The next two days, it was a Monday morning. Peter adjusted the collar of his shirt as he wore his uniform.
"Peter, your transport fare is on the table. You can use the amount left to take care of your needs in school." Peter heard his mother say as usual.
He kept mute and decided to leave his room when he felt that she had left.
He walked to the table where she kept the transport fare and sighed, shaking his head.
The money they transfer every month to his account is more than enough, but they still give him transport fare every single day. He uses this money to run a business in school and invests some.
"This is their way of showing that they care for me." He had told himself one day.
He took the money into his pocket and walked to the kitchen where he served himself some food.
Done eating his food, he took up his bag and walked out of the house to his school which was fifty minutes away from his house.
Getting to the school, he first saw Michael who was all smiles.
"Welcome brother." Michael greeted him with a handshake.
"What is making you all happy this morning?" Peter asked.
"Nothing much," Michael said. "Remember your plan for Diana."
"Do not worry. I know my tactics very well." Peter said and Michael smiled.
"Let's go," Michael said.
They walked into the class together smiling.
On seeing Diana walk up to them, Michael excused himself.
Diana walked to Pete and placed her hand across his neck.
"I am so glad to see you today." She said and gave him a little peck on his cheek.
She helped him pull off his bag and walked him to his seat.
"Thank you, dear," Peter said collecting his bag from her when he got to his seat.
"You are welcome." She said with a smile on her face.
"Would you like to get anything?" She asked, smiling, and he shook his head.
"Alright, congratulations once again." She said and left.
Peter smiled looking at her as she walked away.
"I don't know but it seems she is about to do something." He said to himself.
A few minutes later, Diana returned to him with some snacks.
"I would like to share this with you." She said to him and he smiled.
"You may take your seat." He said, pointing to his side, which was empty.
They began sharing the snacks and talking.
Michael smiled watching them from where he was seated.
"Wow." He said smiling.
A few minutes later, they were done with the snacks and Diana left for the place meant for her to sit.
Andrew walked into the class and sat beside Peter as he was his partner.
He shook hands with Peter congratulating him for being chosen for the competition.
Minutes later, a teacher walked into their classroom, and Peter got up to leave for the science class, and so did Michael and Diana.
The science students all left the classroom for their science class.
Getting to the science class, they were taught how to mix a chemical, and they all did the practical to see the result.
Done with the Practical, Peter had his sit on a bench.
Diana walked to Peter and placed her hand on him.
"Are you tired?" She asked and Peter nodded.
"Slightly." He said.
Diana smiled and looked out of the lab.
"Should we go out since we are free for the next fifteen minutes? I would get you a drink." She said and Peter smiled.
He wondered why ladies, knowing that he could afford to buy anything he wanted, still bought things for him.
"Diana, I am so tired. I can't walk out of this place like this." He said and Diana smiled.
"Oh yes." She said. "I will go get you a drink."
She left him walking out of the lab.
Michael walked to Peter when he was done washing his hands.
"Peter!" He called and Peter smiled.
"Hey, bro," Peter said shaking hands with Michael.
"Where did she go?" Michael asked.
"You mean Diana?" Peter asked and Michael nodded.
"Who else?" He said smiling.
"You know ladies with their ways," Peter said.
"She went to get you something?" Michael asked and Peter smiled.
"Gullible." They both said and laughed.
"By the way, Terry still likes you," Michael said and Peter hissed.
"She?" Peter asked looking back at a girl.
"You know that she comes from an average family," Michael said.
"Lower than yours," Peter said and Michael nodded.
Michael cleared his throat and excused himself seeing Diana walk into the lab.
"Have a great day." He said tapping Peter.
Peter left the lab with Diana as they were not allowed to eat or drink in the lab because of the flammable substances kept in the lab, so rather than eating in the lab, they always sat on a bench outside the lab.
After having the drinks, they took a rest and then walked into the lab.
"How is your preparation for our final exam?" Peter asked Diana who smiled.
"It's been good." She said. "How is your preparation for the competition?"
"It's been nothing but good," Peter said.
"I trust you to make this school proud," Diana said.
"I always do," Peter said, taking his seat.
Diana smiled looking at him.
"I heard that a new girl would be joining us next week," Diana said.
"A new student?" Peter asked.
"Yes, I guess it's mainly for her final exam," Diana said and Peter smiled.
"I trust you have done some research about her," Peter said.
"Yes, I have. Her name is Claudia and she comes from a poor background." Diana said acting irritated.
"Why would a poor student be able to attend this school?" Peter asked.
"She was given a scholarship," Diana said. "I heard that she won various competitions in her former school."
"Which means she is intelligent," Peter said and Diana nodded.
"I am sure that she won't be compared to you." She said and Peter smiled.
