1 Piece AU Luffy Charlotte

"Your grandpa is Marine Vice Admiral Garp? Fist of Justice Garp?" Big Mom was gaping at the little boy who looked confused.
"Fist of Justice? You mean his fist of love? That always hurts! I don't get how cause I'm rubber! Fists shouldn't hurt!" Luffy said near whining and covering his head with his hands protectively, as if feeling the lumps his gramps had left on him.
"So he was using Haki on a child, his own grandson no less?" Amande asked taking a longer than normal drag from her cigarette.
"What's Haki? Can I eat it?" Luffy asked curiously as his head turned towards her, making her breath out the smoke and pat him on the head.
"No. It's a special power." Amande said making Luffy blink at her curiously.
"So it's a mystery?" Luffy asked making Amande sigh, she hadn't even known the boy for an hour and she already knew that it would be the easiest way to explain things to the kid.
"Yeah it's a mystery power. It's how your gramps hits hurt." Amande said making Luffy nod his head as if he understood. It was also something that none of the Charlotte siblings approved of him using against a child. If he hit the boy with Haki, especially on the head, and he hit him too hard…well brain damage would explain a few things about the boy.
"Perospero. Make sure to spread the news that Garp is a child abuser through our usual sources. A marine using Haki on a child…" Big Mom was even a bit shocked at this and Katakuri looked up just in time to see a strange look pass over his mothers face. It seemed as if she had just realized something and he saw a brief flash of guilt and horror in her eyes as she looked down at her kids.
"It will be done mama. I can add neglect and starvation to that too, leaving a kid with mountain bandits…throwing him into a ravine…" Perospero trailed off his eyes darkening as he thought of a marine doing those kinds of things to his own baby brothers and sisters.
"Luffy…is there anything else your grandfather would do to you?" Brulee asked hoping that the boy didn't have multiple cases of this kind of thing happening.
"He has me fight the fighting monkey's but doesn't show me how to fight first. He tied me to some balloons and sent me into the air and it really hurt when I crashed back into the water, Makino said I had broken a lot of bones. I couldn't eat a lot or move too much for weeks! And he threw me into the forest where the Tiger king was and made me fight my way back out and find food on my own…and anytime I say I wanna be a pirate he hits me…he got real mad when Sabo-nii, Ace-nii and I stole Dadan's sake and drank some to be real brothers!" Luffy said nodding his head and each sentence out of the boys mouth had the looks on the Charlotte siblings faces get darker and darker while Big Mom winced and stared down at her tea cakes silently, thinking heavily about something.
Perospero gripped his cane tightly and thought about all the different ways he was going to ruin Garp. Amande had a hand on her sword and her knuckles were white as ivory, gripping the handle so hard her hands were bleeding as she took a deep drag of her cigarette. Katakuri was grimacing behind his scarf and had his eyes closed, Garp better not come near them. Smoothie was keeping a tight but not too tight hold on the boy who suddenly seemed a lot smaller and scrawnier in her grasp, wondering how she could squeeze the juice out of Garp. Brulee's fury wasn't shown on her face, not wanting to alarm the boy, but every mirror in the room was shaking. Pudding didn't understand what was going on but knew that what Luffy said wasn't good and she looked upset and scared and worried as she gripped onto Amande's dress, her big sisters free hand falling to rest on her head reassuringly.
"Well how would you like it if your grandpa never got to hit you or try and 'train' you ever again?" Brulee asked giving Luffy a soft smile to hide the hatred building inside of her for the old marine. He had been called a hero…and yet…the way he treated his own grandson…it was more like a monster.
"Really? But how would I get strong then?" Luffy asked peering up at Brulee curiously and confused.
"Well…" Brulee trailed off as she looked at her brother who glanced up at their mother and then nodded his head.
"We can train you if you want. We'll help you get really big and strong and you can be a pirate." Brulee said making Luffy's eyes widen big time.
"But I gotta start my journey in East Blue! If I don't then I'll break my promise to Ace-nii!" Luffy said making Big Mom look at him.
"This Ace-nii is important to you then?" Big Mom asked making Luffy nod his head rapidly.
"Yeah! He's my big brother and lots of people hate him for his dad and he doesn't think he should be alive. I told him I was happy he was born and he made me promise that we'll be pirates and be free and always be brothers! We promised to start on Dawn Island and be the best pirates ever! He keeps saying that I'm more important, whatever that means, than him but I won't let anyone take away my big brother! I already lost Sabo-nii and I don't want to lose Ace-nii!" Luffy said and something he said seemed to strike a cord with Big Mom.
"Happy he was born…" Big Mom murmured as she put a hand over her swollen pregnant belly.
"Yeah! I'm happy he was born cause he's my big brother! But I'm happy everyone was born! Everyone deserves to live!" Luffy said and the Charlotte siblings were stunned to see their mothers eyes become a bit misty.
"Deserves to live huh…tell me something Luffy. Even though I'm a feared pirate with lots of blood on my hands and the whole world wishes I was never born, much less my children were never born…do you still think we deserve to live? Even when the whole world wants us to die?" Big Mom asked staring at the boy who blinked big innocent eyes up at her. Then he beamed at her with positively two third the radiance of Prometheus at his strongest.
He could tell that there was something strange about this lady, that something happened that made her think about this. But he didn't care what it was. Ace-nii thought that he should have never been born until Luffy told him that he was happy that Ace was born. Why would anything be different for this weird large lady?
The Charlotte siblings, especially the older ones, were stunned at the innocence of this child and how his words had tears building up in their mothers eyes.
"Yep! You deserve to live and so do your kids! I don't care what the world thinks! I'm happy you were born too!"
