Chapter 7 - Before the Storm

Morning dawned over Nova Academy, but for Fairon, it didn't start peacefully.

"Get up already!"A loud voice echoed in the dorm room, followed by the shadow of someone mid-air.

Fairon's eyes snapped open—just in time to see Inazuma about to land right on top of him!

"Inazuma!! Are you insane?!" Fairon rolled out of bed just before impact.

Magnet burst into laughter from across the room. "Finally! It's been thirty minutes of me and Inazuma trying to wake you up. You didn't even blink! Oh—and by the way, I streamed it all live."

"What?! You what?!""Relax," Magnet said with a wink. "Just a small audience... maybe seven thousand viewers."

Still half-asleep, Fairon dragged himself to the sink, muttering, "Great. Just great…"

The trio made their way to the grand dining hall. The atmosphere in the academy was noticeably tense this morning. Whispers floated around, eyes turned toward the stage. Something big was coming.

Suddenly, Headmaster Saro stepped forward, flanked by the senior instructors. His voice thundered across the hall:

"Students of Nova. Let this be your reminder: these training days are more important than ever. Every second, every skill, every drop of sweat matters. The selection trials are near—and they won't be easy. Our first opponent... is Academy X."

Gasps echoed throughout the room. Students turned to each other in disbelief.

"Academy X?!""That's impossible…""They're our biggest rivals!"

Fairon turned to Magnet, puzzled. "What's Academy X?"

Magnet crossed his arms. "They were founded around the same time as Nova. Their headmaster is Saro's brother. Every year, it's the same story—competition, duels, and drama."

Inazuma added grimly, "They beat us last year."

Fairon's brows furrowed. "Are they that strong?"

Magnet nodded. "They only accept elites. Their graduates become superpowered military officers, elite enforcers, heroes. But don't count Nova out. We're great too. The problem is… sometimes the weakest link is the rookies."

Fairon frowned. "Are you saying I'm the weak link?"

"I'm not saying that," Magnet smirked. "But hey—prove me wrong."

After breakfast, training resumed in full force.

Instructor Kujie rallied her students:

"Don't let last year's loss haunt you. We don't always win, but we don't always lose. This year, we fight back.Your strength, your resolve, and your effort will decide everything."

Then the day unfolded like a powerful montage:

Instructor Seadro led the senior students, with Inazuma among them, pushing limits and honing precision.

Alzees focused her attention on Fairon, teaching him the advanced technique of Solid Element Control—a way to mold elements into stable, tangible forms.

Instructor Saro trained students in managing their internal energy flow.

Magnet learned to bend gravity—intensifying or nullifying its pull in selected areas.

The sun set slowly, painting the academy grounds in a deep orange. Exhaustion weighed on every student. Faces were flushed, muscles sore, but spirits still burning.

In the academy courtyard, students sprawled across the grass like fallen warriors after battle. Some sighed, others laughed. It had been a long week.

Fairon, Inazuma, and Magnet lay side-by-side, eyes closed, breathing heavy.

"That... was brutal," Magnet groaned, wiping sweat from his forehead.

"But we survived," Inazuma murmured, a soft grin on his lips.

Just then, one of the instructors appeared in the courtyard and called out:

"Urgent notice from the administration! The internal selection battles begin… tomorrow!"

Murmurs rose again. Students sat upright, some excited, others terrified.

"Tomorrow?!" Fairon exclaimed, springing to his feet.

"Yes!" Magnet shouted. "We'll be fighting together!"

Inazuma stood slowly. "It's time to reap what we've sown."

Fairon looked toward the sky, now tinged with twilight. The clouds parted just slightly, and the stars began to peek through.

He whispered, almost to himself:"Finally…"

Then—his body gave in. He collapsed backward into the grass, unconscious from sheer exhaustion.

End of Episode.
