Chapter 29 - Lysara's Laboratory

The next morning, we eat breakfast first thing, and then head to Lysara's laboratory. Lysara points to the table to the side with miscellaneous magic stones. Some are even on the ground by the table, and generally all over the place. Lysara says while pointing, "That mess is my magic stone inventory I use for research purposes." She then points to a blackboard with a chalk magic circle, notes, and some mathematical equations. There is a chair facing the board, and a bookstand with an open book on it right beside it. Next to said stand are several stacks of books within arm's reach of the chair. Lysara says while motioning to the chair, "That is my thinking chair. That board has the formula I thought I perfected. I wanted it on the board so I could see it while thinking. There are other miscellaneous things all related to the teleportation spell here as well. All, so I could get a big picture perspective of my theory. If I don't physically see it, I might forget it exists. If that makes sense. Now, this -"

She pauses and turns, and points to a huge bookcase that has a litany of books with a few of those rolling ladders to get books higher up on the shelves. They weren't all quite organized, though, and it was quite disheveled like the rest of the laboratory, with stones strewn about on shelves as well. Lysara continues talking, "This is my bookcase that has all of the research material I used to mold my teleportation theory over the years." She then points to the middle of the floor, which has a decent-sized magic circle with an array of light and dark magic stones that seem to be placed with mathematical precision. It was quite stunning, and very beautiful. Lysara says, "This is the magic circle that sent me to Perdita." She looks at it, and I can tell her attention is captured by it, and she is going to be on this a while. I ask her before she can get too carried away with it, "While you work, do you mind if I tidy up your laboratory for you?"

Lysara waves at me in dismissal while not looking away from her magic circle, "Do what you desire, my love. Just don't throw anything away." I replied while picking up some of the magic stones, "I would never just throw anything of yours away without asking, don't you worry. I'll shut up now so you can focus." Lysara focuses on her magic circle from both afar and up close, as if changing the distance will spark inspiration. I continue tidying up. Since I don't know anything about any of these magic stones, I am just organizing them by color for now. There are a LOT of magic stones here. I found several bins in the corner of the room that will work perfectly to segregate these stones. I start by segregating all of the red stones. They particularly caught my eye, and I just really like red. Blood is red. The hardest part of these stones was the sheer amount in the mountain on the table. Once I couldn't see any more red (though there was obviously more in the mountain), I started collecting blue stones in a separate bin, as I could see a lot of them. I do this for all the colors, then the mountain of stones doesn't seem so bad. I am progressively filling up all the color bins with magic stones.

It took me a few hours to organize the magic stones, and now the table they were on is very tidy with a lot of space and a rainbow assortment of stones lined up in an aesthetically pleasing fashion. I even got the stones I noticed on the shelves earlier organized. I look over to Lysara, who is still looking at the magic circle, thinking complicated thoughts. I go to her thinking chair, and grab one of the stacks of books, and take it to the bookcase. I go back and forth until all of the stacks by the chair are now at the ginormous bookcase. I examine it and see that the little bit of the shelf that is not disheveled is organized alphabetically. I go ahead and take all the books off the shelves and start organizing them on the floor by letter.

I get a small chunk of them organized by the letter when my stomach interrupts me. I look out the window, and it is now dark outside. I just realized we worked all day with no breaks or meals. I go up to Lysara and wrap myself behind her, "I know you are thinking very complicated thoughts in that brain of yours, but it is now dark outside and you haven't eaten anything since breakfast. Let's get something to eat and get some rest. We can return tomorrow to go back to work. I still have a lot I need to do as well." Lysara stops staring at her magic circle and looks up, and sees her magic stone table. She walks over to it and examines my handiwork and says with excitement, "Wow, babe! Did you do all of this? You did an amazing job. Though a lot of these stones are mixed-matched by type, I do like the sorting by color. It is very pleasing to look at. It will definitely be easier to find things now, that's for sure."

She looks at the bookcase, which is empty at the moment while wearing a slightly confused expression, "What are your plans for the bookcase?" I replied while pointing to the books on the floor, "I noticed that the books that weren't disheveled were alphabetized, so using your preferred organization method, I will be reorganizing it all alphabetized. To do this, though, I had to take everything off the shelves." Lysara says, "I see. Ok, let us get some food and go to bed so we can do the same thing tomorrow." She grabs my arm affectionately and we walk back to her room.

It has been a week since we have been going to her laboratory every day. I finally finished organizing her bookcase, and it looks great. I look at Lysara, who is still engrossed in her magic circle. Her ponytail is very messy, and her hair is oily from not bathing the entire week. I have been barely able to drag her to bed, much less get her to take a bath this week. She has just been so obsessed with her circle. She hasn't even fed off of me all week either. I go up to her, "Boo, how about you take a break and we bath you? You haven't even looked at your reflection in a mirror all week, have you?" Lysara turns to me, all excited, and kisses me, "THAT'S IT! I just need to inverse these two values! I completely forgot that light refracts and REFLECTS." She says as she tweaks her magic circle and changes the formula slightly on the board. She starts laughing and comes up to me and kisses me again, "Thank you, Ari. You helped me solve this." I replied, "I don't understand how, but I am very happy for you. Now that you've had your breakthrough, let's get you bathed and feed you properly. You haven't fed off of me all week, and you must be hungry." She kisses me again, pulling in a phantom's kiss, and I moan in pleasure. She giggles, and we go to her personal bathroom that is attached to her room.

After we take care of all of Lysara's needs, we return to the laboratory so she can test out her work. Lysara says, "If this test works, I will be teleported outside of my laboratory building." She goes inside the magic circle and activates it with her mana, and she disappears. How did she activate it before when she couldn't use magic? I am curious. I will have to ask her. I feel her presence, so I start running to her since I know she is going to be excited. She jumped into my arms and squealed in happiness, "I DID IT! I DID IT! I DID IT!" and continued to squeal in excitement. She kisses me and jumps up and down and continues, "Let me adjust the circle for coordinates for Entre. That way we can visit our precious Thultu." I smile, "That sounds amazing, boo." Lysara says, "We can head out tomorrow morning so we can have the full day to spend there. I want to take plenty of supplies so I can make a return magic circle there. I am just going to stock up on these supplies so I don't ever have to worry about running out in case we may need more teleports down the line." She squeals again in excitement, "I still can't believe I fucking did it!" Lysara runs back inside the laboratory and tweaks her magic circle.

I go to call Dysis in the same remote area I have been using all week to save people from freaking out. When she gets there, she comes down and I start petting her, "How are you doing today, Dysis?" Dysis replies, "Always better when I see you, my friend." I replied while nuzzling my face into her fur, "Awww, you little sweet talker you. I am going to miss you on our little trip. We will be teleporting to Entre for a bit to visit Thultu since Lysara finally perfected her teleport spell. If we aren't back in a week, you can come follow us, but that is the worst case scenario." Dysis coos, "Very well. I will miss our little chats here. Are you hungry?" I replied, drooling a bit at the idea of blood, "Yes." Dysis then says, "Go ahead and have your fill of my blood." I bite into her and drink until I am fully satiated, and I heal her, "Thank you, Dysis. I will be fitting you with rider gear when we get back, so you won't have to stay out of sight as much. We have been pretty distracted here recently. I apologize." Dysis replies with a soothing coo, "We have forever to worry about that. A little solitude never hurts anyone. I will miss you, though, Ari." She says as she brings her head down to hug me. I replied, hugging her back, "I will miss you too. Try not to have too much fun while I am gone since I am not here to have your back, okay?" Dysis replied with a slightly amused tone, "Very well, Ari. Please be safe." She then licks me, and I giggle because it tickles.

The next morning, we eat our breakfast, and Sky joins us since his weight won't be too much for the spell. We get to the laboratory, and I ask before she uses her mana, "So, how did you activate it before you unlocked your magic?" Lysara replied, "I used my blood as a catalyst. Mana is the only thing needed to activate a magic circle, and mana flows throughout the entire body and is therefore also in blood. Skilled water magic users can even use blood to make weapons using the mana and water embedded in the blood." I replied, "Ahhhh. That is very interesting. I have never heard of someone activating a circle with blood before." Lysara said while looking at the many scars on her hands, "Well, I had to improvise at the time. I don't need to cut myself anymore." I respond while touching the scars on her hands, "So that is where these came from?" Lysara nods, "Yeah. This is where I would cut myself for magical catalysts. Are you guys ready to go to Entre?" Sky is perched on my shoulder while I hold Lysara's hand, and she pushes her mana into the circle, and we teleport.
