Chapter 1 - Tobias Arendelle

POV: Tobias Arendelle

Fate and Destiny are bulshit ideologies, regardless of whether you believe them or not, sometimes you need to be like fuck the fate and should do what you actually want to do. I texted my friend Will.

He sent me a like in agreement.

A knock on my door pulled my attention from my phone screen.

"Sir, the session may start anytime soon." Mr. Morrison reminded me as I had asked him to.

Yeah, as the session starts, a lady in all blue, who was brought by a man maybe in his mid 30s or so.

She looked like she's straight out from her vacation with some extra tan.

Yeah, yeah I'm some extra judgemental, whatever.

"Good morning, sir." The lady spoke.

I smiled and shook hands with both of them and gestured towards their seats.

"Sir, this is my wife, Grace Williamson. But unlike her name, she screams all night and doesn't let me sleep" The man spoke even before they sat.

Keep your shaft in your pants. Problem solved. My reckless inner voice suggested.

I slowly nodded to the man, like a good listener.

"That's Bulshit sir. This man's lying. I'm the one suffering here, so I will speak, you better shut up, David." The lady spoke in a furious tone.

I smiled and gestured to her to continue, and David rolled his eyes at her.

Marriage is chaos.

"I'm Grace, a secondary school teacher for special kids, I think I have Misophonia, you know, it's growing on me real bad, and I think I also have hyperacusis."

Keep thinking.

I smiled, like a good therapist.

"And who diagnosed you?" I asked in sign language.

Because obviously, I'm mute, or in fancy words Verbally challenged.

"I guessed it by my symptoms, all thanks to the internet."

I resisted my urge to roll my eyes so hard but I couldn't.

"Oh I'm sorry, did I talk too much, or did I talk too loud, I think I did, I'm extremely sorry.

I'm-"

I nodded at her to reassure that I understand that she's nervous and signalled that she didn't have to be this nervous.

I gestured at the glass of water. She understood and drank it.

Yet, it didn't seem to relax her furrowed eyebrows.

"But my husband doesn't get it, he thinks I'm mad.

He made me visit a number of useless therapists, who had a croaky voice themselves.

What's the point of being a therapist if one doesn't have a therapeutic voice-"

"We're no RJs, Madamè" I signalled her

"Yeah ,whatever, you know, what they said is that I have anger issues and some more complications!."

She was visibly furious as she was remembering it again, I let her vent it all out.

"COMPLICATIONS!!! MY FOOT!!

Look at me, I'm fit and fine,

Maybe a little overweight, but I'm not a gram more 190 pounds,

But I'm happy, I'm delighted.

It's just that I hate loud noises. I absolutely hate it.

That's why I came to you, because you're the perfect person for this, The Silent Psychologist"

Heck you lady. She literally screamed the whole sentence but not the last part.

"Who doesn't have complications?

Every unique person is called a retard until the world realizes his worth" I signed as I looked straight into her eyes.

"Ma'am, you're absolutely fine, we'll prove that to those people who called you sick.

But If you keep remembering them and getting angry, you may actually get the anger issues like they've said, so don't remember them, stay calm to prove them wrong" I told her that in sign language.

"Yes, I knew you'd understand me. Thank you Mr. Arendelle, you're a true therapist" She said as her eyes glowed.

Sometimes you just need to be that somebody who one can talk their heart out to without having to explain every single detail.

"Ma'am. Now can you please head out for a sec, I need to speak to your husband regarding this?" I signalled her and she nodded and went out.

Then her husband explained the whole scenario. I understood and I wrote the prescription and dosage, and dates of the upcoming sessions..

Now that's a normal day in my life.

As the clock hit 12, I swiftly drove back to my house to see my fur baby Brian, Brian Arendelle.

I opened the doors expecting him to be excited and hoping he'd hop on me immediately, which didn't happen.

Nevermind, I excitedly looked around to find him, and there he was, sleeping on the bed like he had worked all night.

Sometimes I wonder who's the dog among us.

Nevermind, I pick him up, and he slightly wakes up and finally starts hopping on me, and licking my face.

I fed him and took him for a walk and ate my lunch and returned to my work.

In my workplace, surprisingly I had less patients today.

So I decided to drive back home, my fellow guy Will saw my car and called me, I smiled at him, he took that as an invitation to sit in my car and did so..

I saw his coffee stained shirt and asked him about that.

"Man, my girlfriend, I wish she was mute like you, world would be such a better place then" wishing a verbal disability to his better half, only Will could do that.

"You know what's funnier, this, coming from the man who initially was dying for her one phone call" I said as I tried to pull his leg.

"Because then, it was only one phone call and she'd be done,

But now, if I miss one phone call then I'll be gone"

A smile made its way to my face as I heard that.

Indeed marriages are chaotic.

I drove to my home.

I also invited him in. We entered as I opened the door.

Brian wasn't at the door, I thought maybe he's again asleep and went to my bedroom,

He wasn't there either.

Where did Brian go

My heartbeat was erratic in a second, I was controlling myself really hard from panicking to death, and I rushed downstairs to find him.

I saw only my friend who I brought along.

Is Brian kidnapped, is he being tortured?

No, He's the only family I have. I can't lose him!!!

Awful thoughts circles in my mind.

"Briiiiiiiiii" I screamed.

"You... You JUST SPOKE!!!! YOU JUST SPOKE TOBY. YOU SPOKE!!" William exclaimed in joy.

"Bri-Brian isn't here, find him" I signalled furiously

He understood and we started looking for him, we searched for him in the whole locality in just 2 hours,in every parks and street nearby, and yet no hints, nothing.

We're now simply back to square one.

Suddenly out of nowhere, Brian comes inside the house hopping...

The relief I felt can't be explained in words, I felt like something suddenly silenced the whole emotional turmoil in me for the past two hours...

But who took him and sent him back!!

Is there an intruder in my house??

My survival instincts are on.

I hugged my dog to the chest trying to protect him.

But nobody came in front.

I called up my neighbour Ryaan for the CCTV footage oh his house which almost covers every vehicle that comes near my house.

He just laughed it off saying Brian has got a girlfriend, unlike me.

I am furious now, he noticed and then decided to check the CCTV of the house, which only he had access to.

Some black jeep comes and horns in front of the house, and this little bastard of Brian comes happily in front of the gate.

And a person in baggy black clothes comes out and jumps the gate and picks him up and jumps out from the compound of the backdoor which is relatively shorter.

And Brian being the Golden retriever he is, goes along with the thief happily.

"I think we need to appoint a guard, Toby." Ryan said.

"I can't believe that, we are considering appointing a guard to guard a guard dog, Such a shame Brian!!" I signalled at my furry bastard, which he clearly seems to not have understood and gave me a very innocent smile.
