Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: Lovers in a Dark Alley

The slums in Lungmen are not under the jurisdiction of the authorities, so it's not strange that there are no household registration matters within the slums. This is not only about them not wanting to get involved with the Infected, but also includes the criminals and mafia who reside within the slums of Lungmen, who have enough power to make the guard officers unwilling to interfere.

Since Lungmen is a trading city that has been progressing for many years, many businessmen and important figures from various countries travel to Lungmen. The movement of the majority of the population has therefore increased rapidly compared to other mobile cities. Therefore, even though the Guard Department always has strict entry and exit inspections, they cannot truly inspect every nook and cranny of the city. Just like the arms dealers that Luo Zhen and his people recently dealt with, as long as there are people who want to do illegal things, it's normal for smuggling of illegal goods or arms trafficking to occur.

There are many ways in Lungmen to help outsiders sneak into the city, and it's something that has been going on for a long time, to the point of becoming a large business for various companies. Penguin Logistics also provides this service. In the end, people tend to decide for themselves that living beings or people can become goods to be sent anywhere, as long as it is within the service scope of a logistics company. They have no problem complaining as long as the customer is willing to pay a reasonable price for them. But of course, the smuggled immigrants can only reside in the slums. Because the Lungmen Guard unit will absolutely not interfere with the internal affairs of the slums, unless absolutely necessary.

This has resulted in the slums having a great deal of their own laws and power. Although the order cannot be compared to the people in the city, no one dares to deny that the power within the slums is much more peaceful when compared to the people in the city who are ruled by the guard unit. The reason for that may be due to the rather poor laws of Lungmen, which still leave some areas as dangerous spots within the city. This is different from within the slums, where people have been able to live for many decades without anyone daring to break the rules. But as mentioned, if more people come to live, there will be more people who don't care about the rules. This is what is currently happening in the slums.

In a quiet, narrow alley, within a passage too crowded for one person to walk through, there are now two people standing face to face. From the tip of their noses to their feet, every part of their bodies are so close that anyone who saw would think they were a young couple embracing. But there was no passion in their eyes at all. On the contrary, it radiated a clear murderous intent.

There was a dagger at Luo Zhen's neck, just 0.01 cm away from his throat. After several seconds had passed, the female dagger user, who was acting like Luo Zhen's girlfriend, still hadn't moved. The reason was that Luo Zhen was using one hand to point something at the woman's waist. That was the silver muzzle of the gun in his hand.

Luo Zhen smiled at the other party. "A man and a woman shouldn't kiss in a place like this on their first meeting, miss. If you don't want to get your spine pierced and end up in a wheelchair at a young age, I suggest you stop what you're about to do... or if you don't believe me, shall I prove it to you?"

Ursus curse

The red-haired woman, whose face was half-covered by a hood, stared at him coldly. She didn't seem afraid of the threat at all. "Hah! Before you can shoot me, I'll have already cut your body from head to toe in the blink of an eye!" Luo Zhen raised an eyebrow. "Wow... it seems you don't know how fast an angel's bullet is, do you?" The red-haired woman: "And do you know how fast a Lupo's knife is, you broken spear!" Luo Zhen nodded in understanding. "I think I do." The red-haired woman in front of him was a member of the wolf tribe, just like Texas. They had the same level of assassin skills, and the red tail fur behind her looked just as charming.

Hmm... if you're asking why our current situation has become like this, I have to start telling the story from the beginning.

Luo Zhen had heard from Xiao Ling that her friends and their families had still not returned. So he decided to go out and look for them to find out the truth. The place he was in was not very safe for children, so it would be better if there were adults to look after the children at the Big Yard. Luo Zhen knew well that something strange was happening in the slums right now, so it wasn't strange that he was worried about what had happened to the children who were taken away. Luo Zhen also knew one of Xiao Ling's friends who was taken away quite well. She was from the Ursus Empire and had fled to Lungmen with her mother not long ago. And of course, both were Infected.

The violence from the oppression of the Infected in the Ursus Empire was a well-known fact throughout Terra. Unfortunately, the child's father died in a slave mine in Chernobog before they could escape. But the mother and daughter were still lucky to have received a lot of help from the Infected who fled at that time, so they were able to escape and live in Lungmen. But the child's mother had quite severe mental problems from the loss of her husband. When she first arrived in the slums, she thought this place would be no less cruel than her hometown. That bear child's name was Xiang. When she first arrived here, she was able to adapt to the new environment much better than her mother. So Luo Zhen would often invite Xiao Ling to come to that child's house and bring food and snacks to her mother every day. And the child's mother, who had not yet recovered from her poor mental state, suddenly told her daughter, "They can go home now." No matter how you thought about it, this seemed very suspicious.

After all, there were still many evil people in this slum. To prevent that mother and daughter from being deceived by that group, Luo Zhen wanted to prove it by seeing it with his own eyes.

"Hmm? Is that... a masked person?" When Luo Zhen got close to the spot where Xiao Ling had said her bear friend was taken back, he saw that there were a few people wearing strange white masks standing in the distance. There were only two round holes on the pale, empty mask that were used for seeing. The production looked rough and very strange, giving a very unimpressive feeling at first glance. Luo Zhen hid carefully at the corner of a wall, before straining his ears to eavesdrop on their conversation.

Masked Man A: "[How many did we get? Is it possible they're already inside?]" Masked Man B: "[Not many. Lord Crownslayer said we should do this secretly and not be too conspicuous. So we only selected a few compatriots who have just fled from Ursus.]" Masked Man A: [What! Is that all! But from what I saw, you only brought children and women! And they're just civilians who escaped from a mine collapse incident. Are you planning to have them go out and fight like us!] Masked Man B sighed: [It can't be helped... because this is a direct order from Lady Talulah. That esteemed person might want to start sowing the seeds on the ground first, by trying to find a place where the Infected can gather so that everyone is aware of our existence. Because as long as the current situation remains advantageous, when the operation in Chernobog is over, many compatriots will surely want to join us. That will be a good future for the Infected!] Masked Man A seemed reluctant: [It sounds like a good plan, but in the end, they're just civilians who have just fled from Chernobog. And we ourselves are---Sigh, forget it. It's Talulah's plan anyway, right? We don't have much choice.]

...Chernobog? Luo Zhen's thoughts expanded, and his brows furrowed tightly. Of course, Chernobog was one of the main cities of Chernobog, where the extremist organization [Integration Movement] of the Infected group was currently causing chaos. Although Luo Zhen had never seen people from the Integration Movement before, considering the appearance and conversation of those people, it made him realize immediately that the other party was from the Integration Movement, and they had not been defeated as the news from Ursus had announced. But their speed was what surprised Luo Zhen the most.

Normally, far-sighted terrorists who want to spread their existence are the type who want to gather various Infected from all over the world to plan evil things to set the world on fire. But what was this [Chernobog Operation] they were talking about? What kind of grand action could make the Infected all over the world respond to them... "It seems this is not a small matter anymore, Integration Movement." This was the first time Luo Zhen had kept the name of this extremist organization in his heart and planned to leave quietly without revealing his identity. But at that moment, he felt a multitude of killing intents rushing towards him! In a fraction of a second, a dagger was thrust towards his back!

Luo Zhen didn't need to think. His body moved on instinct, and a halo and wings of light emerged from him, flashing brightly across the area. Suddenly, a dark red blade appeared to block the assassin's dagger.

The red-haired girl from the Lupo tribe was instantly stunned. "A weapon from Originium stone? Why would an angel use a knife as a weapon!" Luo Zhen turned back and replied casually, "Well, no one said all angels use guns, right?" He elbowed the woman in the face, and at the same time, his Originium Arts skill activated. A small pistol appeared in his other hand. But this red-haired wolf girl was not as easy as he thought. She reacted immediately by using the narrow space to her advantage and started a duel of knife and gun with Luo Zhen. She raised her hand and hit Luo Zhen with her elbow, before trying to stab his arm with a dagger. But the red Originium blade floating around Luo Zhen was like a living thing. It blocked her attacks from all directions, making her snort in frustration with annoyance.

Luo Zhen had no intention of wasting a bullet. He just rushed to grab her shoulder with one hand and wrapped his arm around her waist, before trying to control her life with the gun in his hand. As a result, it turned into a situation where both parties couldn't move, just like at the beginning.

"What's wrong, not shooting?" the female assassin said challengingly. She still maintained a calm and cold posture in this situation. "I heard that the laws of Lungmen allow angels to use real guns, but only rubber bullets. They told you not to use them, right... real bullets." the woman said with a victorious tone. "Because if you use real bullets, you're no different from a terrorist like us..." Luo Zhen moved the muzzle of his gun slightly. "Actually... if I wanted to, I could use real bullets anytime. But the reason I don't is because most problems end up being solved with a knife, and this time is no different." Luo Zhen didn't need to move. The red Originium blades floating around him began to move. The weapon made from the purest Originium stone was completely controlled by his brainwaves. It quickly flew to touch the red-haired woman's neck, making her eyes twitch.

Luo Zhen said with a smile, "You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say will be used against you in a court of law. So please do as I say, miss."
