Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Encounter with the Beast Race

At Shiro's house.

Shiro can be seen at a desk full of brown papers, writing the new tribal rule.

[Men who have pregnant lovers and children under 3 years old are not allowed to go out into the outside world to explore.]

"Manuel, come here, I need your help with something," I said out loud, and waited for Manuel to enter my room.

"Chief, what do you need me for?"

I handed him the sheet of paper with the tribal rule and said, "Here, it's a new rule for all the men of the tribe. Spread the word about this new rule tomorrow. Tomorrow morning I'll go experiment with walkie-talkies in the outside world with the exhibition group." I said normally.

Manuel nodded, "Chief, is there an invention to work on while you're here for the next few days?" Manuel asked, taking the paper and reading it, then putting it away.

"Not for the moment. Treat this as a little break," I say as I drop into the wooden chair.

Current time [9:25 pm]

Most of the tribe's children and some adults are sleeping.

Shiro is lying on her bed in a children's sundress and shorts staring at the ceiling.

"Hey, Great Sage, do you know how to make a mattress?" I ask the Great Sage.

[According to the information I can access and your memories, you can create a mattress with the necessary materials?] The Great Sage says.

"I understand. In that case, please prepare a manual on how to make it and the necessary materials," I tell the Great Sage.

[I'll wait a moment,] says the Great Sage.

Five seconds later, the Great Sage says [Your request is ready].

"That's quick. As always, thank you, Sage, and thank you."

[I understand.]

'Status,' I said in my mind. A few seconds later, a translucent blue screen with white letters appeared in front of me.

My condition is quite good, the only thing I'm not very happy about is my physical stats. Although my physical stats surpass most humans, they're still not enough to even pose a threat to dwarves. Although dwarves are strong, they're not fast.

I'll have to choose a skill with a very good physical talent in the future. Spirit Circuits passively strengthen the body and mind to a certain extent; that's not enough.

"It's time to sleep."

The next morning [6:17 AM] at the cave exit.

Six people can be seen at the exit; it was Shiro's exploration team. They wear tight black suits with white lines, like the special suits from Attack on Titan, long camouflage capes, breathing masks, and goggles.

One of the people is flexing his arms and modeling his suit. "Chief, these suits are very attractive and flexible. Although they look tight, they aren't uncomfortable at all," the man says as he continues modeling his suit.

I slowly approach Alex, who is modeling the suit, and slash him with a knife across the thigh at super-fast speed. Alex is stunned for a moment and screams in fear while grabbing his leg. "Chief, you want to cut your leg."

"No, I just used you as an experiment to test the toughness of the new exploration suit. As you can see, the suit wasn't cut, but the pain from the impact is still there," I say indifferently as I put away my short katana.

Alex was stunned for a moment and noticed that his leg wasn't injured but it still hurt. "Uh, it's true I'm not injured but it hurts, but only a little."

A woman about 19 years old says, "Chief, it's amazing that they have these new exploration suits," she says as she stabs a military knife into her arm, but the knife doesn't penetrate the suit's fabric.

"They're made of a special fiber I developed. This material is very special, quite durable and flexible. According to my estimate, not even the beastmen's claws can damage it," I say calmly.

It's actually just a special synthetic thread created by the Great Sage using the spider silk from a spider monster I devoured with [Gluttony] when we went out exploring once.

"Is that so? It seems quite problematic," says Ana, the woman who asked before.

"Chief, that's incredible. It can even withstand the attacks of beastmen," Alex says.

"It doesn't matter. The most important thing right now is the mission at hand." I say as I open a wooden box. Inside the box are six communication devices. I say, "Everyone, grab one of these version 2.0 communication devices. This is what our mission is about."

Everyone grabbed a 2.0 communication device. I say, "Our current mission is to verify the efficiency of these 2.0 communication devices and the communication range between the 2.0 communication devices." They all nodded firmly, listening attentively.

"We'll split into three teams of two people, and we'll head in three different directions: the front, the left, and the right. Every three minutes we'll stop and communicate." Everyone nodded again.

"Then let the mission begin," and we set off in three different directions.

2 hours later

"[This is Team 2, Captain Ana, 12 kilometers from base, communication stable, over]."

"[This is Team 3, Captain Alex, 11 kilometers from base, communication stable, over]."

"[This is Team 1, Captain Shiro, 14 kilometers from base, communication stable, over]."

"[This is Team 1 to Team 3, report your exact location, over]."

"[This is Team 3, my exact location is in a mountain range about 5 kilometers from one of the Beastmen tribes, over]."

"[Team 1 to Team 3, move away from that area as quickly as possible, that's an order, over]."

"[Team 3 to Team 1, I understand the order and execute it immediately, over]."

"[This is Team 2 to Team 1, I'm in the White Forest, over]."

"[This is Team 1 to Team 2, maintain a steady pace, over]."

"[This is Team 2 to Team 1, I understand, over]."

"Hey Rober, do you think Alex will be so unlucky as to encounter the beast race?" I ask Rober, my teammate. He's 19 years old and a water breathing user, and according to the Great Sage, he has the strength of a pillar.

"In my humble opinion, and considering that every time he goes out exploring, he runs into a demon race or a fight between other races, I'd say so," Rober says with irony in his voice.

"How long do you think it will take him to encounter a group of beast races?" I say in a neutral voice.

"About 10 to 15 minutes at most," Rober says matter-of-factly.

"Well, let's rescue them, otherwise they'll be captured and devoured without leaving any bones," I say as I start running in the direction of Alex and his teammate.

"I understand, boss," says Rober as he runs after me.

About 20 minutes later, Alex contacts us.

"[This is Team 3 to Team 1, Chief, Chief, Chief, help! 10 beastmen are chasing us and want to eat us. Over]." Alex said with anxiety in his voice.

"I knew it, this guy always has bad luck."

"[This is Team 1 to Team 3, run in our direction. We're already on our way to your location. Over]."

"[How nice! Thanks, Chief, Over]."

"Come on, Rober, accelerate faster," I say as I jump from tree branch to tree branch.

"Yes."

An hour later.

Two young men can be seen fighting 10 beastmen in a clearing in the middle of the forest.

"Theresia, I think if Chief doesn't arrive in time, we're going to die," says Alex with tiredness in his voice and a bit of concern.

"Shut up, Alex. If you keep cursing us, we'll really die," Theresia shouted loudly, while blocking a beastman's claw with her katana.

The two continued fighting with the beastmen, blocking claws, cutting the beastmen's skin, and being hit by the beastmen's claws.

"Hey, hairless monkey, since when did you hairless monkeys get so strong?" says a beastman covered from head to toe in clothing. He clashes his claws with the edge of Theresia's katana.

"Who do you think I am, telling you our information?" Theresia said with fury in her voice as she repelled the beastman's arm.

They fought like this for three minutes until Theresia and Alex were defeated.

"Alex and your damn mouth, now you're really going to kill us," Theresia said irritably as she was carried on one of the beastman's shoulders.

"It's not like I want to have bad luck," Alex says as he's carried like a sack of potatoes.

Two minutes later, Shiro and Rober have just arrived at the previous battle zone.

"Looks like we're late, they've already taken them," I say as I look at the battle zone.

"Boss, this battle zone hasn't been abandoned for long, about five minutes at most," Rober says, crouching down and touching the ground.

"Yeah, they're about 500 meters ahead of us," I say as I start running forward.

Three minutes later, we catch up with the beastmen.

"Hey, guys, look, more hairless apes have arrived to rescue our newly captured food," a beastman says when he sees Shiro and Rober jump over them and stop in front of them.

At that moment, I rushed forward, strengthened my body with a little magic enough so the beastmen wouldn't notice, drew my short katana, and defeated them in less than 10 seconds.

I accelerated, kicked the one who had trapped Alex in the face, jumped, and kicked the one who had trapped Theresia in the neck. And without thinking, I used the trees surrounding us as springboards and knocked all the beastmen unconscious.

"That was enough, Alex, Theresia, are you okay?" I asked them both.

Alex, shamelessly, crawled toward me and hugged me. While still kneeling with tears in his eyes, he said, "Chief, I knew you would arrive in time and rescue us."

I froze like a doll with no room. Well, it's not like they could see my expression; the transparent breathing mask and goggles we all wear make it impossible to see our expressions.

Without thinking, Theresia kicked Alex twice, sending him flying and crashing into a tree like a sticker.

"Chief," I sobbed, "we almost died. Thank you for coming to rescue us." Theresia picked me up and hugged me against her chest, not too big and not too small.

Without saying anything, I stroked her head with the hood in her hair and my hand, wearing a black combat glove.

"That's it, that's all over."

Theresia put me down and left me on the ground. I turned around and said to everyone, "Tie these guys up. We're going to interrogate them, and if they don't want to tell us the inflation I want, I'll use them as experimental subjects."

Everyone nodded, and we began to tie them up with specially reinforced shackles and chains.

We started running in the opposite direction from the beastmen tribe.

Without anyone noticing, Shiro created a thought clone from the magic of Zeref Dragneel from the world of Fairy Tail.

The thought clone began to erase the traces of their fight and their journey.
