"Four Hundred grand?!" Marie turned her head sharply to Trent in surprise.
"Well, yeah" Trent answered with a smirk.
"Well, yeah?"
"Just that? How did you get so much money?"
She looked at him, still surprised.
"No wonder Anton likes you..." She muttered
"What?" Trent asked
"Nothing" she responded.
"Here's your certificate for the holding account, Sir" the staff cut in.
"While we call it a holding account, it is more of a business account"
"We are better than other firms because you can register a holding company and link with the account effortlessly" The Staff explained.
"Thank you very much" Trent responded as he took the paper from the person.
"We look forward to working with you more" the staff added, taking a bow.
"Wait..." A man rushed in, out of breath.
"Nevell Hamilton, branch manager," he introduced himself as he walked towards Trent.
The receptionist who welcomed them walked alongside him.
"I was away. I rushed here immediately I got the call" Hamilton said stretching his hand forward for a handshake
"Over $400K in two trades. Brilliant work. It's an honor."
"Thank you very much. It's also my honor to meet you" Trent replied as they shook hands.
"Ahem" Hamilton cleared his throat
"I'm here on behalf of the firm today. It might seem a bit early and seen as luck but I believe you are an incredible person"
"This is my number, I'll assist you in any thing you need" he added passing Trent a note.
"Thank you very much. I'll hit you up if I'm in need of anything" Trent responded, with a smile as he took the note.
Trent and Marie walked out of the office, with Hamilton and the Staffs in a bow as they left.
The company staffs watched them with interest as they walked out of the company.
"Wow" Marie said as they approached the car,
"over 400,000 dollars in 2 days when you started with just 5000 dollars. Aren't you a super genius?" she tugged Trent with her arm.
"No wonder you were looking to open a Trust fund account. Already trying to evade taxing, huh?" She added laughing as they got into the car.
"Haha. That's a bit excessive for praises, no?" Trent laughed as he slid into his seat.
"Excessive? You think?" Marie asked
"Come teach me how to make more money, dude"
"I need to get a new baby soon. This one's getting outdated" She said jokingly, revving the engine of the car.
Just as she was about to drive off, her phone buzzed with a call.
"Anton? Why's he calling?" She said as she picked the call.
"Hey, wildling..." Anton spoke
"I told you to not call me that" Marie responded.
"You're like a wild animal, don't blame me" Anton laughed.
"Is the twerp with you?" He asked.
"Yeah, I'm here. What's up?" Trent answered.
"Good kid..."
"You've got the whole place in an uproar"
"Over 400,000 dollars in less than 2 days when their top prospects haven't even started yet. You should have seen their faces" he said chuckling.
"It already got there? Wow, so scary" Trent replied surprised.
This level of intelligence, is anyone safe from the eyes of the government?
"How did you do that, kid? You using some kind of magic?" Anton asked.
Well, it wasn't really magic. Or was it? How did Ave know the things that happened if it wasn't magic?
"Well.. Since you've made such an interesting event happen, some higher-up have called you to officially get a briefing" Anton responded.
"A briefing?" Trent asked
"Wait.. he didn't get one?" Marie asked, surprised.
"How's that possible" she added.
"Well... Since he didn't pass the Combat evaluation, they decided to give him a very low score and gave up on him" Anton responded with a low tone.
"Ahem" somebody over the phone cut in.
"Who's there with you?" Trent asked
"The old man that wants you here. I'll be the one to do the briefing, so you don't have to worry" Anton answered.
"Hey wildling, bring him here" he added as he cut the call.
"They must be eager to get you back into the fold. Can't believe they let their top Finance prospect go like that"
"Haha. This will be interesting" Marie chuckled as she drove off
Interesting, huh? After letting him go without letting him know the location of the place, he's now being invited to the place just like this. Haha.
They reached a quiet, remote spot.
"We go on foot from here," Marie said, killing the engine.
"What? What about your car?" Trent asked.
"As soon as they verify me, they'll make sure it's secure. I assume you didn't even get a Handler's id?" She replied as they stepped out of the car.
She'd parked close to a pole just standing there. "Wait here" she motioned him as she walked forward.
She walked close to the pole and pointed her card to the pole.
A small green light shone of the the pole.
"Wanna see something cool?" She turned to Trent, smirking.
Something like a door opened in the place. In thin air.
"What the fuck?" Trent shouted surprised. "How is that possible?"
"Barrier tech, what else?" She answered as she walked in,
"I can't explain how it works but the poles are points for the barrier that cloaks the place, that's what I know" she adds.
Trent followed her in and as they walked pass the barrier, the place closed off. This was exciting.
"Welcome, kiddos" Anton greeted them, stretching his hands wide.
"I guess I shouldn't ask how life is treating you anymore. You're already faring so well"
"It's good to see you in this condition, twerp" he told Trent as he wrapped his arm around his shoulder.
"Why do you keep calling me Twerp?" Trent asked as he shook his arms off.
"You're a twerp. A crybaby Twerp"
"Little crybaby Trent doesn't need Chief Handler Sir's help anymore?" Anton replied jokingly, forming to pout.
"Cut it out, both of you. I've got a business to go back to" Marie cut in. "Let's get this over with"
"Ah, the wildling..." Anton turned to Marie, "Don't let her taint you, kid"
"And don't let her fool you either. She graduated top of her set in the Combat evaluation" he adds, laughing.
Trent looked at Marie in awe, she just became cooler to him. And more dangerous.
"Let's go get you updated. They already started preparing your ID before you came so they'll bring it" Anton says, somebody rushed towards them, "Ah, that must be it"
The person handed Trent the ID card, smiled and walked off.
"Wasn't he in my set?" Trent asked pointing at the person.
"Yeah. He graduated well, but decided to stay and work here" Anton replied
"That's an option?" Trent asked, surprised.
"Well, yeah. You just didn't make the cut" Marie answered, laughing.
"Well, you're now officially a Handler, with your own hands"
"Congratulations, kiddo. You're going to serve your country" Anton says laughing as they walked into a room.
"Take your seats. This isn't new to you, but just listen and let the kid listen" Anton tells Marie as he turned the screen on.
They took their seats and Anton pulled up the image of a map on the screen.
"This is the world map, as you know it. This is what people see when they think about the world"
He pulled up another image, a kind of ranking.
Their country, United Alliance of Westeros and another country, Kraven Empire were tied in the ranking.
"For the past hundred years, the world which has supposedly being at peace, has been in a silent war" he continued.
"To keep this war silent and avoiding a full blown war, 76 years ago, our country found the handler program, now having a ten highly equipped branches all over the country"
"There has been countless people graduating off the program over the decades"
"Children who have been abandoned or willingly given up by their parents or guardians are groomed to become Handlers to work in all areas of life—Sports, Finance, entertainment, in every major sector"
"The world is being taken over silently, and we're currently at a tie.. There was a time when we were behind, but the Kraven Empire couldn't just take over anything because of our country and it's alliance" he concluded.
"We are always in need of valuable assets. And a particular old foggy has seen your talents and trusts his guts that it's not just luck" He added as he turned the screen off.
"Welcome to The Handler project, kid" He adds stretching his hands apart, smiling.
He looks at the door awkwardly, "Ahem, Ahem..." He coughs.
As if signalled, an old man walks in.
"I created the best entrance and you ruined it. Hah..." Anton says to him, taking his seats.
Trent and Marie stand up to greet the old man as he walked in. He looked more energetic than his age.
"Haha. Still childish as ever. You can take your seats" the old man laughs, signalling to them.
"Just as he's said, welcome to the Handlers project, Trent" he says, clearing his throat.
"I am Newton, the Head of this Branch. It's nice to finally meet you"
