Chapter 2 - The Son of Sun

Mahabharat the epic saga of Indian history and culture that showed the world that family discord over the Greed and lust after the Throne and power can destroy the family.

The Greed and lust of power gave birth to some greater evils that the world has never witnessed such as a warrior trying to kill an unborn child that gets that warrior a curse of immortality that's only filled with pain and incurable diseases.

This was the first time or you can say the beginning of unborn child killing in the womb of women in the Indian history that still continues in the modern times.

But it came as an aftermath of the Mahabharat war that was fought between one family. Brothers went against Brothers. Family against Family.

The foundation stone for this war was the humiliation of a woman.

The woman in talk faced a humiliation that broke all of the moral and ethical boundaries of a family and a society.

The humiliation was the result of the Pandavas gambling their wife Draupadi in a dice game or gambling with their cousin brothers the Kauravs for which the Pandavas were told not to play.

But the said second eldest brother among the Pandavas Yudhishstir who was the King of Indraprashsta and the son of Dharmaraj knowing that they will be get cheated agreed to play the game of dice in which he lost everything.

And the final loosing bet that Yudhishstir had put in the game was his own wife Draupadi and since the Kauravs won the bet they proceeded to humiliate Draupadi.

Her humiliation started when she was in her room in the evening not fully dressed and at that time Dushashan the younger brother of Duryodhan get into her room grabbed her hairs and dragged her into the place where the game of dice was being played.

Her condition was noticed by the maids, soldiers who were present in the royal palace and when she was brought into that place of the game of dice Duryodhan ordered Dushashan to took off her clothes.

The hall where this game of dice was played and then where this Vastraharan of Draupadi was to take place was filled with the greatest warriors of Dwaperyug who are unmatched in strength, valor, knowledge and dharma.

But none of them spoke a single word against that evil that was taking place in there. They all just closed their eyes and hung their heads down without questioning or saying anything.

At that time Draupadi in her pain and tears called for the help from Shri Krishna wholeheartedly and the merciful God immediately helped her and saved her from the disgrace.

But this act alone marked the end of a lineage and family that saw their daughter-in-law getting humiliated and thus the seeds of the Mahabharat war got planted.

After thirteen years of the game of dice on the land of Kurukshetra the war of Mahabharat between two branches of a single family and their allying forces began.

The entire war took place for eighteen days in which both sides faced heavy losses but the most loss was faced by the Kauravs who saw the annihilation of their entire clan with only three people from the Kauravs side where alive.

But the important thing that will shape this story happened on the seventeenth day of the Mahabharat war on which one of the greatest warrior of that time died.

*aaaahhhh...*

*aaahhhhh...*

The battle between the foot soldiers, horsemen, elephant troops, rathi, atirathi, maharathi, atimaharathi waged very fiercely than any other day of the war.

From the beginning the Kauravs offense against the Pandavas was very fierce and aggressive and this was all because of the new commander of the armies of Kauravs.

This new commander of Kauravs has the glow and energy of the sun on his entire body along with great mastery over all of the warfare that are used in this war.

This commander is known as the Suryaputra Karna who is the disciple of Parashuram and King of Anga who wields Vijaydhanush.

Karna has defeated the four Pandavas in the battle and has spared their lives and now he has engaged himself in a war with his only rival Arjun whose chariot is controlled by Shri Krishna and on the flag of Arjun's chariot Shri Hanuman is present.

Even with the presence of two Gods Karna managed to push the chariot of Arjun two steps back while Arjun pushes Karna's chariot ten steps back.

Arjun became arrogant seeing this difference between their powers while he ignored a truth which Shri Krishna told him.

Shri Krishna: "Parth on your chariot I am the lord of the Universe with all of the weight of the universe is present and along with me Shri Hanuman is present. No one should be able to touch this chariot but Karna managed to sent your chariot two steps back that shows his prowess and might in archery and his knowledge."

The words of Shri Krishna made Arjun realize that Karna is on the verge of surpassing him in archery skills and strength.

But fate has a very different plan for Karna that made him die on the war.

Karna has got two curses on him that made him die on the war.

His first was from his teacher Parshuram who cursed him to forget all his knowledge of the mantras of the divya astras when he was in the most need of them.

This curse caught Karna when he tried to invoke Brahmāstra but he begins to forget the mantra of it.

Then the second curse got him according to which the wheel of his chariot got stuck on the ground and didn't move further.

After seeing no other way Karna put down his Vijaydhanush on his chariot and said, "Oh Arjun the wheel of my chariot has stuck in the ground. I have disarmed myself and going to get the wheel of my chariot out of the ground. So I am requesting you to wait for me till I get the wheel out of the ground and after that we will then continue our fight."

After making this humble request Karna got down from his chariot and began to take the wheel out of the ground.

But against that curse his strength proved to be futile and on the other hand Arjun waited for him patiently for Karna.

But Shri Krishna immediately stood up near Arjun and told him, "Parth what are you waiting for your target is standing right before you unarmed. Kill him and finish the story of Karna now."

Arjun: "But Madhav he is unarmed and is not on his chariot. It is against the rules of warfare."

Shri Krishna: "What rules are you talking about Parth ? When we killed Bhisma was he not unarmed ? When we kill dronacharya was he not unarmed and on the groun ? Don't forget Parth that you are standing in the war and the person standing against you is your enemy. And the only duty that you have in this war is to kill your enemy. So pick your weapon and kill him. This is your chance."

Karna: "Shri Krishna please give me the time till I get this wheel out."

Shri Krishna: "Your end has come Angaraj. Your time has been completed on this earth. Parth don't forget that he is also one of the people who have killed Abhimanyu."

Motivated and angry Arjun picked up his bow and began to invoke the Anjalikastra and once the astra was invoked Arjun shoot it towards Karna.

Karna wanted his bow but his charioteer who was the king of Shalya didn't give him the bow because he was angry that he was made the charioteer of a Suta who is considered as a people from the lower caste of that time.

The astra pierced through the neck of Karna and killed him on that spot.
