Dr. Gero's laboratory wasn't located on Planet Vegeta, but rather on a small asteroid within the same star system.
Due to Planet Vegeta's gravity being ten times that of Earth's, even with his increased battle power, the unfamiliar environment would've been a burden for Gero. And considering his assistants—alien scientists from various parts of the galaxy—weren't warriors either, Paragus had ultimately decided to build the lab on a nearby planet instead.
Since it was within the same system, travel was still convenient. A spaceship ride from Planet Vegeta only took a little over ten minutes.
When Lynx arrived via Instant Transmission, he walked in on a heated debate between Dr. Gero and several alien researchers.
"No! The design has to be done this way!" "But it makes no sense!" "If it aligns with scientific principles, then it makes perfect sense!"
Lynx cleared his throat and calmly said, "Dr. Gero."
"Hm?"
The moment he heard the voice, Gero froze. When he turned around and saw Lynx, he immediately dismissed the group and hurried over, his face filled with respect.
"Your Majesty Lynx! What brings you here?"
"I heard from Paragus that you've run into some issues with your research. I came to take a look."
Hands clasped behind his back, Lynx looked around the facility. "This is my first time here. You don't mind giving me a tour, do you?"
"Of course not!"
Gero promptly led him through the lab. Despite its compact size, it had everything—from research labs and testing areas to production workshops and living quarters.
As they toured, Lynx casually asked, "Dr. Gero, Paragus told me you requested Saiyan corpses for your experiments?"
"Yes, Your Majesty, but please don't misunderstand. I don't intend to desecrate Saiyan bodies. I merely hope to perfect my android technology through study."
Gero explained, "As you may already know, my android technology is actually based on modified humans. All the androids I created for the Red Ribbon Army—including No. 11, which you destroyed—were cyborgs, built from human bodies."
"Now that we're far from Earth, I'd like to research Saiyan physiology. Given that Saiyans are far stronger than humans, I believe that using their bodies as the foundation could produce even more powerful androids!"
"I'm sorry, Dr. Gero. That request is out of the question."
Lynx shook his head. "Saiyans place immense value on their bodies. I won't allow you to tamper with them."
"But Your Majes—"
"Dr. Gero," Lynx cut him off, "Will you be capable of building androids from scratch?"
"From scratch…?" Gero blinked. "In theory, yes. I created one like that for the Red Ribbon Army years ago…"
"Then continue your research in that direction."
Lynx stroked his chin thoughtfully. "Here's what I'm offering you: You can either create androids from the ground up, or we can provide you with corpses of criminals captured from space for you to study and modify."
"But personally, I prefer the first option."
"Fully artificial androids, then…"
"That's right. Your previous goal was to create super warriors to defeat your enemies. But now that you serve the Saiyans, that purpose has to change."
"Saiyans don't currently need ultra-powerful android fighters. What we need are androids that can assist in battle and serve as sparring partners. In other words, we want androids that can be mass-produced—not just elite prototypes. Focus your research in that direction."
"And maybe—maybe—once the technology matures, I'll let you look into making super warriors again."
"I… I understand…" Gero lowered his head, though Lynx couldn't be sure whether he truly accepted the change.
Just then, Lynx tossed a strange fruit toward him.
"Is this… a Tree of Might fruit?" Gero frowned at the gnarled-looking fruit in his hand.
"Yes. It's a Tree of Might fruit. It can rejuvenate your cells… You're not exactly young, are you? This will extend your lifespan and even raise your battle power," Lynx said.
"What?! Something like this exists in the universe?" Gero's eyes lit up in disbelief and joy.
For someone his age, nothing could be more valuable than a longer life.
Cradling the fruit with care, Gero's expression subtly changed. The hesitation and reluctance from earlier melted away, replaced by renewed esteem to Lynx.
"Thank you, Your Majesty. I'll adjust my research path accordingly. Though, if possible… I would still like some alien bodies. Lord Paragus has found me quite a few skilled assistants, so I believe I can conduct both types of research simultaneously."
"Fine. I'll have Paragus take care of it."
As Lynx turned to leave, something occurred to him. He stopped and looked back.
"Oh, right—Dr. Gero, are you doing any research into genetic technology?"
"Genetic technology? I'm not sure what you mean, Your Majesty."
Lynx narrowed his eyes slightly, staring at Gero for a few seconds, then smiled faintly. "If not, that's fine. Just forget it. Farewell."
With that, he vanished using Instant Transmission.
Back on Planet Vegeta, Lynx reappeared in front of Paragus.
"Your Majesty, you've returned."
"Mhm. I've handled things with Dr. Gero," Lynx said. "From now on, if any alien enemies are killed during missions, make sure their bodies are preserved and delivered to him for study."
"So… you've approved his android experiments?" Paragus asked.
Lynx nodded. "As long as it doesn't involve Saiyan bodies, he's free to do as he pleases."
"But Your Majesty…" Paragus hesitated, concern on his face.
"What is it?"
"I heard that Dr. Gero once created androids with battle power exceeding 100,000… For a human to create something like that is beyond anything I've ever seen. What if one day he creates androids even stronger than Saiyans? What then?"
"You think he's capable of that?" Lynx asked.
"Well… I only think it's a possibility…"
Paragus seemed unsure. But Lynx understood—this wasn't just overthinking.
In the original timeline, Dr. Gero had truly done it—using science to transform ordinary humans with battle power less than 5 into androids powerful enough to surpass even Frieza, the emperor of the universe.
