Lucky's POV
With a paparazzi tailing us, Zane's driving skills was tested, I mean, I do know he drive well, given the events of first night as a married couple, but now that we are losing someone, his car is technically driving in tight circles.
"Unlock my phone." He commanded me, while his eyes is focused on the road.
Leaving no reserve in obliging him, I picked up his phone. "Password?" I asked casually but Zane's eyes grew wide so I just hold it up for him, waiting for him to type it himself.
But he nudge my hand saying. "You don't need the password, its face unlock enabled, just hold it up for it to detect my face."
"Oh, sorry." I mumbled, trying not to think too much, his password is his privacy anyway.
Now the phone is unlocked, I saw a picture of him and a girl at the background, knowing it was Zea on it, I put his phone down and asked him. "What to do with it?" Casually tapping on the screen for it not to lock again.
"Go to the phone log, call the first number on it and told it that we need help to chase that paparazzi away." He said and once again, I obliged and did what he told me to.
Dialling, the person immediately picked up and with its scary voice, I almost jumped off from the pasenger seat.
"Adams, what is it you need now?" It asked.
"Uhm, hello. Sorry, this Lucky.. I was told by Mr.. uh.. Zane to call you and let you know that we need help to chase some paparazzi."
The man gasped when I spoke. "Oh.. is that so, where are you guys?" It asked back, making me look at Zane.
He then gestured me to put the on speaker so I did and held it for him. "Along Wilson and Summers street. The car chasing have the licensce plate of NYX3012."
"Copy that, keep moving. I'll be there." The man from the other line said then the call ended.
And without further instructions, I put his phone to the side and looked at the rear view mirror then to the back side to see if we're still being closely followed, but as I do so, Zane stopped me.
"Don't look back at them, you'll giving them a perfect angle to have your picture taken."
Nodding, I just sit back and the moment I do so, Zane's car came to a stop.
"Why did you stop? Didn't your friend told you to keep going?" I asked, obviously confused.
With a shrug, Zane looked back, saying. "Do you think I don't know I am doing?"
Thinking I have offended him or something, I shook my head. "Of course not, I just thought you're gonna do what your friend said so since you asked for his help."
With a groan, he brushed his hair up and looked at me. "It was the plan, but I didn't like the thought of him commanding me." He paused, unbuckling his seat belt. "You stay here and I'm gonna deal with that bastard."
Knowing I should do what he wants, I nod, but as he get off from the driver seat, I reached for his hand and said. "No funny business."
As if getting my point, he gently removed my hand and nod.
Watching him through the side view mirror, I saw him walk towards the car who's been vehemently following us ever since we left the hotel and as I was busy doing so, an unknown man gets in the driver seat, groaning.
"Argh! That mad man! Always making me do things for him!" Its voice hoarse and low, until it looked at me. "Still buckled up, princess?" It asked with a sudden grin.
"Princess?" I repeated with my brows raised.
"You! Aren't you his little wife now?" He asked with a smug look.
"And what do you care about that? I don't even know you!" I exclaimed and was about to unbuckle myself from my seat.
"Oho! feisty, aren't you? But if I were you, I won't I'm not a good driver as your husband but yeah. Hold on tight, let's get you home sweet home." It said with a terrifyingly amused tone before started the car and drove away.
Shocked, I looked him and asked. "Is that even a good idea to leave him there?"
Shrugging, he scoffed. "Don't worry about him, worry about yourself! I reckoned that you were just some event planner before getting married to him, but being with him, even just for pretend, will not be easy." He warned.
"W-what do you mean? Why do you know so much?" I hissed.
With another scoff, he waved his hand dismissively. "You don't have to know why I do, you'll know soon. But for now, I want you enjoy the ride. I don't want some noisy passenger like that Zea."
Hearing the threat on its voice, I slumped and sighed at the passenger seat, my eyes focus on the view outside.
"Belle, can you hear me?" I called in the back of my mind.
"Yes, host. Can I help you with something?" She asked.
"Yeah, could you tell me about this man?" I muttered.
"As you wish host." Belle paused. "Rusty Wellis, 35, a top tier informant, a friend of Mr. Adams and his right hand man who hates Miss Zea."
"Informant? Like some secret agent?" I inquired.
"Yes, he works under several government agencies and is exclusive to none. The only private jobs he cater is for Mr. Adams." Bella added.
"Yeah? And why is that? Just what did this man owe to Zane for him to be beckon like this?" I asked again, fully intrigued.
"That I don't know host. If you wish to unravel that the please ask him yourself." Bella said before going silent.
With another sigh, I hesitantly looked at Rusty.
"Come on, Princess. Don't look at me like that. If you want to say something just say it." He said.
"But you told me to keep quiet." I mumbled, pouting.
With loud chuckle, he glance at me for a bit. "I did say that, but because I didn't expected you to be someone obliging." He paused before adding. "You know what, I don't mind that he married someone with brains like you."
"What do you mean with brains? Are you saying Miss Zea don't have one?" I exclaimed, knowing how Zane would react to his words.
Crackling harder, he shook his head. "What I'm trying to say is that you have some sense and depth to talk to and that Zea? She's nothing but an tactful brat, saying things she doesn't even know about. She's just a two-faced lady who act like some tamed kitten with Adams."
Intrigued, I couldn't help but to ask more. "You seem to know him so well, could you tell me how you guys met and how is he a person?"
With a quick glance, I saw him with a genuine smile. "Curious cat aren't you?"
"Well, I can't deny that, I just want to know him a little better." I replied with a shrug.
"Hm.. Well, all I can say is that guy is a perfect example of tsundere, and it was heavily influenced by that Yandere lady, Zea." He said.
Hearing that, I nod, taking in some mental cues that will help me navigate this story better.
"But hey, before I forgot, let me warn you. Don't go falling hard for him. Adams' obssession for Zea is just too strong, I don't want you to end up miserable once it came back." Rusty added.
Nodding and processing things on my head, I sat there, completely in daze.
"Hey, Princess. You're home." He said, snapping his fingers on my face.
"Ah sorry, I didn't mean to go in a daze." I mumbled, shyly.
And with teasing laugh, he knowly leaned in and whispered. "Are you perhaps thinking that he might actually fall inlove with you?"
Blushing, I immediately pushed him away. "O-of course not! I know my place as his substitute wife!"
Putting his hands up in surrender, he smiled and get off the car to open the door for me. Once I'm out, he then reached for my hand and handed me a box of pills.
"I know how much of a hornball he is and it won't hurt to be careful. You wouldn't want some alive reminder of all this once it ended, don't you?" Rusty explained before he leading me into Zane's Penthouse.
Looking around, I can't help but to notice how a penthouse could this lavish, I mean even just few few things, it all just look so expensive and elegant that someone like me in my real world wouldn't dare to dream of having one.
Probably feeling my reservations, Rusty carefully reached for my shoulders and said.
"It will only be you and him once he's home and if I can remind you another thing.
Adams might have married you as his substitute bride but he isn't someone who likes fun and games.
And if he said that he'll treat you right as long you are his wife, don't be harsh on yourself and recieve it.
Just leave some love for yourself so once all of these are said and done, you won't be left with nothing. Take care, Princess."
