Chapter 8 - The Ownerless World

The Ownerless World

The air was heavy — and not just because gravity had tripled.

Danilo sat among the rubble, elbows resting on his knees, the rusted sword within arm's reach. His children slept nearby, nestled against their grandparents as if afraid to wake up and find that it had all been a nightmare too real to forget.

Beside him, his parents whispered. First cautiously, then with a bit more freedom. They were exhausted, but adrenaline still kept them from sleeping.

— "You know, son…" — began José Chicana, his voice weary. — "I spent my whole life hearing that hard work would earn you a decent life. That the world was fair, and if you did things right, everything would come in time…"

— "And did it?" — Emília cut in, bitter. — "Like hell it did. Lívia stepped on our son, destroyed the family, and no one said a damn word. That so-called land of justice let it all happen without lifting a finger."

José sighed deeply.

— "Your middle brother was the first to judge you. You'd barely lost your job, and he was already saying it was your fault. That you lost everything because you couldn't keep a woman. That no real man loses his home over betrayal."

Danilo didn't respond.

— "And the eldest?" — Emília whispered. — "He vanished. Disappeared. He was your best friend, and when you needed him most, he turned into a stranger."

— "Only Lara…" — José murmured. — "She and her little girl. They always stood by you."

Danilo shut his eyes. The image of his proud sister, raising her daughter alone after being abandoned, came vividly to his mind.

"They're with me. My children. My parents."

"If I can find Lara and the little one… I'll have my family."

"Whole."

🌓 The World That Collapsed

Outside, the screams had stopped. Not because the suffering ended — but because people no longer had the strength to scream.

Danilo looked to the sky. The red cracks still glowed with silent fury. And there, on the horizon, the Tower of Chaos — too tall to see its peak — shimmered like a divine finger pointing upward.

And in that moment, he understood.

"Before, the world had owners."

"Politicians, businessmen, bankers, sons of leaders… people with surnames and legacies."

"Me… I was just another man. A worker. A father. Nothing."

"But now… the world has no owner. The system collapsed. The game has been reset."

"And I was the first to receive a sword."

"The first to kill a monster."

"The first to create a servant."

Danilo gripped the sword's hilt more tightly.

"If the government has fallen… then let a new one rise."

"And this time… it will be me."

"This new world will be mine."

🩸 The Forgotten Items

The memory hit him like a spark.

"Four items."

"I used the Touch of Darkness to create the Monarch."

"I used the Sealing Sword."

"But there are still two…"

— "System," he murmured mentally.

Danilo hesitated. But only for a second.

"Show strength. Create structure. Build something greater."

"I will no longer be dominated. I will be the dominator."

🧬 Seal of the Chaotic Patriarch

A sharp pain pierced his chest, just below the left collarbone.

Danilo clenched his teeth. His eyes burned. Dark red ancestral symbols appeared on his skin, like glowing tattoos. It was a living mark, pulsing with the rhythm of his heart.

The system's voice echoed:

"You do not belong to a lineage… You create one."

"You are the root. Those who kneel will be your branches."

"Your word will be law. Your betrayal… a sentence."

The temperature dropped. The space around him darkened, as if the air itself were afraid.

A black flame appeared — silent and alive. It didn't burn matter… it burned sin.

Danilo felt the connection. The flame wasn't just his.

It was him.

"You were judged. You survived. Now… judge others."

New Skill: Judgment Gaze

Danilo stood still. The flame spun slowly around his head like an inverted, silent halo.

"No more obeying rules. Now, I am the judgment."

He looked to the Tower of Chaos, visible in the distance.

"Before… it was impossible."

"Now… it's inevitable."
