A year and a half had already passed since starting middle school.

Kuroka and I had gotten pretty comfortable with each other by now. She'd even spar with me occasionally—though she'd completely taken over my bed and spent way more time playing my video games than I did.

But there was one thing that made me happier than any improvement in my abilities. By the time I became a second-year, I'd finally grown taller than Kuroka!

When I first met her, I was still technically in elementary school (had graduated but was still registered as an elementary student), so being shorter than her was understandable. Still, having an adult mind made it bother me more than it should have... I definitely started drinking milk way more often after that.

As for school, I ended up in the same class as the Perverted Trio again in second year. The teachers probably stuck all the problem kids together on purpose, but our class's girls were definitely getting the raw end of that deal.

When they announced the class assignments, I'm pretty sure I saw some girls break down crying on the spot. I really hope that was for different reasons... though that'd be its own problem.

My role in all this? I was basically the Perverted Trio's wrangler. The girls in our class would give me these pitying looks while begging me to "please do something about those three"—some even bowed their heads to me.

Thanks to my training, I could take all three of them down at once if needed. Plus, my senjutsu let me track their locations, so I'd know if they were peeping in some locker room or whatever. Apparently the girls recognized my achievements in this area... not exactly the kind of recognition I wanted.

Senjutsu was perfect for stealth and reconnaissance, but was this really the right way to use it? I had my doubts, but letting those three run wild would eat at my conscience, so I sucked it up.

The trio got pretty pissed at first when I kept busting them during their sneaking and photo-taking sessions. But lately their attitude had softened a bit.

That's because I'd started joining their perverted conversations when it wasn't going to bother anyone around us. I couldn't match their blazing libido, but having Kuroka in my room meant I couldn't exactly get my hands on that kind of stuff... I didn't have the guts for that.

One time they asked me, "So what's your holy grail of perversion?!" For some reason Kuroka flashed through my mind, and I blurted out, "The tantalizing glimpse—almost seeing but not quite."

Ever since then, they'd been calling me things like "the guy who keeps work and personal separate but has his own perverted core," "closet pervert," and "glimpse specialist." I have no idea what I was thinking that day.

Anyway, over the past year and a half, nothing major had happened with me, Kuroka, or the Gremory family. A few stray devils had wandered into town, but the Gremory group handled them without any issues.

And tomorrow we were finally going on our school trip. Destination: Kyoto! It was one of the settings from the original story, and I'd been there on a school trip in my previous life too. But back then I was genuinely just a kid, so I never really got the whole "ancient capital charm" thing.( I was half Japanese for your info).

Now that I was mentally an adult going for the second time, I wanted to appreciate it properly.

"Kuroka, like I mentioned before, I'll be back in three days. Want me to bring you anything specific as a souvenir? If not, I'll just grab whatever looks good."

I asked Kuroka, who was lying face-down on the bed, kicking her legs while reading manga.

"Hmm, some yatsuhashi would be nice. I'll leave everything else up to you♪"

"Got it."

With thoughts of tomorrow's trip in my head, I drifted off to sleep.

The day of the school trip arrived. The plan was to gather at school first, then take a bus to the station and catch the shinkansen to Kyoto.

For group assignments, we were supposed to have mixed-gender groups, but no girls were brave enough to join our group of four guys.

Matsuda had gone to our homeroom teacher with a passionate protest: "Sensei! Our group is the only one without any girls—this is discrimination!" But his dreams never came true.

"Revolution!"

"I've been waiting for this moment! Counter-revolution! Heh heh heh, you guys only have strong cards left, right? This round's mine!"

We were in the middle of an intense Daifugō game on the shinkansen, sitting in seats facing each other. Apparently they'd added some kind of side bet about "the order for peeping at the girls' bath at the inn," and Issei and the others were playing with crazy intensity.

Motohama's revolution move had left Issei and Matsuda looking absolutely devastated.

"Take this—stairway revolution!"

"GYAAAHHH!"

Motohama's scream echoed through the train car. Loud as hell.

"Nice! Way to go, Ikki!"

"Indeed, Motohama's down for the count. Since Ikki won't actually peep, it's basically a showdown between me and Issei! I won't lose!"

"Bring it on!"

I'm definitely stopping these idiots from peeping at the hotel. With that thought, we continued our journey to Kyoto.

….

≪We will be arriving in Kyoto shortly. Please watch your step when exiting and don't forget your belongings...≫

The announcement came over the intercom—we were finally arriving in Kyoto.

I grabbed my bag with clothes and other stuff, and we got off the train once it stopped.

"Kyoto ladies, here we come! Wait for us!"

"Yes! Kimono beauties! Those elegant napes! I'll capture them all with this camera!"

"Heh, my scanner works perfectly fine even through kimono. If you want to know the exact measurements of any girl that catches your eye, just ask this Motohama-sama anytime."

"Come on, let's get moving, you idiots."

Kyoto was definitely a classic school trip destination. Looking around, I could see students from other schools scattered about too. If we dawdled, we'd lose track of our own group.

We passed through the ticket gates, did a quick headcount, and followed our teachers' lead toward today's hotel.

After about a twenty-minute walk, we reached our destination—just a regular hotel. Definitely not the "Sirzechs Hotel" or "Serafall Hotel." Come to think of it, did those hotels even exist before the peace treaty?

In the hotel lobby, our teacher gave us a warning (wrapped in polite language) that if anyone caused a ruckus in the middle of the night or pushed emergency buttons for no reason, he'd beat us senseless and tie us up.

"Alright, everyone drop your bags in your rooms, then you have free time in your groups until 5 o'clock. Make sure to take at least one photo of the places you visit. If you forget to take pictures, I'll assume you skipped sightseeing to go somewhere inappropriate, and you'll have to write a report about wherever you actually went when the trip's over."

Despite some booing from certain students, the teacher finished his warnings and we all headed to our assigned rooms.

"Alright! The other groups will drop off their stuff and immediately head out to visit shrines and temples. While they're doing that, we'll scout the optimal spots for peeping at the girls' rooms and bath!"

"Yeah!"

"Hell yeah!"

For a second I thought about stopping them right here, but they weren't actually causing any harm yet. I could step in when they tried to put their plan into action.

"I'll wait outside the hotel. When you're done playing around, hurry up and get out here. If we can't stick to our sightseeing schedule because of this, I'm making you guys write my report too."

With that, I headed outside alone. No way I was sticking around for all of that crap.
