Chapter 1 - Chapter 000: Prologue

One early morning, when Wu Yufei woke up from sleep, he suddenly heard a voice in his mind that sounded just like a system notification from a video game.

"Who?! Who's there?!"

Startled, Wu Yufei thought it must be some prankster messing with him.

But when he got out of bed and looked around, he realized there was no one else in the room.

What shocked him even more was that… this wasn't his university dorm room at all, but a completely unfamiliar room.

Where… am I?

Last night, he didn't go out with his dorm buddies to celebrate a birthday, get unconditionally drunk, and then get carried back to the dorm and pass out?

But this wasn't his familiar dorm, where he had lived for two years, nor was it any hotel near campus that he recognized.

And what about that voice just now?

He'd been totally wasted last night so, why was his head completely clear now? No hangover, no thirst, not even the smell of alcohol on his body.

Could it be… some kind, beautiful older woman helped him shower and tucked him into bed?

His brain was filled with so many questions that he didn't even know what to think.

At a loss, Wu Yufei grabbed the neatly folded set of clothes on the bedside table, threw them on, and stepped out of the room to figure out who had brought him here.

Upon opening the door, he saw a nicely decorated living room. From the décor alone, he could tell this was no average school-middle class at least.

But strangely, no one was there.

He checked the bathroom, the shower, the kitchen, and even another bedroom-but not a single person was around.

Only a note lay on the kitchen counter.

"Yufei, I've gone to the office. I've already contacted the school basketball coach for you-make sure you're not late."

"Hmm… Yufei? That is my name… But my dad doesn't work in an office. And this sure as hell isn't my house. My college is hundreds of kilometers away from home."

Wu Yufei stared at the note, confused beyond belief.

Could it be…

After two full minutes of deep thinking, a single idea came to mind that perfectly explained everything:

Had he… transmigrated?...

His hands trembling, Wu Yufei dropped the note and sprinted back into the bedroom. He grabbed a mirror from the desk and looked at his reflection.

"This is… me?"

The face in the mirror looked a bit like his own, but younger-more baby-faced. Apparently, no older than 15 or 16.

He glanced at the wardrobe. When he stood upright, he realized he was only slightly shorter than it-and the wardrobe was 2 meters tall!

That meant he was at least 185 cm (6'1").

No matter how unbelievable it was, Wu Yufei had to admit:

He really had transmigrated.

"If that's the case, then the voice I heard earlier must've been…"

Recalling that mysterious system notification, he closed his eyes and said in his mind:

"Open system."

Ding-System successfully activated! Scanning host's physical data and generating main quest...

In the next moment, Wu Yufei felt like he was being scanned by some kind of machine-his whole body was swept from head to toe.

Then, inside the darkness of his closed eyes, a beam of light appeared.

An interface, much like a video game character panel, floated in front of him, filled with detailed stats.

"In your current environment, you're among the elite of your age group. You are fully capable of being a starting player on any high school team."

"Damn…"

After reviewing his stats, Wu Yufei couldn't help but gasp.

This is like having life set to 'Very Easy Mode' right from the start!

And he was only 15 years old!

Opening his eyes, he looked down at his muscular arms.

Compared to his average build in his previous life, this new body was a dream come true.

He'd read tons of transmigration novels, but never imagined he'd be chosen too—finally joining the ranks of those lucky protagonists.

"Right… didn't 'Dad' mention something about going to meet a high school coach?"

He recalled the note, ran back to the kitchen, and rechecked the writing.

Flipping the note over, he saw a school name written clearly:

Miuradai Private High School, Kanagawa Prefecture.

BOOM!

It was like a lightning bolt struck Wu Yufei right in the chest.

Kanagawa? Miuradai?!

"This… this is the Slam Dunk world?!!"

Happiness came so suddenly that Wu Yufei didn't even know what face to make.

Slam Dunk-this was his favorite anime of all time, no contest.

He had watched both the anime and manga more than fifty times, and each time felt as thrilling as the first.

It was Slam Dunk that had made him fall in love with basketball.

From elementary school to college, he'd been the starting player on every school team.

Even though he was only 175 cm (5'9") in high school, he used his speed and skill to embarrass taller opponents-even those over 180 cm.

But no matter how talented he was, his height had always been the barrier keeping him from going pro.

He had tried everything-diet, training, supplements but nothing worked.

In the end, he had accepted that basketball would only ever be a passion and hobby, not a career.

But now everything had changed!

At 15 years old, he was already nearly 190 cm.

With proper nutrition and training, he had a real shot at going pro!

And he was now living in the Slam Dunk universe, his favorite world.

In this moment, was there anyone on Earth happier than Wu Yufei? Unquestionably not.

He tucked the note into his bag, grabbed a sandwich from the fridge, devoured it in a few bites, and returned to his room to grab his wallet.

Inside were crisp Japanese yen bills everything was in place.

Satisfied, Wu Yufei stepped out at the front door.

At the bottom of the apartment building, he hailed a cab, handed the driver the note, and set off toward Miuradai High School.
