Chapter 11 - Trapped in Bloom and Shadows

Yun Lan's chest heaved as she lay beneath him, the weight of Leon's body pressing her into the bed of wildflowers. Their scent surrounded her, sweet and heady, masking the danger in the air. Her hands pushed against his chest, still struggling.

Leon's eyes narrowed.

"If you keep struggling like that," he said, his voice dark and low, "I'll fuck you right here. On this beautiful flower field."

Yun Lan's eyes widened in shock. "You wouldn't dare."

He leaned in closer, lips brushing the shell of her ear. "Try me."

She stilled. Her breath caught in her throat as his words settled in the air between them. Her heart raced, not just from fear, but from confusion, from the wild, twisted heat that simmered inside her. Leon eventually pulled back slightly.

"Now be a good girl," he murmured, gaze locked on hers.

"Get off me," she said in a firm but calm voice.

He smirked but moved slowly, easing his weight off of her. As soon as she felt the pressure lift, Yun Lan took her chance.

Quick as lightning, she rolled and flipped him over, straddling his waist in one swift movement. Leon blinked, surprised.

"Princess," he breathed, that crooked grin still on his face. "You planning to have your way with me now?"

But Yun Lan was already pulling a short rope from her coat pocket. In one swift movement, she wrapped it around his wrists and tied it tight. He let her, amused.

"If you like teasing and chasing so much," Yun Lan said, tightening the knot, "let's see how you run now."

She moved to his ankles, tying them together with swift precision. Leon watched her with amusement turning into surprise.

"Well, well," he said. "Looks like my little kitten wants to play."

He flexed his legs, and within seconds, the thin rope at his ankles snapped.

"What the—?" Yun Lan jumped back, startled.

Leon laughed. "You didn't think I'd let you bind me completely, did you?"

She bolted.

"If I catch you," he called after her, voice full of wild promise, "I'll fuck you properly!"

Her heart leapt into her throat.

She ran, feet pounding the soft meadow, flowers brushing against her legs. She wasn't sure how long she could outrun him — her legs were sore, lungs burning. Behind her, she could hear him tearing through the flowers like a beast unchained.

But she didn't see it.

A shallow dip in the land, hidden by thick grass and tall blooms. Her foot caught on a loose patch of earth, and suddenly she was falling.

She screamed.

Her body slammed into the ground below. A sharp, shooting pain erupted from her ankle, and she cried out, clutching her leg. A sharp twist confirmed her worst fear.

Sprained. Or maybe broken.

The sun above cast shifting light down into the dip she'd fallen into. It was deep — not a hole, but more like a collapsed tunnel or an old hideout. Time had carved out walls of soft earth and roots. And strangely, the view around her was stunning — a hidden grove, surrounded by rocky walls and wildflowers. No one had been here in years.

"Don't come here!" she shouted as soon as she heard Leon approaching the edge. "It's dangerous!"

She saw his face appear at the top.

His eyes scanned her, assessing. "You're hurt," he said.

"I said stay away!"

But Leon didn't hesitate. He leapt.

He landed a few feet from her with a thud, dust kicking up around them.

"What are you doing?!" she gasped. "Now neither of us can get out!"

He crouched by her side, brushing the dirt and petals from her cheek.

"If you're down here," he said simply, "then that's where I belong too."

His words made her heart twist. She turned her face away, angry and confused.

"You're insane," she muttered.

"For you, yes."

She groaned, trying to crawl toward a slope, but the pain was unbearable.

"Let me see your foot," Leon said.

"Don't touch me!"

He ignored her protests and lifted her injured ankle gently. She winced, but his touch was surprisingly careful.

"Not broken," he said. "But you won't be walking on it anytime soon."

"Thanks to you," she spat.

"You ran," he reminded her. "Again."

There was silence.

The grove around them seemed almost magical, hidden from the world. It was peaceful, except for the tension between them.

Leon pulled off his coat and laid it over the soft grass. "Sit," he said.

Yun Lan, too tired to argue, allowed herself to be guided. She hated him — and yet... there was something about the way he looked at her. Like she was the only thing keeping him breathing.

She sighed, letting her head fall back against a mossy rock. "So what now? We stay trapped together forever?"

He grinned. "Could be worse."

"You're impossible."

"And you're beautiful when you're mad."

She narrowed her eyes. "Stop trying to charm me."

"Too late," he said. "I'm already yours."

"You don't get it, do you?" he murmured, voice trembling with emotion. "Even if you tie me up a thousand times, even if you run until your legs collapse—I'll always find you. You can hate me, scream at me, fight me… but I'll still be here. Because you're mine."

Her heart pounded painfully. "You say that like it's something romantic," she whispered.

"It is," he said without hesitation. "It's the only kind of love I know."

She didn't respond. What could she say? Her leg throbbed, and the cold earth beneath her felt harsher now that the adrenaline had faded. But in his arms, for a moment… she didn't feel quite so lost.

"Let me carry you," he said softly. "You're hurt."

Yun Lan hesitated. Then she gave a small nod.
