Chapter 1 - 1

I lay on my bed, staring at the ceiling fan turn. Each blade that passed slowly, brought me no breeze but instead reminded me of my empty life.

I'm tired and I don't know what else to do. I have given the world all my efforts but it seemed like there was nothing I was good at.

I have nobody. Everything and everyone I have loved has given up on me.

"Maybe it was time I gave up as well"

Because what else could I expect from it, this is the 21st century where money dictated all things, rules and laws were only meant for the poor and powerless.

It didn't even matter were your wealth came from, as long as you had money you were considered someone that could see a hidden truth in life, someone that had something of value to offer but a person like me, an ex-convict with not a single penny to my name was considered a failure doomed to be nothing for the rest of my life.

No matter what I tried it always ended up failing.

At that moment there was a light knock on the front door, pulling his attention.

"Who's there?" Vincent's voice echoed loud. It wasn't too deep but it carried the weight of a 25 year old man.

"It's me, Arch. I was heading to the place and I wanted to know if you are still coming?" The voice behind the door was deeper and sounded like an older man.

When Vincent opened it, it was a middle aged man with wrinkles that made him appear even older than expected. He was slightly smaller than Vincent.

Vincent hesitated for a few seconds before speaking, "let's go,"

He said those words with zero confidence. It was clear that he was rethinking his decision, but it wasn't like he had any choice.

They left the run-down apartment building and stepped into the street. It wasn't too busy but there were a few cars and trucks parked around, and individuals going about their day

The evening sun barely reached them, blocked by rows of squat, tired buildings, four or five stories tall at most, all worn down like everything else in the neighborhoods at the outskirts of the city.

This was one of the worst neighborhoods in all of K-city. Where all the poor and less privileged come to face their final struggles before dying.

It was hardly looked over by the government and was mostly influenced by gangs and thugs.

They walked for a while and soon they reached Zone 13. By now night had covered but the streets were even more busy.

It was normal because this was the Red district of K-city. It was the place where the most vile and hardened criminals gathered to make their base.

It was also lined with bars and motels, with pretty women standing at every corner waiting to be carried away for the night.

They were the kind of girls that would do anything for money, and were mostly the reason why Zone 13 was always so busy.

The rich would leave their luxurious neighborhoods and come here just to buy a moment of their time. They were the main attraction, along with the cheap drinks and motels they had to offer.

Of course it was only cheap for those who made thousands of dollars, for Vincent a simple night with one of these beautiful ladies might mean he would have to sacrifice a week's worth of food.

Although it was obviously worth it, he couldn't bring himself to starve for one whole week. He would be too weak, and wouldn't even be able to perform. So he could only admire their bodies.

Soon they got to one such night bar. Two goons stood outside. Their bodies were muscular and their eyes scanned the two figures with hostility.

"The boss is expecting us," Arch said with a shaky voice.

One of them grunted and adjusted his dark shades.

"Who the hell are you?" He asked,

"We are here for the job," Vincent replied, "aren't you tired of asking us that question every time we come here?"

"Oh, I didn't know. It's not my fault you all look the same. Broke and malnourished," he smirked.

Vincent gritted his teeth in annoyance but chose not to say anything, he knew better than to challenge Gutter. Not only was he twice his size, he was one of the most feared thugs in Zone 13.

After all this wasn't new, he would always try to bait people just so he could teach them a lesson. But Vincent wouldn't fall for his childish mockery. Even with a weapon his chances of surviving an altercation with Gutter was very slim.

The body under that black suit was built like a tank.

"Maybe if you stopped wearing shades in the night you would see better," he whispered to himself as he stepped inside the bar.

He was greeted by a row of pretty, sexy girls of different shapes and sizes. Their beautiful breasts and ass were well defined under tempting gowns and skirts. The skimpy clothes they wore for the purpose of teasing and seducing customers, was very effective, exposing most of their cleavage and laps.

Vincent couldn't bring himself to look away, just like every other man that probably came into this place. He wanted to fuck them. If possible all of them at once.

But he knew it wasn't possible. The girls hardly even paid him any attention, they weren't even trying to catcall him like they did to other customers.

'They don't even try to hide it, it's as if they already know I have no money before I even step in' he shook his head with self-pity.

It was like this everywhere he went so he wasn't really bothered by it, but it still left a bitter taste in his mouth.

They looked at him with disdain and disgust, as if it was his fault he was poor or it was a crime for him to even exist.

A sigh escaped his lips.

This was one of the most luxurious bars in Zone 13, they offered exotic, high class hostesses with individual rooms for private drinking.

Raking in politicians and rich business men that wanted to waste their precious money on whatever they could want, and the man that controlled this magnificent castle was a notorious gangster called Don Angel, AKA the boss.
