Chapter 7 - Status and Power - Chapter 7

The sky was still dark when Arin opened his eyes.

He didn't hesitate.

He didn't reach for his bag, didn't wash his face, didn't even think about breakfast.

Aura.

That was all that mattered now.

He exhaled, drawing in calm.

His aura had been wild the previous night leaking out of his body like steam through broken pipes. Now, he would rein it in.

"Ten the first of the four major techniques of Nen was what I needed to master." he said to himself.

It was the art of containment, of creating a thin membrane of aura that clung to the body, protecting it, refining it, shielding it from both fatigue and external attacks.

It was basic.

And it was vital.

Contain it. Draw it back. Command it.

At first, it resisted too free, too wild but he persisted.

Wrap. Wrap. Wrap.

He imagined his aura folding back over his limbs, hugging his skin, forming an invisible second layer.

His limbs stopped tingling. His head cleared.

The drain slowed.

Ten.

He held it.

For a minute.

Then two.

Then five.

His thoughts remained silent. His breathing even.

For the next several hours, Arin pushed no further.

He simply held Ten. Then let go.

Then held it again.

It was the foundation.

And he knew, even as sweat ran down his brow and his back ached from sitting so long, that his future strength depended on how solid this foundation was now.

After five hours of practice,

Arin slowly released his aura back to a passive state and leaned back, cracking his stiff neck.

His stomach let out a low, angry growl.

"Right," he muttered with a faint grin. "Still a body to feed."

"I can feel that all my basic physical capabilities have increased by ten or even twenty times."

"I should be able to stand against the Hunter Exam Arc, Killua but still fighting against him would be hard thing to do due to inexperience but I am sure to keep my life."

"My lifting power should be two to five tons..."

Just by awakening and "Nen" and using "Ten" gave supernatural power to it is user.

The difference between an ordinary human and a nen user is a lot, a big mountain difference.

He stood, stretched his limbs one by one, and washed his face in the small sink near the wall.

The streets outside were lively.

Arin kept his head down as he walked, not wanting to draw attention.

He passed two convenience stalls, then turned into a small side street, where the scent of grilled rice, onions, and charred meat filled the air.

A modest food shack was tucked beside an alley, with two worn stools and a steaming grill. An old woman behind the counter raised her brows.

"Hungry?"

Arin nodded, sitting down. "Whatever's hot."

She grunted and slid a tray over the grill, throwing in meat strips, seasoned greens, and a cracked egg. "Five hundred Jenny."

Arin placed the coins without comment and rested his arms on the counter, eyes watching the steam rise.

That's when it happened.

A faint click inside his mind.

He blinked.

The system.

He remembered that it said to him to think about "Unknown" while he was opening his aura nodes to awaken "Nen."

But now, as if responding to the silence of his focused morning, it whispered:

"Try thinking the word 'System.' Just think it. Not out loud."

Arin's brows furrowed slightly, but his mind obeyed.

System.

In that instant, something shifted behind his eyes.

Not pain. Not sound. Just a quiet pulse, and then suddenly he saw it:

[SYSTEM INTERFACE – OPEN]

Name: Arin Walker

Age: 23

Race: Human

Origin: Unknown

Nen Nodes: Open

Current Nen Control: Primitive (Level 1)

Nen Type: [UNKNOWN – NOT YET TESTED]

Skills:

Nen Mastery – (Level 1)

Unknown Origin (Due to user being from an unknown realm and place, the laws of the nen and the life works differently for the user)

Arin's eyes widened just slightly.

The panel hovered in his mind, translucent, almost dreamlike, visible only when he focused on it.

This… wasn't just an inner voice or a hallucination.

This was structure.

A full system interface.

Not present in the original Hunter x Hunter world, at least not like this.

His breath slowed as he took in the details.

So it can track my Nen control. It even breaks down sub-skills and progression percentages.

He wasn't sure if this system was part of the world… or something brought with him when he arrived.

But whatever it was, it gave him a massive advantage.

He focused for a moment and willed the screen away.

The panel vanished instantly.

"Food's ready," the old woman said, placing the hot plate in front of him.

"Thanks," Arin muttered, still dazed.

He ate slowly, thoughtfully, his mind split between the taste of well-grilled protein and the firestorm of questions in his head.

I have a system. It tracks my Nen.

His grip tightened on the edge of the plate.

"I will need to use it to my highest advantage..."
