"I won't fight you for a single pouch like him. He's so stupid he didn't notice the floor over there was slippery and fell to his own death," the woman says after seeing her partner falls to the hole. I think she doesn't realize that I used magic to make that man fell to his death.
But he's not dead yet. He's just on his way to his death. Maybe he will survive the fall. But I know more than anyone that there's no way up or out from the hole.
…Maybe there is. Because the game only shows dialogue that you're dead. And the protagonist didn't die from the fall but from starvation due to not having enough food.
Well, whatever the case, I doubt he can get out easily.
"I won't die alone here! I'll make sure you won't get out of here!"
We can hear his voice as he falls and then a huge explosive boom can be heard. The woman and I look at the bridge that was attacked by the man as he falls. And the bridge is slowly being destroyed. Leaving no way out for us.
"No! We can't get out of here!" the woman shouts.
Meanwhile, I'm just calmly walking to the button and press it. The bridge should be appearing after being pressed. But nothing happens.
"Whoa, the bridge doesn't come up again," I say.
Even when the timer should have run out already, the bridge doesn't appear.
The woman is in tears. She's on her knees swearing at the man who was her party member.
"Fuck! I shouldn't have given him the water and bread if I knew you're like this! Now I can't get out of… what the fuck!? How are you crawling on the wall!?"
The woman who was just cursing at the hole is now looking at me, a man who is sticking myself to the wall to crawl out of this place. Using modified slip magic so I can increase friction instead of reducing it I'm sticking myself to the wall trying to get out when she notices me. Maybe I should call this magic friction magic instead. But the appraiser said slip magic so I guess there won't be any name change anytime soon.
"I'm getting out of here. Why should I stay?" I say.
Sticking myself to the wall and moving is harder than I thought. That arachnid-hero was just lucky that he also got super strength. I don't have super strength. Just super sticky.
I need to focus of when which part of my body needs to be sticky and when they don't. And I have to carry my whole weight as well. Good thing the pouch actually made all the weight of the items inside to be gone. Thanks to that I don't have to carry heavier weight than my sword which is still on my waist. With my slip magic, even if I'm upside down, the sword won't leave the scabbard.
"Wait! Don't leave me here! Take me with you!" the woman shouts.
I look at the woman then I look at myself. Two hands on the wall, both my feet on the walls, and both my knees are on the wall as well.
"How? Look at me! I'm making a ridiculous pose to get myself out of here and how do you think I can take you with me?"
The woman is looking at me sticking on the wall. All we need is just to go to the previous path and then we should be able to get outside by using the first bridge which shouldn't be destroyed. But even when I'm alone it will take some time until I can get there. Carrying someone with me? I don't know how much mana I have left. I used quite a lot on the way here.
"I can… hug you from the back! No, that's scary. I will hug you from the front and you carry me outside," she says while shamelessly pressing her breasts together to appeal them for me.
To be honest, I'm enchanted. I'm just a normal man after all. But my life is more important.
"Lady, you are pretty. I can say that you are prettier than most girls I have seen. But you're not "I'm-going-to-sacrifice-my-life-for-you" pretty. So the answer is no. Even I will have to spend a lot of mana moving by myself," I say.
The woman thinks for a while and she finally makes her decision.
"My father is a rich merchant! He's famous! His name is Gunnar! I'm sure you have heard of his name! I can ask my father to give you some rare item if you save me!" the woman says.
Gunnar? Famous merchant? I have heard of him. But it's not from this life. It's from the game.
In the game, there's a famous merchant who owns the Cabal store. It's a huge store or maybe more of a company instead with a lot of branches almost everywhere. And the owner of the store is someone called Gunnar.
He never appeared on the game but when I interacted in the game with the staffs they often said something about how the owner of the store called Gunnar changed after his daughter went missing for years. That's the only thing I know about Gunnar other than his stores.
But she's his daughter? If he changed so much after his daughter went missing, then his daughter must be really important for him. If I return his daughter to him, I could even be a VIP member of the store.
Now that's interesting. But there's something I don't like.
"So, you're the daughter of a rich merchant coming all the way to this dungeon with a stranger who invited you to his party and targeted your body. If that's the case, then my guess is that you're running away from home. Am I correct?" I ask the woman.
The woman doesn't say anything but that means I'm correct. I don't like this.
"If we get out of this alive, how do I know that you will keep your promise? You're running away from home and now you're telling me that you're going back home to reward me. What if you run away? Why should I risk my life for an empty promise?" I ask again.
"It's not an empty promise. After staying here for weeks and betrayed by someone I thought to be friend today, I can't handle it anymore. I want to go home. I don't care anymore about whether my father will marry me to a stranger to get connection anymore. I just miss my family," she says.
Is that true? I don't know. But if it's true, then the benefit is too great to ignore. I can make a connection with the owner of Cabal Store.
"One rare item! Then I will agree to get you out of here alive and I will even escort you back to your father as long as you are willing to do as I say on the way back. It's also to make sure that you won't run away," I say.
So I carefully return back to her as she sighs in relief that I didn't leave her alone.
"Give me all your weapons," I say.
"Why?"
"To make sure you won't kill me. You will hug me and that distance is way too close for me to react if you want to kill me. Remember that I will get you back home as long as you do as I say. Give them to me."
She hesitates slightly but she gives her knives, bow, and arrows to me. I remember that the two corpses had these items to loot in the game.
"For a daughter of a rich merchant, you have normal equipment," I say.
"I don't want to rely on my family for everything. I didn't know that I have such a great privilege to have until I got stuck here for weeks. It gave me enough time to think," she says.
Without hesitation, I throw everything she gave me to the hole. They're worthless to me. Even if they can be sold, I already have a lot of money.
"Why did you do that!?"
"First, I don't want to carry so much weight. Just crawling on the wall with my own body is so slow. Carrying you as well? It will be a really slow journey. Second, in case that man is still alive down there, I hope he will be stabbed by the knives or the arrows," I say.
"…Okay. Then, shall we go?" she asks shyly knowing that she has to hug me on the way back.
"Not now. I used a lot of mana today and I need to rest. You stay over there and I will rest here near the button. Don't get close to me at all. I'll call you when I'm ready to go back. Here are some more water and breads. Don't bother me while I'm resting," I say as I lie down on the floor next to the button.
"You're so distrustful," she says.
"I can't trust you anymore than this because we just met today. And also, why do you trust a stranger even though the one whom you know for so long openly showed his interest in your body and ready to leave you alone if things didn't go his way? That's stupidity. Stop talking now since I will rest."
Still, that guy was poisoned, wasn't he? Why did he do that? He could just do that after he left this dungeon.
Well, he's just a total extra in this story I believe. There's nothing important about him. Also, he's just a dead body in the game. That makes him even less important.
