Chapter 3 - The appreciator

" It's the story, when I was in the college final year of physics, I was pretty excited to graduate with a prestige to be part of the Calcutta University. But it wasn't an amateur's play, instead an onerous deal

Because we were told to work under different scientists and be a part of experiments in the real world, it was difficult to find my interest in this world of India under the British Empire, because my particular deviation was the new physics, ' the quantum physics' which is largely made up of probability and theory.

Eventually, I found Professor J.C. Bose to be a true polymath( being an expert in several fields); he was the director of the Bose Institute, having studied at St. Xavier's College. He accepted me as a lab researcher; he was working on waves, and my work was just reading different research papers and doing the basic work in his own lab. About 3 months later, he went to England, I got a certificate signed by him that helped with my graduation, and this ( show his watch to the class), which he left on his table before leaving and I picked it up to return it to him, when we'll meet next time in an scientific event, where we both having the similar level of pride for researches."

Oh, so that's how he got this wristwatch, Ashvini thought.

But still today, this watch gives inspiration to work on science and

Like Eklavya used the statue of his master, I have his watch with me.

The Teacher Ended his story

So, students, be ready for the exams, and my best wishes!

Thank sir!! The children replied in sync.

There were two days off before the final exams,

Ashvini was determined to prove himself this time, he feels like his potential and capabilities have not been discovered yet.

As well as getting a reward from Mr. Shantanu himself is a matter of pride and glory for our warrior.

He focused and locked in on his studies, even taking his meals while studying. He tries to see science as something happening in the surroundings itself, how light reflects, how the chemicals in daily use react, how our body functions, etc.

Piles of textbooks were stacked upon his table,

His olive sweater was getting covered by the dust of slate and chalk he was using for practice

( As paper was a rare and precious commodity in those days )

His father was pretty much delighted seeing him this way, hopes got higher, and he thought that his son would also become a doctor like him.

Finally, the day of the exam arrived to his grace, maths was the first and his weakest.

The binomials got out of the head, geometry was hidden at a subtended angle of 180` from his brain. But somehow he crammed through,

The exams are going to end in a matter of seven days, with the last one being the science exam.

He manages to work on the remaining subjects, but

In the end got tied in the science's entanglement.

On the day of the exam, his throat got sore, and the mucus from his peach nose was dripping like a waterfall. Cough, tiredness caught this opportunity to keep him away from proving himself..

He was always already underconfident with optics in physics, that's what came to be the question in his battlefield,

Now, our warrior was alone on the battlefield with a sore throat, a dripping nose, and the Optics!!, being against him.

So, it's here the last battle and a last chance to prove that's where the causality holds to be true in doing what should be done, ' theory of Karma'. He strategizes at the moment, he'll first focus on doing what he knows well and getting the full potential of serving marks on his results. And that's how he finishes up with two unattempted questions out of twenty.

His eyes started shedding tears as the teacher counted the sheets and arranged them in order of roll number.

Disappointed by his performance, he lost the chance to establish potential.

The exams were over, and the vacation started 10 days before the result. While Ashvini couldn't grasp his failure, as he worked hard for something and couldn't perform to his own expectations.

They were the worst of times, they were rust in his mind.

And his health starts trembling as his own confidence in life to achieve his dreams.

Now, it was only the results that could provide some kind of salvation to his expectations.

Soon, the day arrived, he and his father were standing in front of the school gate. Ashvini hesitated and was reluctant to see the results.

But his father told him, When you can think, then you can do, and even should be courageous to face the consequences and results.

Hearing this, they both went inside, where they saw Mr. Shantanu, who made a poker face looking at them. Ashvini was puzzled and started from the worst of all to imagine his scores in the exam.

Anyhow, they went to the notice board where a long list of students with their names and scores was attached. Which was surrounded by other students and their parents eager to know their childs karma in exam, Ashvini also dive in to check his name on the board, starting from the bottom, and his eyes were just looking for something that could be salvation for his identity.

Suddenly, someone tapped his shoulder. "Congratulations!!" he heard from behind. As he got a glimpse, it was Divy. "You got third rank, look there," pointing his fingers to the top of the list.

Savitri Devi Phule 73% Divy Chandran Kushwah 70% Ashvini Kumaran Dubey 67%

" Splendid!!, my friend," Ashvini said.

His spirit wasn't lost this time.

He gets out of the crowd and tells his father, " Your son has some achievements now !"

"I see, let's take your report card!" his father replied, like he doesn't believe his words.

They went to his class teacher, who was sitting on a chair, and her table had a bundle of results stacked in the right corner.

They both sat on the bench in front of her table. The teacher took out his result and showed it to his father, telling him, "Your son has scored the highest in science, 68 marks, which makes him the science topper of the school. "

Upon hearing this, there was a slight relief on their tensed faces.

Ashvini was happy, but still, he just couldn't get enough to be rewarded by teacher Shantanu.

The father had his hand on Ashvini's shoulder, maybe he was proud.

Then they met Mr. Shantanu on their way back,

This time, the face wasn't poker or plain, it was one for the appreciation of his student.

" Well scored!" Mr. Shantanu said with a pleasant tone

" Don't worry, you'll find the way to success."

" Thank you, sir!" Ashvini replied as a toddler sees his father

" Well, Mr. Dubey, can I talk to you in private for a minute, please?" said Mr. Shantanu
