Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Cultivation Technique

We ran for two hours more. Kiana easily grasped the basics of the physical movements. I also noticed in-between that I tend to explain things more lengthily. I am reminded of what I had to go through Honkai Impact 3rd's story, which made me rethink how I teach.

I was heaving for air while Kiana breathed steadily.

I thought of something and positioned myself in the [Toushen Manual]'s opening form.

"Ever-existing…"

Seven minutes later, my restless breaths turned to normal.

How magical.

"It's harder to maintain this practice while tired…"

I summed up the effects of the [Toushen Manual]. I know its entire content, yes, but experiencing it first-hand is a different matter.

My brain knows about the techniques' in and outs. But, my body can't catch up to it. Only actual practice can solve this problem.

When I opened my eyes, I saw Kiana's gaze on me. She shied away and moved her gaze to the surroundings.

I glanced at the clock and saw it was already 12:00 PM. Five hours have passed since the start of my teaching.

"I think you can try it. The attack form I taught you."

"Hm?"

Three minutes later, I regretted saying it. The entire body of the basketball ring's metal pillar was struck in half. Glass shards are scattered on the floor.

Kiana wore a satisfied look. She is proud of what she did.

"What? I can cover the expenses."

"Oh."

I almost forgot about her omnipotent black card. I should thank Anti-Entropy for their hard work…

Yesterday was quite the mess for the attending Schicksal officials. An event was held in Glastonbury about the opening of Schicksal's new research institution. This opening held a lot of significance to the country's officials and businessmen alike.

It was akin to a new investment project that is guaranteed to boom. All they had to do was to give money and they will expect a high return a year or so later.

From networking to wealth, Schicksal's new venture meant a lot.

For the Shicksal officials, however, they were simply acting on the whims of their Overseer.

He sent along two of his precious valkyries to complete a certain mission.

"It's very strange. Only five seraph-classes appeared."

Inside the room, the blonde girl, Durandal, repeated her doubts.

Their 'formal party' yesterday was disrupted by a nearby small-scale honkai eruption. She acted first and swept through the incident area. They were surprised to see nothing unusual from it.

No humans were turned into an undead. Only five seraph-class honkai beasts appeared, nothing else.

For a small-scale honkai eruption, it was very unusual. It was expected for at least one chariot-class to appear—a monster more than four meters tall.

That alone warrants their attention. Schicksal has been doing a tight information blockade about the honkai. It is in their duty to deal with such incidents.

"There aren't many cameras around…"

Unfortunately, the other Schicksal operators back in headquarters did not notice anyone unusual. They could not press on the people they thought were suspicious.

Thus, the case ended like that.

"Achi!"

The cold wind gave me some creeps.

Convinced of the technique I thought, Kiana eagerly brought me several sets of clothing. One of them was a thick coat. Although it was too big, I accepted it.

Without this little rich girl around, I would have suffered from all sorts of afflictions.

As expected, I should teach her more techniques. It should bring considerable help during that final boss fight.

Currently, I am staying outside yet another convenience store. I am waiting for Kiana to buy things.

I sat on the cold chair outside and closed my eyes.

With a little thought…

"Yup."

…I am greeted by the familiar golden orb.

I did not dilly-dally. Using the new knowledge I learned—from the five movement arts up to the Toushen Manual—I drafted a new technique.

Starting off with the six-hundred tabulated meridians (I searched wikipedia), it detailed a kind of routine where spiritual qi entered the seven orifices, went through these meridians, and formed a "Zhoutian" (Cycle). The meridians on the head, left arm, right arm, left leg, right leg, and torso all form a smaller cycle. These smaller cycles, when completed successfully, are called small Zhoutian.

On the other hand, once all six Small Zhoutians are finished, it connects with each other, thus forming a big Zhoutian.

A big Zhoutian symbolizes a complete cultivation session.

"Those star-based techniques aren't suitable… I need to base it on the talents I'll get in the [Toushen Manual]."

Meaning, I have to center my techniques on the Yin-Yang of the Five Elements.

Most of my original thoughts and wikipedia-sourced knowledge made up 10% of what I submitted. The remaining 90% came from the knowledge from the golden orb.

My photographic memory only works on the revised techniques. It's still quite hard for me to recall the things I personally learned.

That will change later, though.

I watched as a three-hundred page thick book appeared on my palm. By far, it is the most detailed technique I spat out, unlike the ones I made up from unreliable pieces of information.

Buzz-!

The familiar golden light swept through the light golden-cover book.

Moments later, a brand new title appeared on its cover. It almost fell from my grasp due to its new thickness.

"...It's more than a thousand pages, isn't it?"

If the five movement arts I made were added together, they wouldn't be as thick as this technique.

"Oh no. Can I bring this out?"

A dilemma presented itself to me.
