Chapter 1 - Chapter One

The air inside Belle Reve was thick with the kind of quiet that made you second-guess everything. It wasn't a peaceful silence. No, this was the calm before the storm—a storm that was about to rip through the prison walls like they were made of tissue paper.

Harley Quinn's eyes gleamed from the shadows of her cell. She could feel it in the air—the electricity, the anticipation. It wasn't just another night. Tonight, her Puddin' was coming for her. She had only been at Belle Reve for a few hours, Batman caught her out on a solo escapade.

Her fingers twisted the hem of her ragged shirt, her lips curving into a grin as her heels tapped softly against the floor. The guards hadn't seen her coming, but they'd soon learn that they could never keep the queen of chaos caged for long.

She heard it—the unmistakable sound of footsteps echoing down the hallway. Slowly, deliberately. The kind of footsteps that made the walls tremble, the kind that sent shivers down your spine even if you didn't want to admit it. Joker.

He appeared at the end of the hallway, his silhouette cutting through the dim lighting like a shadowed god of madness. His grin stretched across his face like an omen. His green hair glowed faintly under the flickering lights. His eyes—those eyes—full of chaos, hunger, and a twisted kind of joy.

"Ready to get out of here, princess?" Joker's voice was a whisper, a promise, a threat all wrapped into one.

Harley's smile was as dangerous as it was wide. "Oh, Puddin'," she purred. "I've been ready."

Without another word, Joker nodded to his men, and the chaos erupted.

The first guard barely had time to blink before Joker was on him, swift and brutal. He grabbed the man by the collar, lifted him off the ground, and tossed him through a security door with a sickening thud. The man was out cold before he hit the floor.

Harley was next. She whirled around, her mallet swinging through the air like a hammer of doom. It cracked into the chest of a guard, sending him flying across the hallway, crashing into the wall with a sickening crunch. His helmet flew off, and Harley giggled, spinning around with the same reckless abandon that had always made her the most unpredictable force in the room.

"Whoopsie-daisy!" she sang, skipping over the fallen bodies like a child playing hopscotch.

Joker's laughter echoed down the hallway, deep and menacing. He looked at the group of guards that had assembled, ready to fight back, and in a flash, his weapon was in hand—a long, jagged blade that gleamed under the fluorescent lights. He twirled it between his fingers, a wicked smirk dancing on his lips.

"You think you can stop us?" Joker taunted, stepping forward with a murderous grace. "Let me make this simple for you… You can't."

He lunged, the blade slicing through the air. Guards dropped like flies, some collapsing instantly, others screaming in agony. Joker reveled in their panic. To him, this was a dance—beautiful, violent, and chaotic. It was a symphony, and the guards were just unfortunate notes in the melody.

Harley twirled around a guard's back, wrapping her arms around his neck in a playful hold, her smile never faltering. "You guys really thought you had me, huh?" she giggled, her voice light and mocking. "But you didn't count on my little Puddin' comin' to rescue me."

With a sharp crack of her mallet, she knocked out the guard with a brutal swing, sending him tumbling to the floor, unconscious. The hallway was a battlefield—a maze of fallen bodies, broken glass, and chaos.

The last of the guards retreated, but it didn't matter. Joker and Harley were already at the exit. As they tore through the prison gates, the unmistakable sound of helicopter blades filled the air.

"Batman," Harley said, her tone suddenly serious. "He's on his way."

Joker's grin widened. "Let him come," he sneered. "We'll give him a show."

But Harley wasn't looking at Batman. She was looking up, her eyes narrowing as she noticed the dark figure hovering above them. A flash of dark hair and a familiar smirk.

Jonny Frost.

"Frost!" Harley yelled, her voice cutting through the noise. "You made it! You know what to do!"

Jonny's face appeared in the chopper's window, a wicked grin on his face as he hit the throttle, pulling the helicopter up with ease. The roar of the blades intensified as the machine shot upward into the night sky. Batman, arriving too late to stop them, watched helplessly from below.

"You should've been quicker, Batsy," Joker's voice rang out from above. "But don't worry—we'll make sure to send you a postcard!"

Batman growled, his fists clenched in frustration. He couldn't follow them now. Not unless he wanted to risk a deadly crash landing on innocent civilians. The Joker and Harley Quinn were untouchable once again—this time, in a way Batman never could've predicted.

As the helicopter ascended, Joker and Harley locked eyes. The night was just beginning. And Gotham? Gotham was about to learn what true chaos looked like.
