Cherreads

Chapter 25 - Chapter 25 · The Weight of the Light Cocoon

As morning light kissed the Reverse Scale Squad's hovercar in Tokyo Bay, the navigation screen flashed warm golden text: "Glyph Origin awakened—global spirit veins resonating synchronously."

Lanye's Reverse Scale Core burned hot, its seven-color glyphs (gold, pink, deep blue, dark purple, snow white, silver, dark gold) lighting up like seven tiny suns pulsing under his skin. Outside, he saw the city's glyphs glowing: streetlamp metal glyphs blushed cherry pink, tree rings oozed star meteorite blue, and even stray cats' collars bore Reverse Scale spirals.

"What's this..." Xiaotao's star meteorite bracelet levitated from her wrist. "Is the Glyph Origin greeting all glyphs?"

A Jiu's shadow crows burst out, circling the car. Dark purple mist from their feathers condensed into ancient characters: "Glyphs have spirit; love is their guide."

"It's the sanctuary's Glyph Origin resonating," Ming Yuan's voice came from the comms, his figure materializing in a light mist ahead. "Three hundred years, I can finally speak to you like this."

Lanye braked, hovering the car by the road. When they stepped out, the ground was carpeted in glowing dandelions—each puffball etched with tiny Reverse Scale spirals.

"These are 'Glyph Flowers'." Ming Yuan touched one, and its puffball opened to reveal a crouched infant-light cluster. "Awakened Origin nurtures 'Glyph Seeds' with pure energy. They root where love exists, protecting life."

Xiaotao knelt as her bracelet resonated with a flower. A dandelion floated into her palm, its puffball showing her mother's smile—footage from when she was three, in the hospital.

"Mom..." Xiaotao teared up. "Glyph Flowers remember our love."

A Jiu's crows wailed. Her mist tugged a memory: Xiaokui's father in a lab, a tube oozing black slime. His core resonated with the tube, revealing the "Glyph Enhancement Plan" file, its last page reading: "Xiaokui, sorry—Dad needs your glyphs for the final experiment."

"So that's why..." Su Li trembled as her Cherry Glyph resonated. "Xiaokui's father wasn't an accomplice—he was threatened."

Ming Yuan's ornament shimmered silver. Touching a Glyph Flower, it showed: five hundred years ago, seven guardians held a ceremony when one (like Wu Wang) went berserk, rejecting the Origin. The other six sealed him with their lives, shattering the Origin into seven seeds.

"Therefore..." Lanye gripped his core. "Star Beast remnant, Mirror Turbulence—all because polluted shards seek hosts?"

Ming Yuan nodded: "Glyph Origin is the world's 'heart of life'. Shattered, each shard carried wills: protection (Xiaokui's mother), consumption (Star Beast), distortion (Mirror Tech). You, Reverse Scale Squad," his gaze swept them, "are heirs to the seven guardians—Lanye's Blazing Flame, Su Li's Cherry, Xiaotao's Star Meteorite, A Jiu's Crows, Sakura's Healing, Wu Wang's Mirror, my Time—exactly the seven Origin glyphs."

The sanctuary quaked. Wall spirals peeled to reveal dark gold chains—seals from the berserk guardian's core three hundred years ago.

"Not good!" Ming Yuan urged. "Origin shards sense contamination, awakening the remnant!"

The ground cracked, spilling black slime. Figures emerged: Xiaokui's father, Mechanical Glyph Master, Star Beast remnant—their cores merged with the Reverse Scale Core into a dark purple giant core.

"This is..." Lanye's core trembled. "All polluted shards are reforming the Origin!"

Ming Yuan's ornament shrieked. He touched the sanctuary's platform, where spirals glowed gold: "Now! Press your cores to the Origin! Use love to awaken its will!"

Lanye's core blazed. He held Xiaotao's hand to the Origin; A Jiu's crows bound the Mechanical Glyph Master; Sakura's Cherry Glyph wrapped the Mirror Symbiote; Su Li's glyph touched the Star Beast's chains; Wu Wang's ornament froze the berserk guardian's time.

"In the name of the Reverse Scale," Lanye's voice thundered, "By the oath of comrades,

"Awaken the true self, return to the light!"

Seven cores lit up, weaving a net of gold, pink, blue, purple, white, silver, and dark gold around the giant core. It quaked, cracking as shards struggled and yearned for redemption.

"Remember our original hearts?" Lanye looked at his team. "Xiaotao, to protect your mother's smile; A Jiu, to never lose loved ones; Sakura, to spread warmth; Su Li, to fulfill your mother's wish; Wu Wang, to guard time's truth; Ming Yuan, to return glyphs to love..."

His gaze fell on his core: "And we, to prove—glyph power is for connection and protection, not consumption."

The core's cracks healed. Dark purple faded to reveal a snow-white Origin inscribed: "Love is symbiosis; the heart is eternal."

Sanctuary walls smoothed, spirals glowing warm gold. Ming Yuan's ornament chimed as the Origin split into seven lights merging with their cores.

"Congratulations," he said warmly. "You've completed the 'Symbiosis Ceremony'. The Reverse Scale Core is now the collective will of seven guardians—remembering your love, passing it to all."

Morning light gilded them as Xiaokui's pendant floated up, resonating with the core in a clear ring.

"So that's it..." Xiaotao teared up. "Glyphs' meaning is to remember: love is the mightiest glyph."

A Jiu's crows circled, mist forming "Hope". Sakura's petals wove a new totem with the Origin.

Wu Wang's ornament shimmered: "Glyph power is the human heart. When we connect with love, glyphs protect the world."

Ming Yuan reinserted his ornament, tears in his wrinkles: "Three hundred years ago, I failed. Today, you showed me glyphs' most beautiful form."

Lanye felt a warm pulse in global glyph fluctuations—a "protection net" of seven guardians' will and ordinary love.

"Next," he turned to the team, "we'll go everywhere to show: glyphs aren't weapons—they're the heartbeat connecting us to the world."

As the hovercar started, its glyph trail stretched long. The squad's glyphs shone together—star meteorite blue, cherry pink, crow purple, time silver—weaving a star track to the future across heaven and earth.
