Chapter 4 - The Auction II

I tried to walk back to the cage, but I tripped and fell to the ground and started coughing. My friends ran up to me and brought me back to the cage. The other God Candidates got sold off in groups before it was just me and my friends left. It must have been around noon when it was finally our turn.

By this point I had recovered from the attack of the Auctioneer. "Why are you auctioning us?" The auctioneer just leered at me when I said that. "That is none of your concern, boy. Now, we will start the bidding on this final group of candidates." I looked at the blond man from before pull out a pouch.

"50 gold pieces." The rest of the bidders were astonished by the amount; meanwhile, I was surprised that he actually had that much money on his person. "Going once, going twice, sold to Count Demixen." He's a count? Wonderful. He walked up to the cage and formally greeted himself.

"My name is Count Cassio Demixen, but you may call me Cassio. Tell me your name, good sir." "Good sir feels like a stretch; I'm just a normal guy. But, as for my name, my name is Damon Asiren. Nice to meet you." Count Demixen looked at my friends and then back to me. "Are these your guards?"

I look at him puzzled. "These are my friends, and you'll treat them with the same respect you've given me." He glared at me, his gaze piercing through me and making me feel weak. "Actually, you will show me respect; I own you all now." I laughed at the comment.

"What happened to the respectful man I talked to a couple of hours ago?" He looked at me; there was no intent of good in his eyes. "Don't try talking to me like an equal; I am above you, even if you've cast one of the largest flares in recent history."

He was definitely stronger than me, so I had no hope of fighting him. My first thought was, how could I run away? If only I had more spells, and that damned supporting deity gave me a useless skill. Before I could finish that train of thought, the blue screen popped up in front of me again. [True Knowledge level 1 activated]

I had no idea what just happened, but before I could react, I saw 3 more pop-ups. [Obtained Haste level 1] [Obtained Speed Burst level 1] [Obtained Like the Wind level 1] I looked at their descriptions, and all were spells that increased my agility for an amount of time as long as I had mana.

The only problem is I don't know how much mana I have. It didn't matter, though. [Haste level 1 activated] [Speed Burst level 1 activated] [Like the Wind level 1 activated] I ran like there was no tomorrow, making it out of the auction area in less than a second.

I felt bad for my friends, but I couldn't let that man get me. I could feel that he was planning to do horrible things with his God Candidates. All I did was run. I ran until the sunset before stopping. I was amazed that my mana lasted that long.

I thought I had reached the edge of the kingdom after that much time. The system updated, and the first thing I did was check the [True Knowledge] skill, finding that it hadn't changed at all.

But there was one change that, when I saw it, I couldn't believe my eyes. [Mana: Immeasurable, 1% active] I was confused. How could my Mana be Immeasurable but I could only use 1% of it? I could barely hold myself up from how exhausted I am.

I knew that I had one mission right now, though, and that was to save my friends from the hands of Count Cassio Demixen. But after running that long, I collapsed from how tired I was and fell asleep.
