One night, Kael couldn't sleep. He went to the rooftop of their building to clear his head.
Batman was already there.
"You're not very subtle," he said.
Kael clenched his fists. "I don't know what you think I am—"
"Not human," Batman replied. "But not a threat. Yet."
He tossed Kael a small black disc.
"GCPD will be watching. So will others. That's a tracer. If you're ever in danger—or if you lose control—press the center. You'll have five seconds before I show up."
Kael looked at it. "Why help me?"
Batman's gaze narrowed. "Because you remind me of someone. Strong. Alone. Angry."
Kael said nothing. The wind blew through his hair.
The Dark Knight turned to leave, but paused. "If you want answers, you'll need training. There's a team that might help. Young. Gifted."
"Like me?" Kael muttered.
"No," Batman replied. "None like you."
Then he vanished into the shadows.
