowed his head. The priests who accompanied him also did the same.
But saintess? What the hell is he talking about? Is it because I have a healing ability? So what? Amongst billions of people, I'm sure that there are other people who could use healing ability, too. So why offer such a title to me and Faerielle?
"I think you're mistaken. I'm not a saint," I denied while staring directly at his eyes.
Then, our so-called father intervened. "Lower your gaze! How dare you meet His Eminence's gaze?" then he turned to the priests. "Forgive me, your Eminence, for I failed to educate this little demoness." He forced me to bow my head.
"But what do you mean by Saintess, your Eminence? There's no way that this rude child would be a saint. She is a troublemaker who keeps causing problems in my manor," he continued, unaware of the face that knights are wearing.
Though, I'm curious why these knights were glaring at this good-for-nothing man in front of me. Did they really see me as a saint?
"The rudeness! How dare you interfere with the Cardinal and insult the Saintess!" one of the knights reprimanded him, earning countless murmurs from the maids.
This foolish guy was doomed. Embarrassed, he stated. "How is that possible? If there's anyone deserving to become a saint, then it would be my innocent daughter Irene. Not this orphan!" he gaze over Irene affectionately and shot me a glare.
"I think you're misunderstanding something, Milord. The goddess wouldn't lie to her followers. She commanded these loyal lambs to find the silver-haired and golden-eyed saintess within your manor. But no one, except for this young lady, possesses that description. Your innocent child doesn't fit the condition in the first place," the Cardinal intervened with a calm voice.
"B-but... But..." that damnable man refuted, but everyone ignored him as the Cardinal kneeled in front of me and hugged me.
"Forgive us for arriving late, Saintess. From now on, you'll be free from this hellhole and live a happy life that you deserve," he said, filled with sincerity.
I felt something in my heart. Uh... Am I touched? Or is it Faerielle? Did she wake up?
But I received no response. So why am I feeling something like this? Did I become weird or something?
While I was confused by what I felt, the knights restrained that stupid guy. Are they going to detain him? Well, he deserves that.
Then I shifted my gaze to his family. The wife was giving me a strange look. While his children were annoyed to the core, they didn't dare to speak out of fear of these people. The children that Faerielle regarded as older siblings and the ones who frequently bullied her through their maids.
When I tilted my head, I saw the maids eyeing me with fear and regret. But some are still confused and flabbergasted.
"Let's go, Saintess." The Cardinal extended his hands, and I unconsciously grabbed them.
The very same hands that I never thought would bring ruin not only to myself but also to the important people around me.
