*Noah's POV*
The crash happens at two-thirty in the afternoon.
I'm reviewing contracts when my phone buzzes with an unknown number. I almost ignore it, but something tells me to answer.
"Hello?"
Heavy breathing fills the line. Then Chloe's voice, shaking with rage.
"This is all your fault!"
I lean back in my chair. "What's my fault now, Chloe?"
"Everything!" Her voice cracks with emotion. "The way my family treats me. The way Zoey orders me around like some servant. All of it!"
Through the phone, I hear car horns honking. The sound of traffic.
"Where are you?"
"Sitting in my wrecked car on Fifth Avenue." She lets out a bitter laugh. "I crashed it driving away from that bitch cousin of mine."
"Are you hurt?"
"My pride's hurt. My dignity's hurt." Her voice turns venomous. "But you wouldn't understand. You've got your perfect new life while I'm stuck being Zoey's personal chauffeur."
I say nothing. Let her vent.
