Chapter 17 - Chapter 17

The guards escorted Lin through the first arteries of Rhendell. It was a bustling city, larger than he had imagined. The buildings were made of pale stone, topped with blue slate roofs, and the people swarmed like busy ants.

They crossed a central square flanked by statues of ancient heroes, then turned toward a massive building bearing a crest: a key crossed with a sword. The Guild of Adventurers and Special Classes.

"This is it. We'll drop you off at the counter—they'll take over from here."

Lin nodded his thanks and stepped inside.

The interior was spacious.Adventurers of all levels waited, chatted, exchanged goods. At the back, a row of counters was staffed by workers in gray and green uniforms.

Lin walked up to one of them.

"Registration?" asked the young woman without looking up.

"Kerow Lin. Dungeon Maker."

She froze, then looked up sharply.

"…Dungeon Maker? Are you serious?"

He nodded.

A short silence. Then she pressed a green rune on the desk.Light flared—and a few seconds later, a middle-aged man in an inspector's robe appeared beside her.

"Follow me, Mister Lin. Dungeon Makers don't register here. Yours is a special case."

He was led into a private room.

On a dark wooden table, several crystals were arranged in a circle. The man set a grimoire in front of him.

"By royal decree, every active Dungeon Maker must be registered to monitor the impact of their creations. Your information will remain confidential—unless your dungeon becomes a public threat."

"Understood."

"Class confirmed?"

"Yes."

"Active dungeon?"

"Yes."

"Estimated rank?"

"B."

The scribe flinched slightly and jotted it down quickly.

"Location?"

Lin smiled.

"I'd prefer not to disclose that for now."

"…You're aware that's grounds for investigation, correct?"

"I'm under no official contract. I've acted within the rights of a free Dungeon Maker—no pacts, no territorial bindings."

The man stared at him for a long moment, then sighed.

"Very well. An investigator will verify compliance. But for now, you're officially registered."

He handed Lin an oval medallion engraved with the Guild's symbol.A faint golden glow shimmered around it.

"This confirms your status. Show it if questioned. And… be careful. An active Dungeon Maker draws attention fast."

"I don't doubt it."

Lin finally stepped back into daylight. The sun lit his face. The city was there, waiting.

And this time,he could truly explore it.
