Chapter 5
Connecting with Suki…
The birds humming made the silent forest buzz with life. The King had learnt of the Drew's village and was determined to go hunting..
" Watch were you are going pretty lady." The knight complimented Nyraxas maid. She blushed.
Nyraxas bedroom door opened and her accomplice walked in confidently.
" Any news .."
Nyraxa questioned, her back facing the door.
"Is this any way to welcome your lover." The Knight tried to caress her shoulders but she kicked his belly.
The Knight felt she was not in the mood and decided to let her be.
"The King feels he has found your brother, and has gone to search for him."
Nyraxa tried to recall if she had a brother or not but her memory failed her.
The Knight walked out of the room disappointed, he was feeling rejected.
Nyraxa had once thought she was the only child, but her father kept such an irritating secret.
If her father plans to bring her brother home and make him the heir, she will have to find him first and then kill him.
Nyraxa put on her hood and galloped to the forest, her map in her hand.
In the forest Zarek was busy trying to heal the wounded dragon.
"You know you do not have to carry this burden all my yourself."
The eldest Drew spoke to Zarek.
" You have no idea what's coming, and neither do I. I need to become a seer in other to save the people, how do I save them from what I can not fore see."
Zarek was extremely troubled he never wanted to be the chosen one or to be a dragon Lord or just came to him.
Was there a way for him to throw it all away, the gift, his destiny. Maybe that was it.
"I'm running, I'm leaving, I can't do this, I thought I could but having magic and using it for war are two different things." Zarek told the Drew's he had made up his mind.
Dourin was about to convince him when the elders Drew stopped him, he should leave if he wanted to. There was no room for cowards.
Zarek left with a heavy heart, he could hear the dragons roar but there was nothing he could do.
As the Drew's sat on the floors silently, there hopes dashed. They heard the noise of horses from different directions.
Kragnir got up feeling frightened. " Are we in danger brothers?."
The eldest Drew listened to the forest; indeed they were.
"Hide.." The Drew's hid in the dragons hut, breathing as quietly as they could. They heard the King and his guards conversing above them.
A twig snapped diverting the Kings attention. "Whose there?." The King asked with authority, drawing out his sword.
"Its me father." Nyraxa came out of her hiding place.
" How dare you interfere with the Kings mission?." Kings Voss eyes spelt danger.
For the first time, she saw a different side of him.
"You were the one who hid the truth from me, so I had a brother all this time?." Nyraxas eyes were filled with tears.
" He is not your brother child, he is an enemy, a wanted criminal, if I find him I will curse and cut him in pieces."
Nyraxas mind was at peace as soon as she heard how much her father hated this brother of hers.
At least he was not a competitor to the throne.
"Alright father, I will go home then."
Nyraxa smiled and went away.
Although Nyraxa had never seen this brother, she knew she would be able to recognize him any day.
Zarek still in the forest heard his father's voice and stooped in a corner, he was not going to abandon the dwarfs.
He needed to distract his father, so that they would escape.
" Are you looking for me old man?." Zarek stepped out of the shadows.
King Voss looked at him.
"You really let yourself go." The King mocked.
Zareks clothes were torn, his shoes unrecognizable and worn out.
Zarek turned to the guards.
"Do not be like him, this is how it feels when the man that brought you into the world hunts you."
The King grunted…
"This is my last order to you, leave Eryndor, the moment you are found, you will be beheaded."
Zarek laughed sorrowfully, he remembered his mother's death.
Hidden in the Dragons hit, Dourin coughed loudly. He's brother turned to stare.
"That was me!." Zarek protested when the guards made a move to scout the forest.
At the thought of his mother's death Zarek could feel his blood boil.
"If only you would be as obedient as your sister, you will rule by my side and together we will conquer the world."
Zarek had heard enough of his father's speech he felt an unknown personality take over him. His eyes glowed.
King Voss fell to the ground. The trees bent and waved as the wind was too much for there feeble leaves to bear.
"You will leave him alone at once. Else you will bear the wrath of the anscestors."
King Voss refused to be afraid.
"Your time in this world has come to an end, this is my time to rule and there is nothing you can do to stop me."
The dragon sensing Zareks danger stirred. The scars on the dragons wings were cleansed off by the intense light from the sun focusing its energy through Zareks body.
King Voss still determined stood his ground, when suddenly the royal sorceress appeared and took him away forcefully.
The guards knelt and bowed.
Zarek was still under the control of the personality, the power of the light pushed Nyraxa off her horse.
Zarek fell to the ground exhausted. The guards ran off.
The Drew's came out of hiding and ran to him, the dragon flew extremely well for the first time.
"Look you did it, you healed Suki. Get up now." The Drew's tried to wake him up, but Zareks eyes remained shut.
