"Don't let her escape, it's either bring a dead body here or a disabled fae" Aeris said, his eyes had darkened and he had a frown on his face.
"Yes, my king" the guards muttered as they turned around heading for the ground floor.
Nyra knew she was falling fast, she had no idea why she was thinking of just ending her life and not performing any spell. She chuckled at her thoughts as she slowly closed her eyes, she spread her hands out making sure to focus on the cold breeze that was around her.
"The wind around me flows like an endless river. May I be as light as a feather and as swift as an eagle as I land" She quietly muttered as she felt the motion in which the wind was blowing change.
It blew around her in a circle just like a tornado and before Nyra could relish in the feeling, she landed on the floor. She looked up at Aeris who was staring at her but she didn't say anything and just ran in an opposite direction.
The palace ground has more guards than that damned wall and she had no idea how she could escape. Looking around, she realized she was in the palace's garden, she hid behind a bush as a group of guards walked into the garden, their swords unscathed and they looked ready to kill at any moment.
She pulled out her dagger as she took a deep breath, after leaving this place, she needed to head back to that wall to find her bag and the map of valerdorn.
"I don't think she is here" Elis said as he looked around, he didn't want to make the king angry and they needed to cover up more of the land. "Let's split up and keep searching for her, have them close the gates, no one gets in and no one goes out"
Elis said and just like that they split into two groups, the first group headed to the back of the palace while the other continued their search. After making sure that the coast was clear, she continued running but she had no idea she was being watched.
She looked around her for a while before going in the opposite direction of the whole two teams. Soon after walking for a while, she found herself in front of large trees that looked like the palace was built in a forest.
A gushing river made her wonder if she could jump into it, but she didn't have the luxury for that. She turned to look around before turning back to the river and just beyond it were two statues and in the middle was a small passage.
She immediately jumped into the water, not minding how harsh the waves were. She swam to the other side of the river and climbed out. Taking a deep breath, she pushed her wet hair away from her face before proceeding to the statues. As she passed in between them, she suddenly saw a main road just beyond the path where the statues were built.
She immediately smiled softly as she kept walking but she hadn't walked for long when she felt as if she was being watched. Nyra pulled out her dagger taking a deep breath, her plan was clear, escape from here, blend into the main city, find the wall and her bag, then finally located the veilshard.
But then—
She could hear footsteps behind her, she turned slowly about to lunge at the person.
Too late.
She was slammed against a tree so hard she could feel a metallic taste in her mouth. She heard her dagger fall to the floor and it made her feel even worse.
She fell to the floor with a thud but was quick to get herself back, she rolled over about to chant a disappearing spell when a cold metal boot slammed down on her wrist. The owner of this boot had the intention of disabling her hand.
"Don't even try it" A cold and emotionless voice made her stop wiggling around.
Aeris.
His eyes shone even brighter under the sun, but the look on his face made Nyra shudder in fear. Though it didn't show on her face, she was genuinely scared.
Aeris's black robe and the hood on his head made him look even more mysterious. Seeing she was lost in thoughts, he pressed his foot harder on her wrist.
"If you're trying to disable me, you're doing a great job" Nyra said sarcastically trying to pull her arm away.
Aeris chuckled as he bent to her level, pulling her up forcefully as he ran his fingers through her hair, his fingers brushing her scalp once in a while. Nyra wanted to push him away but the way her raging headache subsided made her succumb to his touch and it made Aeris smile.
"You know, you really thought you could escape my sight or rather my wrath? I thought you were smarter, I freaking caught you even before you could think of executing your stupid plan" Aeris's lips pulled up into a mocking smile, Nyra wanted to wipe that smile off his lips but she couldn't do anything.
"Why don't you kill me already? Haven't I caused enough damage?" Nyra spat out, she was clearly frustrated about this whole cat and mouse situation.
"You're not worth killing, yet" Aeris said as he applied more force on his leg that was on her wrist. Nyra let out a sharp and painful yelp, tears welling up in her eyes. "I still haven't figured out why you're here and if that damned prophecy is true"
"W-what prophecy?" Nyra asked but Aeris just turned away from her. Nyra narrowed her eyes at Aeris but he still didn't talk.
Aeris straightened up as he turned to the guards behind him. "Take her back to the palace, chain her up and make sure she doesn't get access to anything but food. If she tries anything stupid—" Aeris turned to look at Nyra, a murderous glint in his eyes. "Cut her tongue off"
