Alpha Kaelith Drevor
"Fill me in," Kaelith ordered, his voice sharp, deadly calm.
"All cleared, Alpha. We have fifteen survivors, and the Alpha's gone AWOL."
The warrior's voice didn't waver, but Kaelith halted mid-step, his boots grinding against the stone floor.
"AWOL?" His tone dropped to a dangerous growl as he slowly turned his head. "And you called that all cleared?"
Ben, the warrior walking behind him visibly gulped, taking a few steps backwards. "We searched everywhere. He must have slipped out through one of the underground tunnels before we secured the borders—"
Kaelith's eyes narrowed, silver irises glowing faintly. "I gave a direct order. No survivors."
His voice echoed down the dim hallway, deathly quiet and loaded with venom. The very air seemed to shift with the pressure of his rage.
Ben lowered his head. "I take full responsibility, Alpha."
Kaelith didn't respond. He continued down the spiraling stairs that led to the dungeons beneath the old ruins. Each step he took was heavy with tension, his presence suffocating. The torches lining the stone walls flickered and hissed, casting long shadows that danced with each calculated movement of the Alpha.
His wolf growled restlessly beneath the surface—an unhinged, cursed creature that rarely slept. But Kaelith had mastered the art of control… barely. Still that doesn't stop the beast from being restless as it was always fighting to gain control.
They reached the bottom level. The air was damp and reeked of blood, sweat, and despair. The metallic clink of keys jingled from Ben's belt as he led the Alpha past the cells.
"They've all been separated," Ben said as they walked past the first few cells. "Kept in different blocks. No one's talking, at least one of them should know about their Alpha hideout but they are not talking."
Kaelith's gaze swept over the captives in each cell with disdain carved deep into his expression. Pathetic. Just like their Alpha.
His wolf clawed inside him as they reached the last cell.
There were two figures slumped against the wall—one of them had her knees drawn to her chest, head resting there, the other lay motionless beside her. Both unaware of the presence that now loomed just beyond the rusted bars.
Kaelith's lip curled wickedly
"Open it," he ordered coldly.
Ben hesitated. "Alpha—"
"Now."
With a reluctant nod, Ben jammed the key into the lock and twisted. The gate creaked open.
Kaelith stepped the small cell, his aura almost filling it.
The girl stirred.
Slowly, her head lifted. Disoriented at first, her eyes squinted against the low light—then widened.
And so did his.
Forest green.
Bright, untamed, startling against the dirt and bruises that marred her face.
The breath in Kaelith's chest caught. Just for a second and his crazy wolf went utterly silent.
For the first time ever.
Kaelith stared at her in a daze, his mind unclear of what he came to the cell to do.
Then, like a snapped thread, the daze shattered.
His wolf surged with a hunger he'd never known, not violent… not quite. It was obsessional. Territorial... something he didn't quite understand.
But Kaelith gritted his teeth, burying it down.
Not now.
His gaze hardened once more, lips twisting with disdain as he turned away from her captivating eyes, masking whatever crack she had just caused in his steel resolve.
"Drag them out," he snapped, his voice back to its cold, commanding edge.
Ben hesitated again. "Alpha, she—"
"Did I stutter?" Kaelith's voice whipped like a blade.
Ben moved quickly, stepping inside. The rusted door groaned wider, and the sound alone jolted the girl with the green eyes from whatever daze she also semmed to be in. Her head whipped to the side, panic setting in.
"No—don't touch her!" she cried, scrambling in front of the unconscious girl beside her.
Ben reached for her arm. She slapped his hand away.
"I said don't touch her!" Her voice cracked with desperation. Her small frame shook as she placed herself protectively between her.
The other girl, dazed and groaning, began to stir behind her. "Wha—is…"
The green-eyed girl turned her head briefly, whispering, "Dont strain yourself, I'll handle it"
Kaelith's brow twitched.
She was trembling, visibly scared—but she shielded the other girl and not herself like her own life is not important. He hates acts like that...he despise it.
But his wolf… whined.
Whined?
Kaelith stepped forward, eyes boring into her. "You must have no idea who you're defying."
" It doesn't matter does it? Since we're going to die anyway".
Ben glanced back, uncertain. "Alpha…?"
Kaelith stared at her for a long moment. Then he laughed.
It was soft. Dark. Almost amused—but nothing about it was kind.
"She's barely breathing," he said, gesturing to the other girl, "and you think you can protect her?"
The girl didn't respond. She simply held her ground, arms stretched out.
Kaelith's face went blank again. "Fine."
He grabbed her by the front of her tattered shirt with one hand and yanked her to her feet effortlessly. She cried out, twisting in his grip, kicking and scratching as he dragged her toward the doorway.
"Stop! No! Please—!"
Ben rushed to the second girl, lifting her limp body with more care.
The green-eyed girl struggled against Kaelith with everything she had. "Let me go! Where are you taking us?! Let her go!"
Kaelith said nothing.
He didn't flinch when she hit his chest, didn't blink when her fingernails scratched across his neck.
He simply stared at her, face unreadable. Then leaned in close.
"You'll learn quickly," he murmured, voice a low promise against her ear. "What happens to those who defies me"
She froze.
And he growl in satisfaction
Then, with one swift motion, he tossed her over his shoulder like she weighed nothing, ignoring her gasps and fists pounding against his back.
Ben followed behind silently with the second girl in his arms, giving the green-eyed girl a quick glance filled with something close to pity.
They ascended the stairs—the flickering torchlight dancing against stone as they carried their prisoners deeper into the unknown.
Kaelith didn't speak again.
But the silence behind his footsteps throbbed with something dangerous.
And it all began the moment she looked at him with those untamed, forest green eyes.
